Another month in sunny, laid back, rustic Andros has passed and has been as much fun as last year, good to be reacquainted with friends that we made last year (Phil, Jan, Joe to name a few) not forgetting our canine friends Mercedes, Baby, Milly, Bella, Buckie and Shadow the new dog on the block who all escorted us on every walk along the beach we took and also swam with us!
The weather has been 90% amazing and just perfect for fishing, we have never seen as many bonefish and had them fighting over our flies and even swimming over our feet - just superb! The fishing flats here are vast and firm for wading, the best that we have come across in the Bahamas that are so easily accessible, Andros is a true bone fisherman's paradise whether you are a DIY fisherman or take a guide.
We also fished quite regularly from the dock and shore where we caught a variety of fish, 'cuda, snapper, jacks, box fish, hound fish all of which tasted so good and kept our energy levels up for the miles of wading for what we really came for - bone fish!
The wild life here won't let you down, we saw dolphins swim past our cottage, turtles, manta rays, sting rays, eagle rays, ospreys swooping down to catch fish, herons, egrets and even a wild pig.
Once again we have to say a very big thank you to Princess and Mario who were both on hand for any help and advice needed. Mario has a wealth of fish preparation information (box fish, ‘cuda, hound fish - some of the fish we caught were a little unusual to us) we also have to thank him for his sky juice recipe!
The cottage has been a wonderful place to stay, very clean, comfortable bright and airy, we also welcomed the improvements that Trevor has made in the last year, new bed, new aircon unit, new covers on the sofas, fly screen on the door....
keep up the good work Trevor.
This is truly an amazing place to have an adventure holiday, fish, kayak, swim/snorkle or just relax on the beach with a good book.
We will be back!
