About John Holland
My wife and I are the proud parents of 5 children. We live here in the beautiful upstate of South Carolina. This is the best place to live and vacation near mountains and lakes, hiking, and all the excitement of Clemson University. We would love to share our part of the country with you.
John Holland purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why John Holland chose Cleveland
This property is great for relaxing and getting away without going far. It is easy to get to and you won't want to leave when you do. I bought this property because it is so peaceful. The cabin is also close to many great state parks and other recreation areas
What makes this Cabin unique
Close to all upstate attractions. Great place to sit by the river and just relax

Cabin was wonderful!
Pros: Cabin was comfortable (especially the king size bed!), clean, well-equipped and had wonderful river access. We really enjoyed being outside and sitting by the fire. We fished and caught/released a couple of small trout (?) and had fun watching the minnows try to steal our bait! The hot tub didn't get as hot as we like and was a little difficult getting in and out of, but was a nice plus none-the-less. Early morning coffee on the back porch, wrapped in a blanket, was divine!
Cons: NO internet service in the cabin. A land line is available but w/o long-distance calling unless you have a calling card, which the owner provided. An electrical issues caused some concern but a contact person provided came immediately to assist.
There is almost NOTHING to do commercially/entertainment-wise locally so plan to really be prepared to "get away from it all". Aunt Sue's open on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. You can drive into Traveler's Rest to find a few things: shopping/food/brews.
Places to visit: Aunt Sue's, Victoria Valley Winery (don't recommend walking there though), Symme's Chapel, Caesars' Head State Park.
Recommend finding cabin in daylight hours.
The cabin is a wonderful place to visit. Thank you. We love that it is a place to get away and always love how folks love to hike, see waterfalls and visit the many towns close by as well as the 3 state parks within 10 miles. Not to mention South Carolina's most scenic highway is at the doorstep practically. I am sorry that none of this appealed to the guest. The hot tub had brand new water and that take 24 hours to warm 500 gallons of water. All directions are explained in the check in procedures.
Cute, clean, and cozy cabin on the river!
Cabin is close to lots of fun, adventurous activities. The owner also send links to nearby attractions and that was very helpful, as well. Not much signal at the cabin so phones were limited. Hot tub was an added bonus! We really enjoyed our stay!! Hope to be back!
The cabin was very nice, clean and a great location to enjoy Greenville and other small towns. The mountains are close with a bunch of SC State Parks on US11. The cabin is right on the river which creates a great view from the dining room window. Aunt Sue's restaurant is right down the road and the winery. We enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful cabin and very peaceful
Definitely everything we expected and more we will for sure be back thanks for the great experience
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. Everything was clean and ready for us. The view of the river and the screened in porch were a delight. Kitchen is well appointed and we did a fair amount of cooking. The grill was a great asset and we used it several times. Quiet and peaceful, it felt like "home". Thanks, John, for your help in making our vacation a terrific time.
My two brothers and I take an annual Labor Day getaway and this location was great. My brothers were a little concerned about no Wi-Fi or cell service but they soon got over it as it was a welcome departure from the every day. The cabin was nice, comfortable and had everything we needed. We had the wonderful opportunity to meet a neighbor and really nice people at Victoria Wine Vineyard.... which is within walking distance. We visited some local National Parks as well. This was a very good weekend. Thank you John for sharing your home to us, we are grateful.
This cabin is well suited for seeing all the great attractions of the upstate. Close to Table Rock, Jones Gap, Ceasar's head. It is a short drive to many of the great water falls in Upstate SC.
If you want to peace and quiet, we have that also. you can rest all day on the great decks listening to the river gently roll
