This once popular bar is converted to a unique private home on the beach. The open concept keeps the theme and feel of the bar, with some of the original furnishings, such as the bar facing the kitchen, the original sign, and the large open windows that take advantage of the beautiful location. We’ve added plenty of upgrades and amenities, such as free wi-fi, air-conditioning, a full kitchen with new appliances, a large travertine shower for two, granite counter tops, a separate walk in closet/changing room, access to washer/dryer, a private upper deck for sunbathing, and bali doors that open to allow an unobstructed view of the water. The beach is quiet, and perfect for swimming, snorkeling or scuba diving from the shore.

Nestled in the quiet and peaceful area of Sandy Bay, this secluded home is perfect for a romantic getaway, or up to a family of 4, with a fully fenced in private parking area. The studio style layout includes an eating space, a queen bed, plus two sofas that convert to twin size beds.

The hoat provided pickup by Stan. He was most helpful with island info as well as fixing the air conditioning promply. We also hired Stan for an island tour which was great. The property could use some improvements, new bed as well as sofa beds are unusable unless for a small child. The lights outside to the upper deck also didn't work. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need. Great to have the use of a bbq. Also fun to have the kayak and paddleboard as the beach is muddy and shallow. Great snorkeling out at the reef.

Fantastic Place!

Beautiful inside and out. Sunsets were unbelievable, especially from the top deck. You are steps from the water. Kitchen was very nice, bed was comfortable and the views amazing. Owner Conrad was great and property manager Dwyne was wonderful. What an incredible place on an incredible island. Thank you for the memories!

Lovely stay

Beautiful residential location. Gorgeous sunsets. Enjoyed walking to 314 cafe, Dragonfly & steakhouse for dinner. Rent a car for better accessibility to area. Wonderful to be away from the tourist areas but within 20 minute taxi ride

Nice to be in a neighborhood and not in a tourist trap

We were a short taxi ride away from doing everything we wanted to (we used Sam all week and he really took care of us). The Jolly Octopus was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The private deck was such a pleasure. Dwayne and Conrad were excellent hosts and we will return.

Amazing view!

Me and my Husband had such a great stay at the Jolly Octopus house! The view is literally worth everything. You are literally 5 steps from the beach. I appreciate the new sliding doors that were installed so you can see out to the ocean. Conrad and Dwayne were amazing hosts. I recommend to book with Conrad 100% if you are visiting the island. I know he has other properties as well in Roatan. Thanks again for the amazing stay!

Just like a dream

I had an amazing experience at the Jolly Olly Octopus Restaurant in Roatan, Honduras. The location couldn't be any better as it is right on the waterfront. The access to amenities like kayaks, masks, and snorkels was a great addition, allowing for plenty of fun activities. The spacious shower was a nice touch, and all the appliances were brand new, showcasing the owner's attention to detail and quality. It's evident that the owner doesn't cut corners, making this stay a home run. I will definitely be coming back! - Alex & Lauren , Palm Beach, Florida

Private unique property

This property is located right on the sea. The sunsets are beautiful. Very quiet beach no tourist or vendors, the upper deck is a sunbathers paradise! Extremely clean and the Jolly includes most every household necessity you need. Dwight is an excellent property manager and can always be reached. I highly recommend!

Great decks!

This place has two great deck. My personal fave is the top deck to get a good view. The place was clean, kitchen well stocked with necessities, the bed was quite comfortable, laundry available, excellent shower with two shower heads! We didnt get out into the water due to the heavy rainfall sadly. We did have a minor weather related issue and the property manager/host sorted it out very quickly. Amazing communication.

Quiet Time in Roatan

We enjoyed our stay at Jolly Octopus. It was away from the tourist areas and allowed us to choose when we wanted to get into the busier scene. The cottage was stocked with all our cooking needs which was great for our hangout nights. Plenty of towels, both beach and shower for both of us. We had some issues with bugs when we walked around outside. You will need to purchase bug spray for sure (at least in July when we visited). The owner and manager were very communicative and responsive as advertised!

Amazing Place to stay

We had a great time at the Jolly and will be returning very soon. Jolly is nestled beachfront on the quiet area of sandy bay yet still close enough to the hustle and bustle of West Bay / End if you want to get over that way. If you are looking for a swimming beach this is not it, however if your looking for amazing snorkeling right out the front porch like we were, this is a great spot. The reef and several great spots are within swimming/paddling distance and offer endless opportunity to view the amazing the marine life. This house was perfectly suited for our needs and had a great roof top deck that we spent every evening up on. Being able to open the Bali doors in the morning and have breakfast was a great experience as well. I would not hesitate to return to this property and would recommend anyone looking for a great time to book it as well.

Charming Beach House Great for Couples

Property was very clean. Roof top deck was awesome for viewing sunsets. Not too far from nice beaches and other tourist attractions. I would definitely go again. The houses behind the rental were not in good shape, but the people were all very nice. The beach in front of the house was not for swimming, but the reef about 200 yards out had great snorkeling and there were often dive boats out there. The view from house was great, but to view the beach you had to open the sliding solid wood door which made the house hot so unless you wanted to forgo a cool house you had no view when door was closed. Not having a good view of the beach from the inside unless door was open was very disappointing. .

Nice little beach house

We enjoyed our stay here! The property manager Dwayne was very attentive to any need we had while staying! The owner was great at communicating with us while preparing for our stay! He even arranged a phone call before we flew in to make sure we had all the information we needed for our stay on the island! The beach house was clean and very nice! It was perfect for our little family of 3. The upper deck was an amazing spot to just sit back and relax while listening to the ocean. You can hear the ocean from the bed which was amazing to fall asleep to! The house had everything you need to cook and even has a grill on the back balcony. There was a sweet little orange and white cat that our son fell in love with who would come to see us in the morning and in the evening for so food and belly rubs! We named him Jolly! Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Jolly Octopus!

Excellent Beach front stay for snorkeling

The Jolly Octopus was a sweet and perfect house for our vacation. It was immaculately clean and a short swim or kayak from the house is the mesoamerican reef where we snorkeled daily. The water was beautiful and we saw more varieties of sea life than we have seen in many years of scuba and snorkel. Dwyne is the house manager and he was always just a text away if we had a question. He was super responsive and very nice. We were surprised that the house had fresh drinking water, a washer and dryer, lots of snorkel equipment, two kayaks and a paddleboard. There were also some floaties for snorkeling. Walking the beach was lovely also. The house does sit in a local, residential neighborhood and we always felt safe and secure. The more commercial hotel zones are closer to Westend but we prefer to avoid those areas. There is a new paved road being built into Westend where there is plenty of shopping and restaurants.

Incredible Experience

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Jolly Octopus. The owner communicated with us in advance to answer any questions or concerns. He gave us a contact for transportation from the airport as well as a stop to the local super market. (I advise) The contact was extremely helpful and professional. We took full advantage of what the island offers leaving us completely exhausted after each day. The Jolly Octopus was exactly like the photos. We took full advantage of the rooftop and spent every night watching the sunset which pictures can’t replace the experience. There are water toys for use and it will cool you down if you choose to stay close. JO is tucked away and the locals are friendly and helpful. The neighbors play music, but are respectful at night. There’s a wonderful steakhouse up the way in walking distance. We walked there most nights without disturbance. Bring cash (20’s and 50’s) and use your card when you dine out. There was enough flatware and water is provided at (JO) Many thanks to the owner for the welcoming experience! If you want a close ride to West End, then book this stay!

A unique gem!

Just got back from our trip to Roatan and absolutely fell in love. We stayed in West End for a bit and then moved over to the Jolly Octopus. The two areas are totally different but gave us a chance to experience a bit more of the culture in Sandy Bay. The place is pictured exactly like the description. The owner, Conrad was very attentive with his communication and knowledge. The property manager Dwyane was very personable and helpful as he helped us with transportation and any needs we encountered. We enjoyed the coffee shop near by within walking distance and the SunkenFish and Blue Bahia had some of the most amazing foods. There is quite a bit of sea grass in the area which makes lounging in the water less desirable, but if you can make it out to the reef we saw several dive/snorkel boats stop on the reef in front of the property. Definitely a unique and fun experience, I would probably rent a car next time. We gave the place a 5/5 start because of it's charm, cleanliness and property manager Dwyane.

Good Visit w/Some Minor Issues

We want to share that this was my wife and I's 2nd visit to Roatan with this being our 1st visit to Sandy Bay. The house matched the photos which are on VRBO. The property manager was very helpful once we got to the property although we were a bit delayed, 2 hours, due to the cleaning lady still working. The property manager did make sure we were able to get in on time, it was just that the cleaning lady was still working. In fairness, during our visit, it rained a great deal. Our visit was at the end of the rainy season. The beach had a lot of debris and the area had a lot of puddles on the dirty roads and walking paths in the area. This is not the owner's issue. They did have the beach cleaned in front of our place cleaned the day before we left, which helped, but the rest of the beach still had a lot of debris. The owner was not very helpful leading up to our visit, even though we reached out numerous times to get info on the area. The house itself was clean and had everything that was needed. The ice maker did not work, but the property manager was very responsive and willing to bring ice if we needed it which was very kind. The neighborhood surrounding the house was vacant with some of the properties being in different levels of disrepair taking away from the area somewhat. It is different than West End were my wife & I previously stayed. The neighborhood was quiet & there were not any safety concerns that we encountered. Most of the people were very nice.

Great name and great place

I very much enjoyed my stay on Roatan Island and this property went a long way in making it memorable. For starters, Dewayne, the property manager, was courteous and professional; always responding promptly to the various issues that came up. It was much appreciated when he followed me to the airport in case any issues came up with my rental car (I deemed it a necessary precaution seeing as how I didn't have phone service). A great renovation job and top notch cleanliness made the place as comfortable as could be. And the rooftop sundeck (with ocean view, of course) is a phenomenal tranquil escape. One thing about the location is that it's about 5 miles from the main tourist drag, where, from what I could tell, many of the restaurants and dive shops are located. Now if you plan on doing a substantial amount of driving on Roatan and you have that Western sensibility of always being on well-paved roads, you're in for a bit of an adjustment phase. The main island road is under construction in a few stretches and in others you really have to proceed cautiously. Now while the property is on a tranquil, beachfront lot, the access road at the rear is not so much of a road as it is a very bumpy passage way. If you're into off-roading you'll be in your element. But who knows, once you get used to this condition, you may find it lends to the place a certain charm. Seeing as how this place used to be a bar I can only hope intoxicated patrons chose to sleep on the beach.

Loved our stay at the Jolly Octopus

We loved our stay here. The owner, Conrad facilitated our pick up from the airport and we were taken to the market to purchase groceries and anything we may have wanted to cook or eat while staying there. Upon arrival we met with the property manager Dywne, who was very welcoming and was very accommodating and available throughout the whole time we were there if we needed anything. The house is very clean and spacious and even has a canoe and paddle board available for you to use while you are staying there. The Jolly Octopus is located in a more remote area of Sandy Bay and at first I was a little hesitant but actually ended up loving it since it was away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas and yet was close enough to get to West End where all the restaurants and bars are located. I will suggest renting a car as soon as you arrive at the airport because if you are like us and enjoy exploring the island and being able to come and go as you please then you definitely need a means of transportation. Accessing a taxi is not very easy from here we are located. The roads are currently under construction so just be careful with pot holes but it seems to be coming along quickly so I am sure once they are completed it will be much easier to commute. The view at the Jolly Octopus is amazing. We loved sitting on the porch and just looking out towards the ocean and it also has a beautiful upstairs deck area with a phenomenal view. to watch the beautiful sunsets. The mornings were heavenly to be able to open the sliding wood doors and have breakfast on the porch area. Bring mosquito repellent because there are lots of mosquitos and the porch is not screened in but it was bearable. I highly recommend staying here and we plan on returning. This has been one of our top two trips and places to stay thus far.. Thank you to Conrad and Dwyne for making our stay wonderful.
