Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 12)
Our cozy, yet spacious chalet is located where Mi-Wuk Village meets the Stanislaus National Forest. The chalet is on over half an acre and has three levels with more than 1600 square feet. Mi-Wuk Village is above the snow line, yet only 150 miles from the Bay Area.
The main floor opens into a cathedral ceilinged room that includes the living room, dining room and kitchen. Two sliding glass doors lead out to a large deck with a beautiful view of the forest and the sounds of a stream. This floor has two bedrooms and a full bath. Upstairs is a large loft bedroom with a half bath. Downstairs is a large family room with two futon couches, another full bath and laundry.
The Stanislaus National Forest is Hearthstone’s backyard. Discover great hiking at various difficulty levels or just hang out on the deck and enjoy the view and sounds. The cabin has games, puzzles, and a hammock. Pinecrest Lake, which is 15 minutes away, offers swimming, boat rentals (kayaks, paddle-boats, canoes, sailboats, and motorboats), and great fishing.
The small town of Mi-Wuk Village is one mile away and Twain Harte has great shopping just three and a half miles down the mountain. Enjoy wildflowers in the spring. And in the winter, Dodge Ridge Ski Resort is only 15 miles away. Cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and sledding are nearby.
The cabin easily sleeps 12 people. Each bedroom on the main floor has a queen-size bed. The loft bedroom has a queen-size bed and two twin beds. The two full-size futon couches in the family room make into comfortable beds. Each bed has a warm, down comforter and soft pillows. There are plenty of extra blankets. While we do have linens for your use, we recommend you bring your own sheets and towels so you don’t have to do laundry before you leave.
The well-equipped kitchen is stocked with basic spices, oils, and condiments and has place settings for 12. We have sleds in the winter and iner tubes for the summer. A washer and dryer are in the family room. There is a DVD hooked up to a TV (no cable or sattelite). You can bring movies or rent them at the Twain Harte Market Red Box.

About Rinda Bartley
Two families own this lovely retreat in the mountains. We go up as often as we can, though not nearly as much as we would like. We all live in Berkeley, CA. One family has two young adults. The other has two elementary school students. They keep us busy.
Rinda Bartley purchased this Cabin in 2004
Why Rinda Bartley chose Sierra Village
We all love the beauty of the Sierra mountains. We chose to be at the snow line so we would have a lot of Sugar Pines and Cedars, but not too far up the mountain so it would be closer to home. We like that it is only 140 miles from the Bay Area. The cul de sac makes it a calm setting.
What makes this Cabin unique
The two sets of large sliding glass doors that lead to a deck with a view only of trees makes the cabin feel so secluded. We love the three levels and the three bathrooms. It means that you can bring up a whole bunch of people and not feel crowded. The location makes it easy to get to stores in Twain Harte or Sonora, and equally easy to get to the Higher Sierras and Pinecrest Lake.

Fabulous sledding weekend
It was spacious and comfortable. The entire family had fun. The lack of reliable WiFi helped us relax and disconnect.
Clean and comfortable
It was a lovely place to spend a few days writing. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked and the view from the deck was beautiful.
The property was good, but a lack of snow was unfortunate. Also the lack of tv, cable, WiFi
It was nice, House was nice. Weather was not what we hoped so we were left without much to do. The tv is a bit lacking with no antenna. Or cable or WiFi, or any connection
The low snow levels have been unfortunate this year, but we went up last weekend and enjoyed ice skating in Long Barn and great sledding up highway 108 a bit, and great hiking, as always.
Also, we are working on getting WIFI/Cable to Hearthstone. For a long time it wasn't available in MiWuk, but now it is so we're on it. Stay tuned!
Cabin was nice but overall experience was not convenient
1. Mattresses were very uncomfortable so couldn't sleep.
2. Dryer took almost 2 hrs so wasted much of the time in washing.
3. Drain of the downstairs bathroom was not working properly.
Thank you for your feedback. The drain in the lower level bathroom has been repaired. We are looking at the 2 futons in the lower level which I believe you said were the uncomfortable ones, for replacement. All of the other mattresses were new summer of 2017. And the dryer works well if it is not over-filled. I hope you will give us a try again in the future!
Just as we hoped it would be, plenty of room and very homey!
Enjoyed the spaciousness of the cabin (though anyone in the loft or basement will hear any noise as there are not doors/bring earplugs). The deck is HUGE. It is nice to have separate areas if you have a large group. The cabin is very inviting and homey. It has everything you need. The beds in the loft and bedrooms are very comfy, as are the down comforters. The location was close to everything. There are many pillows and sheets in the master bedroom closet. Communication with Rina was EXCELLENT! They are completely available, informative, detailed, flexible and welcoming. We were very happy staying at this cabin for Christmas and my husband's 50th--good memories! We felt right at home
Thank you Deborah. We hope to see you again!
The location was further away than we wanted so we didn't really spend very much time at the cabin, did a lot of driving and long days away. There was just the right amount of room for our family. It was very warm on the 2 floors, a little chilly in the basement. Beds were comfortable, pillows not so much. We enjoyed the time that we were there. Thank you!
Thank you for the review!
