About Jay Holtzman

We bought this condo as a plan for retirement to allow us a haven from harsh New England winters and it has been a total joy. Every moment spent soaking up the spectacular view and delightful climate in our own private little paradise is wonderful. Living in the warm friendly, endlessly interesting village of Grand Case, with access to phenomenal restaurants and delightful people is incomparable.

Why Jay Holtzman chose World

Grand Case is a small genuine working fishing village that has a gorgeous beach, water and views, as well as fantastic restaurants. It's easy to walk anywhere in the village from our apartment which is in a quiet location. Local people are warm and friendly, and there is always something to do if you want to, but quiet and privacy are equally available.

What makes this condo unique

This very comfortable roomy apartment with fabulous views provides easy immediate access to beach and water. Delightful to walk the beach in the early morning on the way to get just baked croissants and meet and greet locals at work, or in the evenings to watch a glorious sunset from a charming beach bar. Walk to a myriad of restaurants in the 'Gourmet Capital of the Caribbean' and then walk home barefoot on the beach after dinner. Play in the sun and/or read on the shaded terrace as sailboats and fishing boats ply the turquoise and sapphire Caribbean waters. Being on the top (3rd) floor allows for quiet and security as well as total privacy.

It has been a delight to redo this apartment over the years, updating the facilities, redecorating to showcase local art and ambiance as well international touches that complement the Caribbean decor.

We stay here every year because the location is perfect, the apartment is wonderful and the hosts are beautiful people. If you want privacy and aren't into the resort amenities, this is the perfect place.

This was my 4th stay in the past 2 years, and I am returning again in January 2018. Can't say enough great things about this property and the owner. Fabulous location right on the beach with a fantastic view of the beach with Anguilla visible over the water in the distance. Terrific sunsets! A short distance to many great restaurants. Jay, along with his local property manager Anna are extremely helpful and responsive to any problem or concern. I'd recommend this property to anyone who can climb steps to the third floor where the view makes the exercise extremely rewarding.

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying in this apartment for a week with our 5 years old son. We found the property exactly as we expected: nice and clean place, wonderful view of the sea, well equipped kitchen. Building location is also really good - never direct sun through the window.

I loved that sliding window. We almost did not close it listening waves and birds.

Jay is the best host, very thoughtful and caring. He provided us with lots of information, which we appreciate so very much. That helped us a lot. We rented a car and had some day trips around the island. We did not explore many beaches because of having a small child. We went to Happy bay, Orient bay and small beach next to Beach Club hotel. Apparently they all are great, but we liked Grand Case beach the most.

Restaurants are amazing and food was delicious.

I would definitely recommend this place for families with small kids.

Perfect for a couple or small family

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this beautiful, well-equipped, clean condo in Grand Case. It is right on the beach and offers a perfect view of Antigua. We are a couple who travelled with our 18-month old daughter. The second bedroom was a must so we could put our daughter down for naps and still enjoy the rest of the space. Jay and his property manager, Ana, provided a cot/crib for our daughter, which was really appreciated. The price for this 2-bedroom beachfront condo is unbeatable. Grand Case beach is perfect for young children, with lots of soft sand and a shallow entry into the water. Grand Case itself is a great staging ground for a trip to St. Martin, with all the amenities you might need as noted by other reviewers. We rented a car and did day trips to Phillipsburg, Marigot, Lotterie Farm spa (a must!), Orient Bay and Mullet Bay (the latter two beaches are overrated, in my opinion). The condo had everything we needed but would benefit from a few nice lounge chairs for the beach (the only ones available were floppy folding chairs).

Jay was a very attentive, friendly and communicative host, promptly answering every email sent from home and from our destination. He also made himself available by phone, though we never needed to call. Once we made our reservation, Jay forwarded a detailed document containing everything we needed to know about the condo, detailing and reviewing every beach and local restaurant and providing excellent travel tips - this was definitely worth more than a Lonely Planet guide! Our favourite restaurants in town were the local-style Creole places, especially Enod's (ask around because the name isn't on the sign). Dining on St. Martin is VERY expensive for the quality.

On Jay's recommendation, we rented a car off-site from a local company (the name escapes me now). We were very pleased with the service and had no issues. According to many reviews on Trip Advisor, St. Martin rental companies (including the large international ones) have a reputation for scamming tourists. Parking was VERY tight at the condo (by North American standards), but it was manageable and very convenient to have a spot right out front and off the road. I would note that the directions to the condo could be better detailed. We passed by the condo twice before finding it in broad daylight. Providing the neighbouring hotel as a landmark would help tremendously!

I would recommend this condo to anyone travelling as a couple or with kids.

Exceptional view, perfect host.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have been to St. Maarten many times but we've always stayed on the Dutch side. For this trip my wife wasn't coming so I decided to try the French side. This condo proved to be the perfect spot for a great vacation.

To begin with, Jay is the perfect owner/host. He has great communication and, in addition, provides a wealth of information about the condo, the local restaurants and shops, places of interest, the entire island. Following Jay's suggestion, I ate at several restaurants I'd never been to and they were exceptional. Make sure to try Le Cottage and Bacchus...tell them Jay sent you and you'll get phenominal treatment.

The view from the condo is unsurpassed. You're looking out the glass door across the Caribbean to Anguilla. The condo itself felt safe and quiet. You can go out the back and walk down the beach to a variety of restaurants. The back bedroom is a little tight and and has a pullout sofa but since I was alone, I used it to store my luggage. That bedroom does get a little street noise but it's not bad. The front bedroom gets the sound of the surf lapping on the beach.

The condo isn't huge but plenty big for 2-4 people. The kitchen has everything you need. If you have any challenges you can call Anna, the property manager and she's minutes away. I had zero problems during my stay.

My thanks to Jay for a wonderful time. I hope to return soon.
