Watch the sailboats and fishing boats come and go at the very nearby village of Dromineer. Take a trip on the lake on a 50-seater tour boat.

Alternatively, rent a small sailboat or fishing boat and go exploring on your own. The fishing in the area is great, especially for pike and trout. Local experienced fishing guides will be glad to provide instruction and local knowledge. Facilities on site include an outdoor horse gallop or a trek on a pony and trap can also be organized for the visitor who wants to see the local countryside.

Incedently Our Cottage is also located 10 miles from the famous village of Moneygall where President Obama's ancestors came from. President Obama and his wife Michelle visited this village in May 2011.

The location of the Cottage facilitates a 2 mile wallk/drive to the lakeside village of Dromineer on Lough Derg which boasts Lough Derg Yacht Club, we are 5 miles from the nearest town of Nenagh. The Cottage is located a 50 yard stroll to the walking trail of Sli Eala.

It is such an ideal setting - day trips to the Cliffs of Moher, Killarney, the Burren, or the Dingle Peninsula or a shorter day exploring the smaller quaint towns of Terryglass (on Lough Derg) and then Killaloe (on the river Shannon) both a short 15-20 minute drive and the castles in Birr and Limerick about a 40 minute drive. The M-7 (major highway) is only minutes away which cut the long day trips travel time easily by half. Vist the local Pubs for Pub-Grub ie. the Whiskey Still in Dromineer, the Thatched Cottage in Ballycommon and Larkins Pub in nearby Garrkennedy. These pubs also specialise in irish music where one can dance or indeed relax and chat the locals. Nenagh is a quaint and friendly town and just walking through the town and having coffee/tea and a ‘sweet’ in The Pantry, Country Choice or Quigley’s Bakery or visiting the butcher at Hanlons to buy wonderful local meats are all a treat.

We love having guests to stay, sharing life at our cottage, who will enjoy our friendship and a lovely place to stay.

Every Modern convenience in a Magical setting....

  • 5 of 5

It was a lovely place to stay. There were five of us and we were very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and the terrace is lovely when the sun shines. The fire downstairs made it cosy on the damp days. The bathrooms are well appointed and plenty of hot water. For us it was a holiday of many vivd rainbows and wonderful walks along the Nenagh River. We picked field mushrooms and fried them in butter and picked blackberries and made crumbles. We visited the local woollen mill - Hanley's not to be missed. There are some fine places to eat nearby. Nenagh is a great town for shopping and local produce. Would we stay again - yes. Both Jeanette and Steven were really helpful but we got all the privacy we wanted too. We couldn't have liked it more....

Gort Na gCapall Cottage is a very lovely place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was wonderful! My wife and I, our three adult children and two spouses, felt very at home and slept wonderfully in this cottage. Even with our limited experiences in Ireland, this location is the epitome of an Irish country atmosphere. We measured how early we were leaving for each day's adventure by whether we had beaten the cows to the pasture or not. The two local pubs, the Whiskey Still in Dromineer and the Thatched Roof in Ballycommon were very friendly and overly cordial. Nenagh is less than 10 mnutes away and has great pubs as well.

Our trip consisted of visiting, Limerick, Galway, Waterford, Blarney, Cork, the Giants Causeway, and Mullingar. We were able to get to all of these destinations and return each night to the cottage. Being from the U.S., once we got used to driving on the left side of the road, all of the highways were easily accessible from the cottage.

Finally, we cannot discuss this cottage without saying thank you to the owners and hosts, Jeanette and Stephen Seymore. When we arrived, we noticed that the lights were not working. I contacted Jeanette, her husband Stephen was on site within minutes as they live very close. After going through the cottage and finding everything should be working, he made some calls and found that there was a local outage. He suggested we head to the Whiskey Still as they had power. When we walked into the pub, the owners immediately sat us down and took care of us. Their kitchen had already closed, but they fired up the grill and we were able to have dinner, with of course, a couple of pints. It might be a while until we return to Ireland, but when we do, this is where we will stay.

Perfect location for a stunning property !!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 10 days exploring Ireland from this stunning, centrally located property. The property and owner provided us a 5 star experience. We visited the Ring of Kerry, cliffs of Moher, Dublin, Galway, Doolin, Cork and so much more. We loved watching the sunsets from the patio. This home had everything we could wish for and more. Plenty of space with two living rooms, multiple eating areas and comfortable beds. A lifetime experience for our family was perfect

Wonderful Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We could have not asked for a more relaxing place to stay on our Ireland adventure. We had 7 in our party and had plenty of room to spread out. The interior was exceptionally clean with up to date everything. Situated on the owner's beautiful dairy farm, we could have easily spent all our days there having tea on the patio and watching the cows graze. The owner's were readily available for any questions or recommendations. Thank you Stephen and Jeanette for a wonderful stay!!
