Enjoy your vacation at the beautiful and tranquil Pohailani Resort in Kahana. Located on Maui’s famed Westside you will be steps away from sandy Kahana Beach, shopping and restaurants. Lush tropical landscaping surrounds 2 pools, several barbeque areas, laundry facilities and a tennis/basketball court. Kana’apali Beach is 5 minutes away and Lahaina Town is just 10 minutes away, by car or public transit. Just some of the many reasons why Pohailani Resort is so popular with residents and visitors alike. The moment you arrive on Maui you will realize why you came. The warm feeling of tropical breezes and the famous warm Maui sunshine will make you feel that coming to Kahana is the best vacation decision you could have ever made. The Kahana area is on the west side of Maui just north of historical Lahaina. Our complex is very large and extends right up to the ocean. Most of the units are arranged around the the outside of the grounds, and the large interior grounds have with lots of trees, grass, and lush vegetation in a park-like setting. The pools and BBQ areas are all on the inside area. The ocean at Kahana Beach is just a few steps away from our unit. You can access the sandy part of the beach just a few minutes north or south of our unit. Kahana beach usually has calm seas and good snorkeling. The lagoon/inner-reef directly in front of the complex is a wonderful place to explore. If you do not have snorkeling or diving gear, it can be rented at Boss Frog's which is a 1 minute walk next to Dollie's Pizza. The Kahana Gateway Shopping Center is only a 1 minute walk away. You can get there from the back of our complex without having to go on a public road. There you will find restaurants, banks, gas station, a coffee shop/internet café, McDs, and shops providing locally-made and imported items. Just a short distance (1 minute walk) down Lower Honoapiilani Road is the Valley Isle Resort, the home of the Valley Isle Fitness Center. If you’re missing your daily workout at the gym 'back home' – this is the place to go. Of course there are so many other places and beaches close by that you will also want to explore. Whalers Village and the Ka’anapali beach area is just a 5 minute drive, and the he shops and galleries of Lahaina Town are just a 10 minute drive. The Cannery Mall with a huge Safeway, Longs Drugs, Starbuck and lots of shops is just a 7 minute drive.

Pohailani 221 is a 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom 2nd floor duplex unit with loft that comfortably sleeps 6. The master bedroom has a queen bed and shoji doors that open to the main living area that has a queen pullout sofa. The second bedroom has a twin bed, pull-out single, and a computer desk with high speed wireless access. There is also a loft with bed that is accessible by ladder and great for kids of all ages! There is cable TV in the living room. Vaulted ceilings and ceiling fans throughout contribute to the airy tropical feel of this unit. A large covered lanai overlooks the smaller of the two pools and provides dining for four. Perfect for a relaxing cocktail while keeping a close eye on the kids in the pool!

The fully equipped kitchen has charming Balinese cabinets, stainless steel countertops and updated appliances. A three person kitchen bar provides another dining area and a way to interact with the cook and contributes to the open layout of the condo.

The ocean is just a few steps away (89 adult steps to be exact). One way to access the sandy part of Kahana is through the Valley Isle resort just a few minutes walk to the south. The beach (Kahana1 and Kahana2) gets wider as you go farther to the left (south) and there is a public access path just south of the Kahana Sands hotel. Kahana beach is usually a calm beach and it has good snorkeling. If you walk north from our unit about 100 yards along Lower Honoapiilani Road next to the Kahana Village complex, there is public shoreline access (ShoreLine1, ShoreLine2) to a very nice very flat water beach. We like this the best. There is also a really nice untouched little beach (LittleBeach1, LittleBeach2) just off the road a little north from there. The famous Kapalua Beach (Kapalua1, Kapalua2)area is just 3 minutes drive north just next to the SeaHouse Restaurant. There is lots of free parking, washrooms, and a nice strip of grass with palm trees for shade above the beach. The trail along

This was great accommodation for our family of five.

What we liked:

-nice location close to great snorkeling beaches and also a quick drive into Lahaina

-lower Honopilani Road is a beautiful place to run in the morning

-kitchen is well equipped

-lanai is very private and a nice place for morning coffee as well as for dinner

-the gardens around the condo are very well established so filled with beautiful bird sounds

-geckos!!! :) lots of them in the grass around the pool area

-had no problems with sleeping arrangements boys are 11, 15 & 18 so two beds and loft in the 2nd bedroom worked well for them

-wifi available

-liked the cottage feel to the condo, very homey and laid back

-very quiet complex

-condo was very clean

What we didn't like so much:

-lockbox was hard to figure it out the first time, especially when tired from travelling. Once you figure the trick of it out it is fine though.

-Barbecue area is dark, would be nice to have some kind of light there but that is probably not something in the owners control

- Rates based on 4 guests. Extra guests $10 each to Max 6 people.

- A $200 US deposit is required to make a reservation. Full rental is due 60 days before rental start.
- Check-in is not before 3 PM. Check-out anytime before 11 AM unless late
checkout is arranged.
- Early/Late checkout fee is 1/2 of 1 night room charge.
- $250 refundable damage deposit required. This is refunded within 48 hrs of your departure.

- Rates are all in US dollars
- Payment can be made by credit card or PayPal.
- Full rental is due 60 days before rental start.

- Until confirmed, rates are subject to change without notice.
- Refunds are at sole the discretion of the Owner, and no refunds will be made due to inclement weather or road conditions.
- Guests will maintain this property in good condition as received and agree to replace or pay for any loss, breakage or damage to the satisfaction of the owner or agents.
- No occupants will smoke within the premises.
- Owner of the premises will not be liable for any damages or injury to Guests or other occupants and their property from whatever cause arising from the occupancy of the premises.
- Guest agree to vacate premises by the check-out time on the check-out date. Before vacating, the guests will:
1) Collect all garbage and place in outside containers
2) Place all used dishes and kitchen items in the dishwasher and start a wash cycle
3) Remove all perishables and food items from the refrigerator
4) Turn off all lights and appliances
5) Close and lock the premises

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
