Why Deep Creek Lodging Company chose Deep Creek Lake

Notes from the Owner: We bought Lakeside Vista for our own use, and opened the home to rentals so that other people could enjoy the same relaxing experience we have every summer when we make our annual vacation at Deep Creek.

Deep Creek Lake is a hidden gem, tucked perfectly away in the mountains - we chose Lakeside Vista for its central location on the lake, and its position at the end of a quiet lane (Old Chestnut Drive), where you won't have any traffic, so that you can fully embrace the lake lifestyle at its best!

What makes this house unique

The huge stone patio is perfect for entertaining and barbecues; the sloping, level lakefront yard is great for badminton, horseshoes or frisbee. The dock offers plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the day swimming or sitting by the water's edge.

The house is in a fantastic location and I love the boat dock. I do feel the write up as well as the comments were very misleading. When we arrived and turned on the water is was the worst smell ever. It smelled like we were in a sulfur spring. When we called the realators they were not helpful at all and said that it was normal. The patio is a complete mess and really needs some attention. The kitchen may have been stocked but not fully and it's very tiny and very outdated. The downstairs also needs some attention and updating. You need a roof overtop the patio and then it will prevent all the stuff being tracked into the house that falls from the trees. The upstairs is very cute and has a lot of potential.

Owner's Response: We very much regret that our guests didn't enjoy their stay at Lakeside Vista. We do appreciate getting feedback on our home, and try to respond and address things when brought to our attention. In this case, we felt that it was important to clarify some of the circumstances mentioned in this review. The guest arrived in our home on May 25th and called to report a concern about the water a couple hours later. Our property manager explained that it is very common at the lake for well water to have a slight sulfur odor when it has sat in the pipes for a few days. She asked the guests to run/flush the water and give it some time to clear out. We spoke directly with the property manager and they followed up diligently with the guest to try and make them happy. We arrived here 4 days after this guest stayed, we ran the water for less than 5 minutes and the very minor sulfur odor was gone. As mentioned, this is a common occurrence with well water at Deep Creek Lake. We've had no issues with the water since arriving 5 days ago. The weather at the lake does get breezy, and when it does - some branches, leaves, etc. may blow onto our patio. We have lawn/garden service every week, as well as housecleaners, but it's hard to win over Mother Nature. The kitchen looks exactly as it does in the photographs and video on the VRBO listing. The range is less than 2 years old, the dishwasher is only 3 years old... while we hope to do a kitchen redesign soon, we simply have to respectfully disagree with our guest calling it "outdated". Our home was originally built as a small lake cottage in the late 40's/early 50's, and had been significantly expanded prior to us buying it - what attracted us to the home is the way the redesign preserved core elements of the original home, all of which are downstairs. Some call that 'outdated' - we think it's really cool to have it that way. We feel our property managers are top-notch and very responsive to your needs. We encourage anyone considering renting our home to both look at the photos and video link so that you can decide in advance if our home will provide the comfort and feel that you're seeking for your Deep Creek Lake vacation. We hope so.

My family and I (4 adults and 2 children age 12) stayed at this lovely lakefront home the 2nd week of August 2011. The house was charming, very clean, well-kept and roomy enough for 6 people. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots/pans, etc. The boat dock being just a few feet away from the house is very convenient. The dock itself is a nice size and we enjoyed swimming and fishing (caught a little Bass one evening). After spending fun days of boating and tubing on the lake, we enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings and making smores! The kids loved the pool table and us adults loved the hot tub! The location of the home in proximity to restaurants, grocery stores, etc., was a short drive away (by both car and boat). If one is staying in the heat of the Summer, however, I would recommend bringing a couple of fans as the house is not air conditioned, and no matter how cool or often the wind comes off of the lake during the day/night, the humidity is somewhat uncomfortable. All-in-all, we enjoyed our week at Deep Creek Lake and Lakeside Vista!

3 years in a row...

we have enjoyed a family vacation here and the home is not only well maintained but also subtle improvements have been made each year. The lake access with large pier and outdoor amenities continues to draw us back. The proximity to Deep Creek's various attractions is a real benefit. We are already looking forward to our return next year.

Great stay

The site was excellent. Close to restaurants and shopping by boat or car.

Well maintained property, just like the pictures. That isn't always the case with our rental experience. This was a first class home, with first class amenities and you just knew the owners enjoyed the property as well.

The kids really enjoyed the volleyball and horseshoes we set up. You know those are things we don't do unless we go away as a family.

We had a few friends stop in for a nite or two and they wished they had plan to stay longer. In fact, one of them called the owner and booked the property for next year. We are back to back.

We swam, boated(rented a pontoon boat, real easy) and took a car ride to the state park and enjoyed the scenary and waterfalls.

Nothing like a barbeque, cold beer and hot tub.

To sum it up: fantastic and relaxing.
