About dilys staaterman

This property , located on 10 acres, has been in our family since 1940. I have spent every summer of my life here, and since retiring 9 years ago my husband and I have devoted our time and energy into developing an organic vegetable farm and now sell to many restaurants, stores, and at our farmstand.

Why dilys staaterman chose Cape Cod

We offer serenity and privacy as well as proximity to a beautiful beaches and many bike and walking trails. We also are only 9 miles from Provincetown where there are many fine restaurants, activities, art galleries and theater.

What makes this cottage unique

I have been taking care of and renting the main house on the property since I was 18. The cottage was totally renovated in 2007 with all the modern amenities. So while we are relatively close, living in the main house, we also understand completely the need for privacy for our renters. We are also a source of information for travelers. We welcome all!

Beautiful relaxing cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been visiting the outer cape for the last 12 years and this is the most charming, unique, and relaxing home we have ever rented. The cottage was perfect for our needs, with a loft which was a great place for our kids to sleep. Our hosts were so gracious and welcoming; we even got a private tour of the organic farm! It was very special to be able to visit the farm stand each morning and stock up on the local produce before heading to the beautiful beach, which was right at the end of the road.

An Ideal Cottage for our Escape to the Cape

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many lovely outer Cape Cod spots, but the Longnook Meadows Farm cottage is our new favorite. Tucked in a lovely 10 acres on a quiet road, the cottage is a haven that allows walking and biking access to a beautiful national seashore beach and woodland neighborhood. Upon arriving, we were greeted by our friendly hosts and slipped inside to discover a charming, beautifully designed, and impeccably maintained cottage. Each day, after a morning ramble to enjoy the gardens and orchards surrounding the cottage, we would ventured forth to explore our favorite spaces (Race Point, Great Island Trails, Wellfleet Bay Audubon, Head of the Meadows ...) and each evening we returned "home" in time to catch the golden sunlight and enjoy the front porch sights and sounds. At dinner time we were torn, should be slip our to our favorite restaurants (the Blackfish, Mac's Seafood Shack, the Wicked Oyster?) or enjoy cooking in the well-appointed kitchen? The fresh tomatoes, basil and garlic provided by our hosts were fabulous along with goat cheese for a pre-dinner appetizer. Another night we roasted them along with chicken for a cozy cottage supper. Our only regret? Having to leave after only 4 nights, next year we are hoping to stay for a week. Still, we returned home wonderfully well-rested and filled with fond memories of biking, walking, and birding -- a perfect October escape to the Cape.

Perfect cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for the two of us. It is in great condition as it is newer, and located about a mile or so from Longnook beach, one of the best beaches on the cape. The owners Dilys and Peter were very accommodating and helpful. I would highly recommend this cottage as it was a very quiet and peaceful place to vacation while being close to Wellfleet and Ptown.

We’ll be back!

  • 5 of 5

What can we write that hasn’t previously been written about the cottage at Longnook Meadows Farm? Perhaps the best thing to report is that as of May 2015, the magic of a stay here continues. It is everything this website shows and more. The setting is wonderful. The cottage is bright and airy with new kitchen appliances, very tasteful appointments and oh, so clean! Best of all, comfortable and relaxing. Trees, shrubs and flowers fill the beautiful yard, making either the front porch or backyard a perfect place for a morning coffee.

Quintessential hosts Peter and Dilys are warm and accommodating—respectful of your privacy, though ready to be found at a moment’s notice should you need them. They are always spot-on with a good recommendation for dinner or some fun Cape activity—Truro or Wellfleet galleries and dining, P-town shopping and restaurants, Truro Vineyards, Cape Cod Light and beautiful Longnook beach. A special connection? The farm supplies local restaurants, Blackfish in Truro, Mac’s Shack in Wellfleet, and others with their organic produce.

You know it’s the perfect place when you are planning a return trip the day you arrive (and we are!). We absolutely recommend Longnook Meadows Farm Cottage for your Cape Cod stay.

Idyllic Longnook Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage, and its beautiful setting, took our breath away when we arrived. The cottage is situated on acres of farmland, with beautiful flowers all around (and fresh vegetables at their farmstand everyday at the bottom of the driveway!) We biked everyday to Longnook beach (about 1.5 miles away), which, with its towering sloping dunes and sandbar that seems to go for miles, is both one of the prettiest beaches in the world and one of the best for wave-catching. There are also many running trails in the neighborhood, including one that looks over the dunes of Longnook! Dilys and Peter, the owners, are extremely friendly and hostpitable; we felt right at home immediately! The cottage was perfect for us: very simple, but with an elegant quality. It feels bright and airy, with cathedral ceilings and lots of windows. The front porch is a relaxing place to read, the living area is spacious and light, and the kitchen has top-of-the-line quality appliances. Our stay was a luxurious escape from the hustle-and-bustle of everyday life: a simple, slower life filled with organic vegetables and cool ocean breezes.

A Dream Come True

  • 5 of 5

I had a magnificent stay at this quaint cottage with a luxurious interior. Upon arrival the house was spottless and welcoming, as were the owners, Dillys and Peter who met us when we came. The cottage was spacious and the rooms, though all within four walls, were well spread out. The kitchen was filled with high quality appliances and had a sleek and modern look. The living area was cozy and surrounded by windows to let the summer breeze in with the dining room to the left, also encased in windows. The master bedroom was the perfect size and the beds were comfortable and high quality. The loft was cozy and gave the feel of a rustic log cabin. The outdoor shower was massive and the porch gave the house a perfect "Cape Cod" ambiance. The owners were more than gracious and attentive, always interested in how the stay was going. The beach that is right down the road, Longnook Beach, is the most beautiful beach in the world. It is surrounded by towering dunes and the water has a significant low tide, complete with a sandbar which is fun to frolic in. The restaurant, The Black Fish, to whom Peter and Dillys sell their organic produce to, was an attraction that should be visited for a nice dinner. The menu was full of tasteful and exotic sea food and had a cozy setting. This place is ideal for runners, you can run through the organic farm filled with beautiful flowers or you could run to the picturesque Longnook beach. This place is truly an ideal dream vacation stay.
