'LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!' Chatterbox Too is right in the heart of Duck, walk to a different restaurant each night, loads of shopping within walking distance. The walk to our neighborhood's private beach access is short and easy, 366 yards straight down our quiet street. No intersections to cross. Walk the other direction about the same distance and you'll be at Duck Rd and the entrance to the Duck Boardwalk on the Sound.

WELL EQUIPPED KITCHEN! Our kitchen equipment is all top of the line, and most guests tell us it's better than their kitchens at home, and our knives are sharp. You will not have to shop for most condiments, herbs, or spices because they are supplied. There's a big herb garden and also tomatoes and peppers in season (July-Sept)just for our guests to enjoy.

About Frank and Linda Baldwin

We are Frank and Linda Baldwin. We live in Powhatan, VA, about 4 hrs from Duck. We visit Chatterbox Too every opportunity we get. We have a daughter, son-in-law, and the two most handsome and smartest grandsons in the world. Frank is an investment adviser in Richmond, and I stay at home thinking up more things to add to or improve Chatterbox Too. Our kitty Phoebe does not like to travel, so she stays at home when we travel. We love to enjoy and share great food and wine.

Frank and Linda Baldwin purchased this house in 2007

Why Frank and Linda Baldwin chose Northern Coast & Outer Banks

We chose Duck because it's a quiet and lovely family oriented beach area. I believe that Duck is the only town on the OBX that does not have public access to the beach. Each neighborhood on the ocean side has its own 'private' access. There's just no place to compare with the Outer Banks of NC.

What makes this house unique

Chatterbox Too is just 1100' from our private neighborhood beach access, and the same distance the other direction is Duck Rd with Scarborough Faire Shopping and numerous excellent restaurants, no need to drive. Our street has very little traffic since there is no public access to the beach in our neighborhood. There is usually far more pedestrian traffic than automobile traffic. If you stay during the July 4 week, you can watch the Fourth of July Parade from the decks because it goes right in front of the house.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A long weekend @ Chatterbox Too—what a wonderful beginning to spring. We only had one partially sunny day—no wind—perfect for playing on the beadh. Friday it rained cats and dogs all day. We believe a rainy day at the beach is better than a sunny day at home—and it was. We splashed through puddles as we drove to Nags Head, hit the outlets, and had lunch at Duck BBQ and Delii—GREAT BBQ and yummie brownies.

The hardwood floors are gorgeous and the kitchen is superbly stocked. We always feel as if we are in a home away from home. The new Adirondack chairs made the perfect place to sit and check email. We are due back here in September, and I simply can’t wait! You have made the perfect vacation home.

Thank you,

The P’s, Forest, VA

OUR RETURN TRIP TO CHATTERBOX TOO WAS EVEN BETTER!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely love renting Chatterbox Too and will do it again and again as long as Linda and Frank will have us. These owners really go out of their way to make everything just perfect, and if we ever forget something, they seem to have it! When we arrived in June, there were even brand new beach chairs for our use. We stroll the beach quite a bit on our visits - the beach in front of the neighborhood access is one of the less crowded ones. The area is safe and filled with families; we even feel comfortable letting our now-teenagers walk down to the shops on their own. Every time we leave, we scratch our heads wondering why we didn't book two weeks. Well, this may be the year!

Best beach house we've stayed in

  • 5 of 5

Went to this excellent beach house for a week. I have never stayed in a house that took care of me as much as this one -- kitchen stocked with high-end appliances, all utensils you could possibly need, spices, dishwasher detergent, soap, garbage bags, etc. Didn't have to bring our laundry detergent either or beach chairs, cart or toys (even two boogie boards provided). Beds were comfortable, wonderful sunroom, lots of deck space. The convenience of riding our bikes to get Duck Donuts while walking a block to the beach is just perfect. Sign us up for next year!

Family Renewal

  • 5 of 5

When our kids were young, we made almost yearly trips to Duck starting in 94. As the kids got older, we stopped coming in 2005. Last year our eldest, Emily was married. As a thank you she and her husband Bryan rented Chatterbox Too for my wife and I and our recent college graduate son.

We had a great time. Chatterbox Too was great. The kitchen was so well stocked with utensils, spices, etc. Very convenient to the beach and the village for shopping. It literally had everything.

Hope to return soon

We Wouldn't Want To Stay Anywhere Else

  • 5 of 5

We’ve been coming to the OBX twice a year for over 15 years and we’ve stayed at many different places through different realtors until we stumbled upon the Chatterbox II over five years ago. Since then this is the only home we’ve ever stayed at. It has all of the amenities that you need and more and it is always clean and well-kept and everything is in good working order. It’s in the middle of a short walk to the ocean or the sound side shops and restaurants making its location perfect. The newly remodeled porch makes a great place to sit and have conversation. The swing on the 2nd floor deck makes a great place to sit and read a good book while enjoying the sounds of the ocean not far off. This house is a tribute to the owner’s care. They do a wonderful job at making your stay comfortable and enjoyable. It feels more like a home away from home than a rental unit. We would never consider staying anyplace else.

Owner's Response: JJS, Again, we're so glad you stayed with us again.....just for the record you stayed with us for the first time in 2007, and this is your 10th year! You've stayed with us 20 times!!!! I'll be planting tomatoes and peppers next week (a lot later than usual) so you may not get anything but herbs during your May visit, but if all goes well with guests watering the garden, you should have a good harvest in October. I did plan one big tomato plant a couple weeks ago and hope the deer and rabbits haven't gotten it. Maybe there will be a tomato or two afterall. Thanks for being so loyal and such good friends, Linda

The Best Beach House in Duck!

  • 5 of 5

We keep coming back to Chatterbox Too year after year and for good reason. It has the look and feel of a real home rather than just another rental property. The kitchen has all you need to make gourmet meals. The dining table can seat the whole family and guests. The family room has the latest in technology as well as a basket full of puzzles. All of the bedrooms have lovely bedspreads and pillows that are in good shape. The bathrooms are clean and well taken care of too.

The owners care deeply about their property and ensure their guests have what they need to have a relaxing and fun vacation. It truly is a home away from home!

And the bonus is that Chatterbox Too sits midway between the beach and shopping. Perfect!

Owner's Response: Hi Sarah, This is your 10th year! Time sure has flown. You've always taken loving care of our Chatterbox Too. Speaking of pillows, I just ordered "My Pillows" for the 3 main bedrooms. Hope everybody likes them. Hope to see you either coming or going this year. We especially want to see your college boy before he and our grandson embark on their freshman year. Linda

We had a wonderful stay at Chatterbox Too. Linda is wonderful to deal with and the home was spotless upon arrival. The garden and stocked kitchen is a dream! I didn't want to leave. The home is so close to the beach and great Duck restaurants. You can walk everywhere.
