About Karen Laib

We have been coming to Hot Springs Village for over 20 years as we enjoy an active sporting lifestyle yet love the peace and quiet the village has to offer. We recently retired and moved our permanent residence from Rogers, Arkansas to a beautiful new home on Granada golf course. Our goal is to rent our lake house to people having interest in someday becoming permanent residents of the village, or to those who want to enjoy every outdoor activity the village has to offer. Art originally from San Francisco, and I am from Chicago, and if someone were to say we would be permanently living in Arkansas, we would have said they were nuts! In this day and time, there aren't many places with the amenities and affordability offered by Hot Springs Village. Give us a call, we would love to share Hot Springs Village with you and your guests.

Karen Laib purchased this house in 2006

Why Karen Laib chose Arkansas

Compared to other resorts and vacation areas, Hot Springs Village offers “Twice as much, at half the price!” There is plenty of things to keep you busy any time of the year.

What makes this house unique

We love the peacefulness and serenity that our lake house has to offer. Whether being out on the lake, playing golf on one of our championship courses, or experiencing thoroughbred racing at Oaklawn, you can't beat this property.

Two Families - Too Much Fun

  • 5 of 5

We selected this beautiful lakefront property because it seemed to offer both peaceful seclusion and plenty of opportunity for fun. We were NOT disappointed. As 2 families with 3 teenage girls we actually found this home to offer plenty of privacy and abundant common space. Lots of comfortable seating for meals and plenty of relaxing seating in the living room. Its all very well laid out. The kitchen is exceptionally well stocked and there is a nice big refrigerator to hold plenty of food and cold drinks. We fished. We kayaked. We grilled out on the deck. We water skiied and tubed on a pristine lake we had almost entirely to ourselves in the middle of summer. The guys golfed on some really nice courses (again uncrowded) and the girls enjoyed a spa day (or two!). There were also some nice extra touches. Karen met us at the house and walked us through everything. She and Art are wonderful hosts. This is a vacation rental with many amenities at a good value price.

We decided to go to Hot Springs, since it is ½ way from St. Louis and Texas. So our friends drove up from Texas. The house was perfect for two families with kids. There is a master bedroom on one side of the house and then two bedrooms on the other side. So there was space! We loved the big table where the kids did puzzles and we had some great meals! The home was very clean and Karen had everything you needed, which for working MOMs is awesome! Towels, spices, TP, Laundry detergent it was all there. Just less for us to worry about. The location is really nice, the lake provided great viewing relaxation. We were able to get into town to do the baths as well as some hiking.

I highly recommend the home for a vacation it was really nice and relaxing! Thank you so much!

Nice home, even in the winter

  • 5 of 5

We had a memorable time in this lovely home, even with the unexpected snow that fell at Christmas. Our outside activities became limited, but because the house was so inviting, we were happy to stay in and watch movies and play games. The benefit of this house is those who don’t want to watch sports on tv can go in the Arkansas room and read and still feel part of the group.

An enjoyable experience in Hot Springs Village

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I with our grown children, a spouse and boyfriend all in their 20's were all very pleased with our stay at this property. We particularly enjoyed the complementary container of spring water that was in the refrigerator and actually consumed it all. We found the beds to be very comfortable as well as the sofas in the den. Everything was clean when we arrived, and I found adequate dishes and pots and pans in the kitchen. We also appreciated having access to the washer and dryer.

The boys enjoyed watching the olympics on the big screen television, and we made use of the dvd player with a movie we had brought. There was a good supply of movies provided but my group preferred playing games over watching movies. The large dining table allowed plenty of room to eat our meals and play games.

My husband and I made use of the "Arkansas Room", a room with comfortable chairs and sofa with a wall of windows facing the lake. We relaxed, read, and took a couple of naps. We also enjoyed having morning coffee and breakfast one morning on the nice sized deck which also overlooked the lake. There is also a nice dock from which my husband and son fished but the weather was very hot and water level low. My daughter really wanted to try out the kayaks, but we just never got around to it.

Friday morning we went to Hot Springs and walked around a little while and then rented a party barge on Lake Ouachita for the afternoon. Everyone agreed that it was a fun day. Saturday afternoon we intended to make use of the Village pool, but the main pool was closed without a reduced price being offered as compensation. We drove over to the beach at Lake Balboa and enjoyed a swim there.

I am hopeful that we can make a trip to Hot Springs Village an annual end of summer family vacation and would gladly stay at this location. One of the owners met us when we arrived and was helpful in showing us around. The nearby Walmart allowed us to complete our food shopping and we enjoyed breakfast at the Home Plate restaurant. We would certainly recommend this rental to friends. I would also consider a visit in the fall at some future time. The screened windows in the Arkansas Room would allow entry of cool mountain air.

This home is awsome as well as charming.

  • 5 of 5

Our family has rented many homes in the Village. This home is top notch. The kitchen is completely stocked with anything you need (if you want to cook). Sitting on the deck off the Arkansas Room or just by the water, all the job stress went into the lake!. All your worries will be left behind. This is a must stay home, just like an ice cream cone if you are 5. Karen and Art take very much care of their guests!
