House, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 12)
Grandma Stella had a dream. She and her children and grandchildren helped design and build a holiday house- a magical place where 3 or 4 families could come together and have fun, and also have private space for renewal and relaxation. A unique design makes it cozy enough for 4 and spacious enough for 12. This lakehouse is Stella's Dream. We hope our magical place will become your magical place.
The main floor has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. The lower walkout level has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, one of the bedrooms has its own sitting area - great for the grandparents or families wanting to keep younger children close. Tuck away the older children or other guests in the loft level bedroom with a bunk bed (double lower and single upper) as well as a twin bed. Also in the loft challenge friends to foosball, or board games, play at the keyboard or reminisce watching old VCR movies.
Three bathrooms, two with showers, one with soaker tub ensure the bathroom lineups stay short even with a full house! Yep, we are on a septic system. Take care! Drinking water is reverse osmosis. Showers are soft water. Use water wisely. We are now on a water metre.
Don't miss any of the action in the kitchen. This house is designed around a spacious kitchen with counter seating for 6 and additional dining table seating for 6. The deck and hassle free propane barbecue are steps away. Views are great from all main floor lake windows.
The walkout lower level covered patio is not only a 60 second slow stroll to Hidden Bay beach but has great space outside to drip dry all the wet suits, towels, life jackets and other soggy beachwear and toys...another hassle free design. Washer, dryer and fridge are just upgraded. Stella's Dream Lakehouse is bright, clean and well maintained. Each level has different spaces to relax, play games watch tv or listen to music.
Meet your new neighbors at the beach -- boaters, water skiers, wake boarders and youngsters trying to catch the fish that got away. Catch a float or swim in the safe swimming area. Our neighbours might take you kayaking to the water lilies at the south end of the lake.
Pick raspberries, pears, apples in the grassy back yard by day; watch the stars from the beach or deck at night. Marvel at the beautiful lake views and sunsets. You likely will see deer in Windermere, possibly our yard.
Walk a block to the Family Pantry in the morning to buy a paper if you must. Prepay and they will reserve one for you. Family Pantry also sells food and liquor- great to be so close. A longer walk or a five minute drive gets you to Windermere Hopkins Market for fresh local produce, baking, different meats and items that will surprise you. Eat in or take out.
All ages and abilities can be accommodated at the many golf courses. Take a hike to see the hoodoos, or see them from the air by the local flying company. Explore the vibrant arts community, Saturday market, shopping and wine and dining in Inveremere, Radium and Fairmont.
Start planning your fall and winter activities now! Remember this is a great place to watch salmon swimming upstream to spawn in the early fall.
Panorama Ski Resort is a 45 minute drive away. Ski or board some of the longest runs in Canada. Remember the Bugaboo Heli skiing starts from here. You'll want to come back in every season!

About Wendy Tink
Stella, my Mum, had a dream. She dreamt of a family owned place where her children, families and friends could come together and play. And she and we made it happen! Why here? The vibrant Windermere Valley with lots of summer and winter sports for the whole family made this a perfect place. Why then? Widowed in 1987, the time was right to create a living lasting legacy for all to enjoy. And enjoy we did. Friends and family helped design walls, nail, sand, tile, pick colours, paint, carry concrete blocks, sow grass seed, plant junipers, build decks. and pour concrete. When it was super hot a jump in the lake cooled us off. Sometimes too little to help, our children would come up from the beach with notes from our neighbours.. can your kids go on a boat ride with us? They and we have made fabulous friends here and we are happy to share our legacy/Stella's Dream with our Windermere and Calgary friends. Our youngest now is the best golfer, and catches the most fish. All of us learned how to work together, to compromise, and develop something greater than ourselves. It was a lot of work. It was worth it. Together in the summer we picked apples, raspberries, pears and played. Together that whipped cream for the pies ended up on just about every grandchild every year. Grandma lived the dream and brought everyone with her. Her influence at the Lakehouse is everywhere. Each wall and paint colour has a story. Our families have grown up now and family members have moved on. I invite you, with my 2 adult children to become a member of our Stella's Dream Windermere Lakehouse family and enjoy our magical place.
Wendy Tink purchased this House in 1993
Why Wendy Tink chose Windermere
Lots to do, summer and winter, when not lazing around having fun with family and friends, made this the perfect spot for us. Easy to get to from Calgary for a weekend or longer any time of year! Two really close beaches for swimming and water sports. One, Hidden Bay you can see from our back deck a hop skip and a jump away. A few blocks in the other direction enjoy the Windermere Public Beach with beautiful white sand, a playground and restrooms. Our property, as well as the house uphill of ours, once belonged to the Pepperdine family, long time residents of Windermere. Subsequently subdivided we built Stella's Dream so not to obstruct the neighbour's view. The bench at the end of the property was built specifically for Stella to watch lake activities as she gardened.
What makes this House unique
The design- great for multi- family groups to share fun times and private times. Five separate bedrooms on 3 floors. Common gathering/play spaces on each floor. The main level wrap around deck- great lake views. Ground level deck, fully covered. The location- beach, local shops, eateries and you dont have to drive anywhere if you dont want to! The fruit- in season. Fantastic experiences for we city slickers.

Don't miss the summer Saturday morning markets, local bake, butcher and ice cream shops or wine tours. Purchase or donate to the Thrift Shop and support the Invermere Hospital. Bank of Montreal is the only bank in town, but Sobeys Invermere will give you cash back. Tired of in town?.... just "get out of town"- more mountain bike trails are opening overlooking the river valley, book hang gliding and air plane rides. Radium and Fairmont Hot pools are a short drive away - more golf, food, hiking, shopping. Radium has an adult play ground worth a look! Golfing options are legion! A wide selection of Par 3 golf courses, right up to award winning Grey Wolf at Panorama await your visit. Coy is small, and beautifully landscaped. Copperpoint has family specials and well designed courses to match every ability. Windermere Valley golf course is great for groups of all abilities. Got some adrenaline seeking water babies in your group? White water rafting, boat rentals including non motorized boats at Pete's Marina may be just what you are looking for. Great pizza to pick up on your way to our place in Windermere or pick up meals for 4 at Hopkins Harvest- great value Fridays and Saturdays. Looking for a bit more upscale dining experience? Strands offers exceptional food in an historical house. Catch a very economincal early bird dinner on Fridays or reserve for later and dine inside, or on the veranda - a lovely setting for those later adult group evenings. Many other restaurants are great. Check out Portobellos in Invermere or drive to Hoodoo Grill, past the hoodoos for a memorable dining and live music experience. No visit to Invermere is complete without picking up pastries and breads at Quality Bakery-a very long tradition of serving take away and eat in items all day. I love to vist Artym Gallery- main street Invermere every time I visit. This bright and airy gallery showcases many artists, local and world class. Paintings, glass, carvings, metal works, jewelry, all are eye catching. 'Just looking' or an interested prospective buyer, the owners, Connie and Grey are always welcoming! If you go, tell them Wendy sent you. Nope, no commission but a great experience! After Artym Gallery a must visit for me is Details ( ladies upscale clothes, reasonably priced and the adjacent The Three Bears shop for home furnishings with a flare. We seldom leave empty handed. The Toursit Information Centre close to Invermere Crossing can help you plan for seasonal events, hiking trails, glider options and musical events. Interesting things to do abound. Oh by the way Kicking Horse Coffee is roasted in Invermere. My favorite is the Three Sisters. Try them all by the mug, whole or ground beans. Most of all tho....don't forget great holidays build in time to take it easy and relax and enjoy friends and family at our Lakehouse. ...just what Stella had in mind. Summer or winter.
