This adorable beach house was completely renovated when purchased, and has hard wood floors and lots of sunny windows. Fresh paint and beach themed amenities make this a cozy home-away-from home. There is a small yard with trees and a trellis for privacy, and has in-yard parking. A bi level porch with table, chairs and umbrella is just off the sliding glass door and leads to a grill and small water fountain. There is a 'master' bedroom with a full bed, a smaller bedroom with large, comfortable bunk beds and indoor and outdoor shower.
Just minutes from the beach, guests can also easily walk to the island restaurants, general store and to beautiful sunset views. Downtown Newburyport, Mass Audubon and the Parker River Reserve are also very close by and missing any (summer) crowds. Guests are often able to hear the waves breaking at the beach from the home's location on a quiet one way street.
For winter getaways, there is a wood stove, leisurely, nearly private walks on the beach, and great shopping in Newburyport, and nearby Kittery Outlets in Maine.

My husband and I live in the Boston metro area, and work in media and construction.
Ellen Daly purchased this cottage in 2008
We purchased this 'fixer upper' because the North Shore area is just so beautiful, and affords so much to do. The house is a great year round get away in a quiet spot, and we restored it with lots of color and area decor.
Quiet, natural serenity, great shopping and top notch restaurants, along with incredible opportunities for nature watching of all kinds. The island is flat and accessible and great for bike rides, and very close to New Hampshire and Maine.
We were looking for a place at the beach and wow, did we luck out! What a nice place to relax and unwind and only a short walk to the beach, two stores and two restaurants! We loved the Plum Island Beachcoma restaurant and they didn't seem to mind us in our beach coverups and flip flops!Definately want to rent again!
Our families and friends stayed at Ellen's cottage this summer. It was the perfect ocean get away in between visiting families in Montreal and going back to Paris. The cottage was sparkling clean. Everything was there for us to enjoy our stay. With a young baby we didn't went out much but the kitchen is so well equipped that we managed to cook gastronomic dinner the whole week. Not to mention that we enjoyed lobster at almost everyday.
Plum Island is a real gem in New England. With the wild life reserve, the beautiful beach and the warm people, we can only recommend Ellen nice and cozy cottage for your stay there.
We rented Ellen's cottage on Olga Way the last week of July and had a great time. There were a few other places available to us on this last-minute vacation, but once we stepped foot inside Ellen's and read the personal note she had left for us, we knew we had made the right decision.
The house is kept in immaculate shape and tastefully decorated with a beach theme. It was equipped with everything we needed (from kitchen utensils to propane in the BBQ) and the place suited us perfectly. We would wake up with the ocean breeze, have a nice breakfast on the deck and then head down for a day at the beach (3 minutes walk). In the evening we would enjoy some post-beach drinks back on the patio as we decided whether to head into Newburyport to try some of the restaurants, or stay put for a home cooked meal and a moonlit walk on the beach. Not to mention we were able to walk to both Mad Martha's and the Plum Island Grill from Ellen's which were both worth the visit.
We had perfect weather to relax on a great beach and Ellen's cottage was the ideal rental making it a summer vacation we will remember for years to come.
