About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This condominium has everything you want in a Santa Fe rental: magnificent mountain views, great location - close to everything, Southwest style, exceptional morning light, privacy and quiet.

Perched on a hillside on the third (top) floor of this well maintained condo complex, this unit faces the Sangre Mountains & Santa Fe Ski Basin. A wall of windows and French doors spans the width of the living and dining room focusing on the views allowing for a beautiful play of light upon the clouds and mountains at Sunrise and Sunset and throughout the day. The French doors open onto your private balcony spanning the width of the condo, again, with spectacular mountain and skyline views. The balcony is suitable for outdoor dining and relaxing. There is another condo building slightly to the right as you look towards the mountains from the balcony. This building obstructs the highway but it doesn't obstruct your view of the mountains.

The unit is well located -- a 1.4 mile walk or drive to the Plaza - the center of Santa Fe which has the attractions so many visitors come to Santa Fe to experience.

This unit is chocked full of Southwestern Style. Each piece of furniture has been handpicked to represent the rustic Mexican style unique to the Southwest. The art work tastefully reflects the surrounding landscapes and cultures of the Native Americans. The New Mexican latilla and wood beamed ceiling, stone tiled floors, and custom tile counter tops and splash-backs in the kitchen and bathroom are all Southwest features rarely found in rental condominiums in this price range. Even the door to the bathroom is a work of art in itself with hand painted panels from Mexico.

Condo Features include:

One bedroom and one bath

Living room with dining area

Flat Screen television with cable and DVD player

Wi-Fi Internet access

Kitchen with full-size appliances including refrigerator, stove with oven, dishwasher, as well as all cook and dishware

Sunny breakfast bar

Latillas and wood beamed ceiling provide New Mexican charm

Custom tile work on counter tops and flooring

Southwestern furnishings and artwork throughout

Laundry - washer and dryer inside the unit

Central heat and air conditioning

Large private balcony

Off Street - outdoor parking

This is one of the quietest and most private units within Cielo Grande Condominiums. The unique top-floor location, at the end of the building, results in the best mountain views. Yet the unit is in a building set further back from the traffic than other buildings. Access to the condo is at the end of a breezeway on the top floor so no one is passing outside your unit trying to get elsewhere. Quiet & Privacy!

The DeVargas Shopping Center is three-tenths of a mile away for the convenience of longer term guests in need of the practicalities of day-to-day life including several well known local restaurants, Starbucks, Albertsons Supermarket, Save-On Drugstore, Office Depot, Post Office, a 'six-plex' movie theater, Hastings video and DVD rentals, as well as many other smaller stores and boutiques. Santa Fe Spa is a walk up the hill and offers some of the best workout facilities in town. Fort Marcy Fitness Complex & Pool is five minutes away by car, open to the public by the day, week or month and includes a full gymnasium, weights and aerobic equipment and indoor swimming pool.

Parking is right off 285/84 so commuters to Los Alamos, 'The Lab,' Santa Fe Opera, Taos, and other points north can completely avoid going through Santa Fe. Hop on 285/84 South, also known as St. Francis for easy access to the Plaza, Rail Yard District, Farmer’s Market, Museum Hill, and all that Santa Fe has to offer.

If you don't have a car, you can take the Sandia shuttle from the Albuquerque Sunport or the Railrunner train. They drop off and pick up at all hotels and B&B's.

It's possible to get around without a car, however it's a bit inconvenient. Renters who try to stay without a car end up renting one.

Santa Fe Pick Up is the free shuttle in town.

Access to the unit requires going up twenty-one (21) steps. There is no elevator – please see my other VRBO listing #68574 for a unit with elevator access.

About Walter Cohen

I'm an Osteopathic Doctor in my final year of residency in Kirksville, MO.

Walter Cohen purchased this condo in 2006

Why Walter Cohen chose New Mexico

I love the southwest charm, location and size of this condo. I lived in this condo for a number of years. I loved being able to walk or bike anywhere anytime- to the plaza, farmer's market, coop, rail runner, cafes and restaurants. And I loved the view of the mountains.

What makes this condo unique

The view of the mountains, kiva fireplace, french doors on the balcony, southwestern decor and extra window I installed overlooking the trees in the courtyard make the condo feel very cozy. Because of the special location in this complex, it always feels private.

Very nice and comfortable

We enjoyed our stay here. We unfortunately had some rainy, chilly days so the fireplace came in handy and very enjoyable. Nice place, would book again.

Pleasant casita/condo near downtown Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

The last week in October my wife and I spent a week in Walter and Carrie's condo near downtown Santa Fe, NM. It is very homey and comfortable. Throughout the rental process they kept us well informed of the rental procedures and step by step directions on how to get there and how everything functioned in the condo. The facility was very Southwest styled, which we enjoyed. Especially the huge 'kiva' fireplace. The days were beautiful for October and nights were quite cool which prompted us to 'fire up' the kiva nightly for a warm atmosphere with snacks and a glass of wine. An afternoon 'happy hour' on the balcony afforded us the opportunity to take in the great mountain views of the surrounding.

area.

Walter checked in by email regularly to make certain everything was going well. We would recommend this unit to others.

Perfect Getaway for Two !

  • 5 of 5

This was everything we hoped it would be, very clean, convenient location, well equipped with everything needed. The owners were great, supplied a list of restaurants and things to do in the area. This condo is so close to many great restaurants and local sites. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here so much better than a hotel. It was a sweet little place tucked away in a quite space and the view from the patio is beautiful. We hope to return again and would definitely stay here. Our visit to Santa Fe was perfect and it all started here!

We had a great time at this very clean, comfortable, quiet and well appointed condo! It is close to stores, and very close to the Plaza. The owner was very helpful with questions I had and I would highly recommend this condo as a place to stay when you visit the beautiful Santa Fe and surrounding areas.
