Property has been in the family over 40 years. We are second generation owners. We take great pride in keeping the property clean and neat.
Lake Tahoe is truly a year around vacation paradise. Summer weather is ideal, seldom getting above 90 degrees. Fall colors are wonderful! Winter wonderland with skiing from slopes where you can view one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Springs are cool, with the melting snow filling the creeks. A true wonderland!
Property is close to many things to do. Hiking out the front door, sandy beach about 3 miles south. Alpine skiing 5 minutes in winter, and close to many more throughout the Lake Tahoe basin. Within walking distance to the trailhead of the world famous Rubicon Trail. Nevada casinos a short drive. Reno is about one hour away. Boat launching nearby. State Parks along the west shore of Tahoe.
This cabin was perfect in every way. It is well kept, very easy to rent, and priced very reasonably. It is easily accessible off the main road (HWY 89), and located in a very quiet neighborhood. The owner, Mike, was a pleasure to work with, and made it so easy to rent (keys sent ahead of time, email explaining where everything was and how it works, notes in the cabin with excellent directions, etc.). Without a doubt the cabin was the most up to date and well equipped rental we have ever stayed in. Everything worked as expected, and we literally didn’t need to bring anything (including books, video’s, snow toys, plenty of linens, etc. – it even had electric blankets on each bed!). We will definitely recommend this cabin to our friends, and will stay there again in the future.
I normally don't take time to write positive reviews as often as I should. However, the entire experience in renting and staying at this cabin was so easy, straightforward and the cabin itself was perfect for our family. I appreciate the cabin is set up in a way that we didn't have to worry about logistics while we were there. All the instructions etc. are set up logically and straightforward. The cabin itself is wonderful. We had enough room to have privacy (with the split level) but it also has a wonderful family/living room which was cozy with books and video tapes/DVDs to enjoy. My 7 year old saw his first VHS tape there. : )
Although the snow conditions were marginal, we had a wonderful time bike riding and enjoying Homewood, Tahoma and Tahoe City. Great location, great cabin. Highly recommend.
Super nice place for big family with up to 8 persons! Everything is just perfect! The carbin and facilities are well maintained and carefully organized by owner. I will stay here again if have chance to come back to the Lake tahoe : )
We had a family gathering right after Christmas and this was a wonderful way to get away and have some time to spend with each other. The cabin was just perfect for us, we used the upstairs bedroom for family members who came for a short visit and the downstairs for the rest of us. The cabin was well equipped and we loved the detailed instructions for everything.
The beds were clean and warm, great heated mattress covers.
This was a great cabin for my family of 5. The loft was perfect for the kids. We loved the separate bathrooms upstairs. One had a shower and sink and one had a toilet and sink-perfect for 3 boys! I loved the kitchen. I had everything I needed to cook and pack lunch for the beach. The tub downstairs was a luxury! The family room was great for watching a movie or playing games with plenty of room to sit and relax. My husband was able to do some work on the desk in the bedroom. We also enjoyed knowing there is a long family history at this cabin. We highly recommend it!
The only thing we really missed was a fire pit in the back for roasting marshmallows.
There was a full house of us staying during a long weekend. Despite there being several of us, it never seemed crammed inside the cabin. Kitchen was very functional to make most of our meals, sleeping areas were comfy, and heat/water were not issues at all. Homewood Ski is within 5 min. away and walking trails nearby as well.
Plenty of VHS/DVD (yes, VHS!) of classic Disney & 80's movies! During the winter nights, it's a great way to remember the glory days, or show your kids what good movies are.
Overall, we liked the cabin. It was a few minutes from the Homewood ski resort. and fairly close to Squaw Valley. The cabin was cute, clean and well maintained.
We were just four people staying, but I guess the living room area is a bit small for 8 people.
The one-person jacuzzi was pretty nice after a day on the slopes. Just beware that once you fill it with hot water, it may take the water-heater quite some time (definitely more than 30 minutes), to reheat the water. I had to shower with cold water after using the jacuzzi.
The CO alarm went off once for no reason. We had to call the owners, but their numbers were long distance and the cabin's phone could not dial long distance. We were lucky that our cell phones had a bit of reception. So, we called the owner and he helped us out, and checked on later if everything was OK.
It would be great if the owners could provide a local number that can be reached with the cabin's phone. They can get a local number from Google voice for a one-time fee of $10, and redirect it to their cell phone.
Other than that, it was great. Would definitely stay again.
