Clean, well stocked home with an amazing view! Very private and quiet at night. A/C worked great in all the rooms. The host was very responsive and had great tips.
Clean , spacious and everything you need in the kitchen . Location not the same as advertised but easy to find and close to beaches. Need a car to stay here .
This property had everything we needed for a great weekend stay. It was clean and well appointed with comfortable furnishings. The kitchen, the hostess indicated, will have the cabinets replaced, but it was functional and well equipped. We will definitely return in the future.
Clean, spacious and beautiful property. We had everything we needed. Host was very attentive. And the views are incredible. Looking forward to revisiting.

The view is definitely amazing! I'll admit that I thought people were exaggerating about the driveway but they weren't it's the steepest I have ever driven up. The air conditioning didn't work in the loft so the person that was going to sleep there just slept on the couch. My Dad went around and cleaned all the filters on each air-conditioning unit which looked like they had never been cleaned before so they work much better now and are much quieter lol. The cabinets in the kitchen are rough and at times the power seems like it isn't strong enough because the lights would be very dim. Overall if you don't need the loft it was nice and once the filters were cleaned the air worked great and the beds were reasonably comfortable and we had no problems with the hot water. The big fridge does not work but you can use the freezer section for bottled water but the small fridge did work and it is big enough to suffice. The washer and dryer work but they are outside underneath the deck. The owner was nice and had her maintenance guy pick us up from the ferry even though we got in late like 9 pm. They do have coolers there you can use at the beach which is definitely a plus.

Dear April,
We are so glad you enjoyed your time in Culebra and appreciate the review. I wish you would have let me know of the issue with the ac unit in the loft, it would have been as simple as changing the remote batteries - the unit does work.
In fairness and to provide an accurate picture of our property, the driveway is steep and we not only warn renters, but explicitly prohibit unsafe vehicles on property such as golf carts. In addition, the last AC maintenance was performed in October 2025.
The refrigerator has been replaced with a smaller (cubic feet wise) unit, which was disclosed; and the focus on what was replaced. It is misleading to other guests.
Finally, I wish you would have acknowledged that we arranged to have our maintenance person pick you up and your whole group when you arrived since you did not have a car rental available and were arriving in the evening. Free of charge. That also would shed some light on our commitment to making our guests’ experience excellent.
Truly wished you would have reached out to me or our maintenance person for your concerns rather than letting us know in a review which neither afford us the opportunity to correct them or enhances your experience.
Thank you for staying with us,
Keila

Keila was responsive and accommodating to any issues we had. Several things could be improved upon to make this an awesome VRBO!PROS:Views were spectacular: starry skies, cool breeze, close to everything yet private, plenty of beach towels, coolers were a plus!NEGS:Pics on VRBO do not match the location/GPS; pics of home need updated on VRBOBedrooms, living area and bathrooms are in decent condition; hot water was in minimal supply for showers and drain in master bath didn't work well. Keila acknowledged the hot water controls are a little difficult to work;Kitchen needs overhauled and frig in kitchen does not work; there is a 2nd small frig but small for families; Keila indicated kitchen overhaul is planned.Amenities: lacked a coffeemaker, beach chairs, & umbrella was broken; coffeemaker was however made available during our stayWasher & dryer location is hazardous and lacked hot water. An outdoor faucet/shower would be handy to rinse sand from feet.
Over all the experience was great, it was not in a busy area, quiet and great for our family. The only cons is that the home was a bit outdated, although cleaned before it needed a thorough cleaning. We were so grateful to use the towels provided and chairs for the beach. We were unable to use the washing machine and dryer because their was linens in it. We had a great stay and made a lot of memories
The view exceeded our expectations. The driveway isn't for the faint of heart due to how steep and difficult to drive up and down, but the view was the payoff.

Thank you for staying at Villa Pugue. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you come back to Culebra soon.
Although the location of the home is not where it is located in the listing (actually across the harbor), the views were glorious and it was a nice halfway point between town and Zoni. The host was extremely responsive and helpful to us prior to and during our stay. We had a great time!
We did not expect to be taken away when we walked up the deck steps of such a breath taking view of the bay. We loved that the owners provided a cooler, beach chairs & towels. We loved the location of the home too, it’s close to Zoni beach and you get to drive along the bay side every time you want to come into town. I would love to stay again
When booking this property book an atv to pick up once off the fary or u will be hiking yourself and your bags up a mountain of a driveway it is very steap. Overall it was a very nice place.to stay
This house is an easy drive to all the beaches and restaurants but also away from town so that you have privacy. There is plenty of room and lots of beds. The washer/dryer are under the house and bring your own soap! I pack laundry strips. The views are great from this house. A jeep/car is needed to get up the steep driveway.
The house is beautiful, perfect for our family. The stairs to the second floor were a little scary for me only because I have a 3yr old. The decor was great and the views were better. I love the island of Culebra is my favorite part about going to Puerto Rico. Communication with the owner was great too. I would definitely rent this property again.

Beautiful private location
We were so pleased with the gorgeous, hill-top view of the harbor and spacious, comfortable villa, but most of all, Keila's kindness and helpfulness. We experienced a family emergency during our stay and she went above and beyond to assist us in any way she could. We are so grateful.
From reading others' reviews prior to our stay, we knew about the beaded doorways, and found them fun and a great way to let the breeze blow through the villa. The children loved going up the steep driveway in the jeep each day--it just added to the world away feeling you have on Culebra.
Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Book else where
My family was looking forward to a relaxing time and ended up cleaning flooded floors. My toddler and mother fell and we had to leave to find a safer place. The place had multiple leaks and that seemed have not been addressed in a while. There was also no hot water in the place.

Dear Gina,
As I explained to you the day after you checked in, I had spend the prior week in “Culebra and there has been no leaks. However, given it torrential rains. We did have three spots where we found water intrusion. In order to accommodate this condition, I flew in the following day to identify and assess the situation. It should be clear to all future guests that we take the safety of our Guest very seriously and immediately offered you a no penalty cancellation. In addition, the water heater was working – I tested myself before leaving on the day I met with you . It is a heater for consumption efficiency, and the degree of hot water is directly related to the water flow.
I am glad that you on your family found acceptable accommodations and once again we apologize for the events which we had no prior knowledge.
I am glad to report that , the roof has been sealed and our gas continue to enjoy a very comfortable stay at Villa Pugue.

: Amazing views, big deck, plenty of beds for a group of 7, air conditioning, two coolers, location, communication. Recommendations : Please, add beach chairs. The two there are old and too low for adults. Add shade/umbrellas for the deck area so that guests can enjoy the expectacular views outside during the day. Fix fridge situation (the main refrigerator just cools in the lower drawer, doesn't freeze. There's another tiny fridge in the LR, but the freezer is small). Lastly, consider basic kitchen updates (very dingy ( dirty, crooked, peeling cabinets, doors that don't close, loose handles, cracked old formica counter, etc.), and, most importantly, update the pics of it on Vbo (the pics of kitchen in the pictures is an old photo, not at all as it looks now!). The owner says she'll updating the kitchen soon but, for the pricepoint, I was a bit dissapointed about this, but not a deal breaker for me and my family. Besides these few details, this place is amazing!

Very clean but the weeds were
High. One air conditioner did not work the cabinets were not in good condition and the stairs to the loft area do not have handrail and are a real danger The beds comfortable as well as the refrigerators and furniture. The wood terrace is gorgeous. The entrance to the property is and adventure due to the inclination of the road. The owner request to dispose the garbage in private dumpsters that do not belong to her, which I consider improper. Will recommend the property but not for senior persons.
Overall we had a good experience staying at this house. A FWD car is highly recommended for this location. The owner is very responsive and helpful.
If you have allergies to wasps bites, please ensure to address it in advance of booking as we had an unfortunate encounter and got attacked by the wasps when we were checking in. What likely happened is that we inadvertently disturbed a wasp nest on the front staircase that is a little wobbly and is not used often. We didn’t see the side stairs and were not told not to use the front staircase. To be fair, wasps are abundant on the island and wasp nests were present at another property we stayed on Culebra. The owner was very responsive and prompt in addressing the issue once we reported it.
Cold Showers, Unlocked Door on Arrival, and Unprofessional Host
While the home was generally clean and well-located, our stay was disappointing due to several issues. The front door was unlocked when we arrived, and cleaning supplies and trash were left on the deck. There was no hot water during our two-night stay, despite being told it was fixed. The host dismissed it as “user error”—something echoed in reviews going back to 2022. If that many guests struggle, it suggests a flawed system, not incompetent users.Even more frustrating, the host suggested we overlook the hot water issue, as we had enjoyed a house with “power, comfortable bedding, beds, and linens, air conditioning...”—basic amenities we reasonably expected when paying for a property advertising as much. This dismissive and condescending tone overshadowed any comfort the home might have offered. Respectful communication and accountability would have made all the difference.

To start, it was disappointing that there is no help getting from the ferry to either a car rental or the property. When we arrived at the property around 1030PM and found the lock box to open, it appeared that someone had smashed it and we could not open it. I did call Keila and she had the property manager there fairly quickly who was able to pry it open to get the key. The front door would not stay closed as the latch did not work. Which was a worry with kids in the house. There were ants and roaches everywhere. There was NO hot water to bath or wash dishes, even with repeated attempts from the property manager to fix the problem. The washer/dryer were UNDER the deck. There was an abandoned vehicle parked in our way to access the steps for the property. There was trash and old discarded a/c units all around the house so although it was a beautiful view from the deck when you looked down all you saw was trash and debris. Neither of the refrigerators worked so we had to get ice to put in the freezer to keep the things cold that we wanted cold. We were looking forward to cooking at the house and eating looking at the view. But that couldn't happen. I would NOT recommend this property to anyone unless there were some MAJOR improvements and cleaned up! Wish I had realized I could post picture for the review because I would have to show the condition of the debris and trash.

Gorgeous view, great house, needs some work
The view can't be beat. It is stunning. The house is mostly very, very nice. Keila is quick to respond to text and email. Some provisions were great,, like many Beach and bath towels were provided.. However, a number of things need attending. I write this list with the hope that they will all be taken care of, and then it would be a super fabulous rental. Here is the list:
fix hot water faucet in master bathroom, provide sheets that fit deep pocket mattress so they don't slip off every night, keep brush cleared from driveway, fix broken handles, cabinets, clean cabinets better, clean up area where washing machine is, fix broken "sleep" function on AC in master so that light goes off (too bright), provide clean scrubby, replace beach chairs with better straps and in better condition, mark cabinet with plates if you're going to put tape on it to hold it shut, fix deck and stairs, fix flopping rubber under cabinets, have info book with house (eg when is trash picked up so we know when we can leave trash out, as it was full) and local info, clean up loose trash around house, fix lock on door to deck, have beach umbrella or shade tarp available, bucket or hose outside for sandy feet, need metal spatula, clean paint speckles off dishes, knives sharpened, metal scrubby for pots, clean mold inside cooler, fix broken windows (didn't really bother us but would be goodbtobhave them working, repaint stains on walls, ceilings

I truly regret that despite the many conversations with the guests, before and during their stay, they wrote a review that does not accurately reflect the property.
Many issues, such as the hot water, are the guest's improperly adjusting the right mix of hot and cold in the shower. Others, such as the broken kitchen handle was a singular (1) handle out of 20 - and it has been replaced. It does not affect the guest's ability to open and close a drawer.
The guest also mentioned the temperature display in the AC unit. That is a manufacturer's design of the unit, but a quick google search would have identified how to turn it off using the unit's remote.
The house is kept in good order, with regular maintenance.
The master bedroom did suffer from discoloration on the ceiling paint due to heavy rains, but that, as well as other minor issues have been addressed.
While we provide beach chairs, cooler and beach towels for guests to use, we also provided Diana and Michael the number for a concierge service to secure additional equipment they felt they needed for the beach, including umbrellas, AND we also gave them the number and location for beach and chair rental at Flamenco Beach. What we provided was in working order, but if they wanted something else - something that gets rented out by the hour - we also facilitated the information.
Finally, our grounds are on a service contract for yard maintenance, and although we did not believe it was an issue, we accommodated the guest concerns about some thorn bushes by asking the landscapers to stop by and trim the ones going up the driveway. This was done within hours of their concern that if the branches touch the car, it could get scratched. This too was resolved for them.
Unfortunately, some reviews are not objective, and ultimately depict minor issues to be expected in a worse light than they truly are.
This place was breathtaking. What a view really a special hidden gem tucked away in the beautiful hills of Culebra. It's a very roomie house with all you need to enjoy a relaxing island life stay. The host was so helpful and concerns they went above and beyond really one of the best experiences we've had. We really hope to visit again very soon.
Nuestra experiencia fue excelente, todo muy limpio, la cocina muy completa, la comunicación con el dueño de la propiedad fue excelente. Y lo mejor de todo es la maravillosa vista desde la terraza a la bahía, pasamos unos días maravillosos.
Private, Secluded and Peaceful Setting. Up on the hill, facing amazing ocean views. Available boat dock space in nearby marina subject to additional charge.
