Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This is thought to be the most spectacular view on Long Lake, sunsets behind Mt. Washington, and water views galore!

Right from the curb this cottage appeals with it’s gingerbread trim and garden, a hint of sparkling water beyond. On the water side a large deck beckons with a dining table, comfortable seating area, gas grille and all only eight feet from the water! There is another dock deck even closer, with two large lounge chairs facing the mountains. The dock itself juts about 35 feet into the lake, perfect for launching a canoe or for jumping from for a swim in the lake. There is a ladder for those who prefer a slower entry!

Upon entering the house through the front door the view straight ahead to the lake entices, but the entry is large enough for a closet, bench seat, hutch and hooks. To the right is the first floor bedroom, with two queen-sized beds, a flat screen TV and full en-suite bath. The end of the hallway opens out into the main living area, with cozy dining nook to the right, and full, open kitchen beyond featuring all amenities. The living area features a large, stone fireplace, long window seat, sofa and comfortable chair. This area features lots of glass, views, and light. Behind you is the small powder room tucked by the beautiful staircase to the second floor.

At the top of the stairs is the small den, featuring a twin cupboard bed, comfy reading chair, and writing desk that is perfect for your laptop. Then comes the master suite, and the view is spectacular through double sliders. Window seats flank a second fireplace, and plenty of comfortable seating allows great sunset views, even reflected in the large, floor length mirror. The king bed faces the water, a great scene to wake up to. There is another en-suite bath, this one with double sinks, and a separate toilet and shower area. The shower is modern, over sized, and offers choices of hand-held or rain water sprays.

The location and proximity to the water are spectacular enough to make guests never want to come in from the deck and dock. But the interiors are worthy of the site, and are in fact featured in the summer 2010 issue of a national decorating magazine.

This is a house in tip-top condition, with spectacular views…ready to make you spectacular memories.

About Katy

Pierre Janelle and Katy Gannon-Janelle fell in love with Long Lake before they ever imagined owning property there. As an innkeeper and an interior designer, the idea of renovating a home like this and then offering it for quality rental, seemed like a natural. They spent the first 8 months of ownership gutting and completely renovating the home before enjoying it the first year themselves with their two children, Christian and Charlotte. Pierre has been a Mainer all his life, Katy grew up in Massachusetts. The two met in college, and have been married 25 years.

Katy purchased this house in 2008

Why Katy chose Long Lake

Long Lake has a special feel to it. It has a peace that comes from the surrounding mountains, and the openness of the stretch of water. But it has energy too... motor boats, sails, even sea planes a few times a day. Then there's the Songo River Queen majestically plying the waters on her rounds. It is really special.

What makes this house unique

The town of Naples is so close, just down the road. There's so much to do a walk away, like shopping, jet ski rentals, mini golf. A drive can take you to golf, Seacoast Fun Park, or even to a multitude of ski options in winter. But the bottom line is, it is hard to be lured off of that front deck in the summer, or from the fireside in fall or winter. With the open floor plan, cooking meals right there in the company of family is hard to beat. Then again, being waited on at the Liberty Cafe a short drive away, or boat trip across the lake, is a good choice too. Such decisions!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved the views, sat on the dock all day! The kitchen was so new and convenient, and all the windows made for great views from inside too. We went into town for lunches at Rick's, which we recommend for people watching. This house had everything we needed, so cute but functional too!

Lakehouse Retreat in June

  • 5 of 5

Your Lakehouse on Long Lake was just perfectly serene and tranquil!

Your home was so comfortable, the lake so inviting on some very hot days and the sunsets simply gorgeous and different every night. We really enjoyed our restful week, relaxing and soaking in the summer nights with amazing sunsets behind Mt. Washington. Our week ended with an evening cruise aboard the Songo River Queen II, listening to live blues music. Our family would go back to your Lakehouse in a heartbeat! June 2017

Beautiful View: Morning, Noon and Night

  • 5 of 5

Loved our visit...got used to using the mooring for our 19' Bayliner, instead of tying up at the dock. Great location. Loved the glass slats in the outdoor railing - creates an unobstructed view. Fun and relaxing vibe with great decorator's touch. Thanks!

3rd time the charm..as usual

  • 5 of 5

Rented this house for the 3rd time....and as usual had a wonderful stay....we love how light and airy the house is....the view....and the location......if there is one area where we see room for improvement, it is the seating in the living room....a nice easy chair would be great for watching a movie in the evening

Thanks for letting us stay at your house once more...we will be back!

Family of four

  • 4 of 5

Did not expect the noise from the main road in the AM or evening, the hot spots are close by and noise can travel up the lake a bit. Also a bit more light pollution than anticipated. Sea Plane taking off every 20 minutes can get a bit irritating (no fault of owners obviously) If you are looking for some action and have kids this is the place. Plenty to do just a few minutes away. House was impeccable, modern, very well appointed. Proximity to the lake was all but a mere 10' away. Simply can't get any closer unless on a boat! Well done.

No AC in any of the rooms or fans so bring some with you in case you hit a hot spell. Leaving the deck door open is a must to get the through breeze off the lake, HOWEVER it does not have any screens so make sure the lights and TV are off as to not attract the bugs. I would certainly book this property again, not question about it. Well worth the money.
