About Adele Hammond
Adele Hammond, artist, and founder of Abrazo Style (a fashion accessories company that works directly with indigenous artisans in Oaxaca and Chiapas, MX), lived in Oaxaca for five years with her husband, John, and daughter, Siena.
Adele Hammond purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Adele Hammond chose 3a Sección San Pablo Etla
We love Oaxaca, its culture, its climate, its art and living in a small village on the shoulders of the local mountains.
What makes this Villa unique
What we love most about our place is that while other people are caught in traffic and fighting the congestion of the city, we are watching the sunset at the pool with a glass of wine, listening to the birds after having spent a lovely day in town.

Really enjoyed property. Very peaceful and beautiful location. About a half hour from centro. But that was fine with us. Good to have car. Manager Florecio was great. He arranged breakfast in house one morning in house which was very good. Very nice walks from house which was a plus. Would definitely stay here again without hesitation.
Thanks very much for your comments. So glad you enjoyed the house and the walking in the area...one of my favorite activities. We hope to see you again in the future!
Beautiful The house was gorgeous location was magnificent and the people were very kind and helpful would love to come back soon thank you for everything
Lovely home, gorgeous setting
We spent nine lovely days in this beautiful home. The wonderful Mexican folk art throughout the home made us feel connected to the history of this part of Mexico -- a kind of immersion experience. And we much appreciated the gracious help from all of the staff.
What a wonderful description of your experience Ann-Louise! Thank you. The art represents many of the previous artist-owner's own work as well as the eclectic things that were left behind that are now a part of the story of El Barco. So glad El Barco resonated with you and that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again soon! ;-)
a week in Shangri-la, actually. We could not have been more pleased with this home, the thoughtful hospitality, and the welcome/helpfulness of Florencio, Rosa, and the neighbors. We are so grateful, Adele, that you could share your home with us.

Oaxaca, Oaxaca, South East Mexico, Mexico (20 Minutes from Downtown Oaxaca in San Pablo Etla) --- With vistas spanning the mountains behind and views of the best sunsets in Oaxaca across the valley below, you will never want to leave this country paradise. Casa El Barco was built years ago to capture the cool breezes and the vistas of the local hills above Oaxaca. Only 20 minutes from downtown Oaxaca, it is the ideal destination for those wishing to take advantage of all the city has to offer while returning home to the quiet and clean air of San Pablo Etla, a traditional Zapotec village.
