This 1 bedroom semi-attached apartment near Vatican City with private garden is an easy commute to any of the major sights. There are a smattering of choice restaurants in the area, as well as fantastic markets and shopping to rival the Spanish Steps area.
The apartment was completely renovated in 2007. We have a responsive and personable local manager that handles apartment maintenance and meets guests for arrival and departure.
***The property has 3-star vacation rental accreditation from the City of Rome***

I'm a Chicago native who spent four years living in Rome.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2006
The Vatican / Prati neighborhood is ideal because it is residential, elegant, and central without being in the thick of the historic center.
The garden for me was the single biggest draw of the property. It's quite uncommon to have such a private outdoor space in Rome. Dining alfresco on choice goods from the local market is a rare treat. Another asset is the private nature of the space. The apartment is actually a small semi-attached house with its own entry.
My wife and I stayed in this lovely apartment for 6 weeks this summer and I can not write enough positive things about it. The location - perfect for us. Just a couple blocks from the Metro, giving us great access to all of Rome but not so close as to feel like you are bombarded by people. We loved going into the city center for the day and then being able to come back home to a less hectic environment. Safe too.
The apartment itself is very modern and clean and very functional for either a brief stay or something more like what we did - 6 weeks. Bed was comfortable. Appliances new. And the caretaker was very accessible for any questions / concerns.
The patio was a dream. I don't know how we could have managed without it - just loved being able to go outdoors for breakfast and lunch - our own private secret garden.
The area is also very convenient for supplies and restaurants - loved going a block to the supermarket or walking down the street to the indoor marketplace with the independent stalls. (I forget the name.)
Some of our best meals in Rome were had within walking distance - Beere is literally across the street, Pizzarium near the Cipro station is the best pizza in Rome, Rossovivo (a little past the pizza place) and our favorite in Rome: La Locanda Del Poeta - about a 10 minute walk.
Every morning I woke up and jogged all the way around the Vatican...because it's just a couple blocks away.
Wifi was great - very powerful. I video skyped several times.
Really - can't say enough. It was a wonderful experience.
My husband and I just returned from spending a fabulous month at Casa Dossi. The apartment far exceeded our expectations. Everything was as pictured but even better. We love to read on vacations and the couch, the bed, and the garden were very comfortable and perfect for reading. We found RAI 100 on the radio and had opera and classical music pouring through the apartment on the excellent sound system. We also love to cook and greatly appreciated the well equipped kitchen - especially the good sharp chefs knives. Every morning we walked a few blocks to the Mercato Trionfale to purchase our food for the evening meal or just to experience the vibe.
We can't say enough good things about Prati - very relaxing, very Italian, and with few tourists. We walked practically everywhere but if someplace was a little far we caught the Metro from two blocks away. As ex-New Yorkers we loved the Metro with it's clean and efficient service.
The food in Rome is wonderful. We tried many of the restaurants that Christina recommended and fell in love with Giacomelli (in Prati) and DaFelice in Testaccio. The take-out pizza place near the Cipro and Old Bridge Gelatto were amazing. We also enjoyed Gensola in Trastavere.
All in all a great experience and a perfect month. We highly recommend Casa Dossi.
My wife and I visited Rome in February 2012 for a week and could not be happier with the apartment. Cristina was extremely friendly and helpful and everything was even better than expected based on the description and pictures. Without doubt staying there was one of our best decisions and made the trip extra special.
The private entrance, comfortable & contemporary furnishings, bathroom, bedroom, oversized sofa’s, reliable internet and garden patio were all huge plusses vs. any hotel. And having a well equipped kitchen was wonderful as we enjoyed cooking a few meals and eating in with one of our daughters currently living in Rome. The location was perfect for us as the Prati neighborhood is very nice and bit more relaxed than Trastevere and Navona. Access to all the major sites is very easy via bus, walking, or the Metro which we caught almost every day only 2 blocks from the apartment at the Cipro station.
We were a little cautious in regards to markets and restaurants in the area based on some reviews, but there was no need. We loved the variety of markets from small to the Carrefour market near the Cipro Station to Mercato Trionfale an easy walk from the apartment, and someplace you have to visit.
We ate all over Rome, but our favorites restaurants were Nuraghe Sardo and La Fiorentina, both close to the apartment. Food and service were great, but the friendliness, personal touch and ease of conversation with the staff meant the most. On the top of the list though is Nuraghe Sardo. The owner and staff treated us like royalty, talked and joked with us each time we were there and the Sardinian fare was the best food we had. Our only negative experience was at Sagra del Vino where we were obviously not welcome and quickly departed the nearly empty restaurant after being told by an unfriendly owner that it’d be a 3 hour wait. Our favorite place for gelato was down the hill from the apartment on Via di San Thommaso d’Aquina at Via Trionfale, and our favorite café for cappuccino and a snack (almost every morning) was right next to the Cipro Metro station on Via Rialto.
All in all this was our best European vacation, made so in large part by the apartment. It was such a joy to come back to every evening and we could not more highly recommend a stay at Casa Dossi. We’ll be back!
What can I say? Excellent location, close to bus and metro, shops, restaurants and the Vatican. Private entrance is a plus. Private garden is heavenly! The apartment is exactly as described...only better. I found the apartment clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils and toiletries. I've stayed here twice before and plan to return again in May 2012. It has always been a pleasure to rent with Christina..hassle free!
An absolutely lovely, modern, bright, clean apartment that made my month in Rome truly memorable. Christina was always quick to respond to my e-mails & very personable when contacted by phone. The welcome package sent prior to arrival was full of useful information and exact directions on how to find the apartment. What a great help in planning my stay. Trionfale market was amazing and close. After going to the same vendors a few times, you are remembered & greeted warmly. The kichen was well-equipped to prepare full meals and having an oven not just a stovetop was nice. I really liked the way the apartment was furnished and the sliding glass doors that could separate the areas. The little details helped to make it feel like my home away from home: the blanket and pillows on the couch, the two nightstands each with a reading light in the bedroom, the glass display case, the stereo with the ability to play my iPod and even the iron and ironing board. The garden was a nice place to have lunch and enjoy the sun in the early afternoon. Having internet access and a washing machine available was great. There are many guidebooks available as well as novels. There are bus stops on the same block as the apartment and the Cipro metro stop is only two blocks away so it is really easy to travel around Rome. A few blocks further is the Appiano train station which is on the local line to Bracciano and Viterbo-both good day trips from Rome. I can recommend Ristorante Micci and Pizzarium that are close to the apartment. Also, Trattoria da Luigi in piazza Sforza Cesarini near Chiesa Nuova is a favourite. Two great meat and cheese shops nearby are La Tradizione on via Cipro and Paciotti on via Marcantonio Bragadin. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this wonderful apartment to anyone who wants a real taste of Rome.
This is our first experience using VRBO and we highly recommend it to anyone asking. Christina's apt is absolutely gorgeous and the garden patio very condusive for intimate meals. The location is excellent as it is away from the noise of the nightlife in Rome. Our 4-days in Rome were everything that we thought they would be and so much more! We will be back for sure!
