We purchased our units at Water's Edge Resort because for over 25 years it has been our home away from home. When we first starting staying at Water's Edge we had 6 children and were looking for a family oriented resort.
Linda purchased this condo in 2013
My husband, 6 children, and I started vacationing at Waters Edge in 1988--we have never missed a year since. We originally chose the Myrtle Beach area because it was within a days travel from our home in NY. We normally had a two week vacation over the Easter holiday, and on that last day of school we were packed and ready to hit the road the minute school was out. It was always the beginning of a year long anticipated vacation. We soon grew to love the Garden City area! There was always so much to do at the resort --hot tubs, pools, beach volleyball, beach games, and so many other families. The condos were so spacious and well equipped that we always felt comfortable and right at home. We met other families from NY that tended to have the same vacation days as us. Year after year our kids met & played with their "vacation" friends, and their friendships have lasted throughout the years. As the years have flown by, these kids that grew up together, now bring their own children, and still meet once a year for a great vacation! Visiting while sitting in the hot tub & keeping watch over their own children as they play in the sand, or swim in the indoor pool on a rainy day.
Waters Edge Resort is in a perfect spot--beautiful beach and only a 10 minute walk to Garden City Pier. We always felt that it was perfect for a family vacation. You have the choice to either just relax on the beach or next to the pool, or experience a few or many activities available in one of the country's most popular beach vacation destinations. There are hundreds of restaurants to choose from, and you are minutes away from Murrells Inlet---the seafood capital of South Carolina. There you can walk along the marsh walk where you see a variety of restaurants that offer all kinds of dining alternatives-- from fine dining to sushi and pizzas. As you eat your scrumptious meal--you look across the marsh to the Atlantic Ocean. Live entertainment can always be found, as well as fishing boats returning with their deep sea catches. You will see Goat Island and the goats that graze there, and hear tales of Drunken Jack--a pirate put ashore hundreds of years ago with a barrell of rum. You can take a scenic boat tour here, or skip to the other side of Highway 17 and head towards the Wacca Wache Marina. There you can sit on the outside deck of K Rae's Waterway Bar and Grill and enjoy the music and great food. You also have the choice of taking two very different river tours on two very different boats --the Waccamaw Cooter or Waccamaw Lady. The Cooter is an 8 passenger air boat that offers a nature sightseeing tour where you can encounter river birds, alligators, and many other types of wildlife. The Lady is a 45 passenger pontoon boat that cruises past old rice plantations as it ventures into the Intracoastal Waterway. Other nearby attractions include Huntington Beach, Brookgreen Gardens, Pawleys Island, and much much more. Of course, I also need to mention the Water Park, and the many activities on and near the Garden City Pier. The list is never ending!
So much to enjoy - that before you leave, you begin planning your vacation for the next year.
Wonderful fabulous beachfront condo and resort!! I have been coming here for 5+ years and this is by far the best 3 bedroom and 2.5 bath in the building. The updates are too numerous too mention here, but let's just say you will have modern comfortable amenities. Beautifully decorated to welcome you to the beach. The master bedroom right on the water!! The secondary bedrooms are just as nice and comfortable. You will not want to leave, all the comforts of home, right on the ocean! The resort is top notch! The improvements over the past 5 years will keep this at the top of my list year after year. The convenience of the restaurant/snack bar, gift shop/general store and of course the lounge will almost have you not leaving the resort site. Definitely recommend this property and this unit!
stayed in 2 bedroom condo for bike week in oct. 2013. had a wonderful stay. unit very clean and well maintained. master bedroom bed so comfortable. their daughter megan stopped by and then saw us on another day by the pool and stopped to talk to us to make sure all was ok. really enjoyed our visit. only drawback was not linda/vic's fault and that was very disorderly and noisy neighbors for the first part of the week. but after they left all was good. LOL. water's edge roped off area for bike parking and also put an area with hose to wash off bikes. if you have an open trailer plenty of parking but not for enclosed trailer but we found a place without much difficulty. loved the hotel and sitting on the deck, so close to ocean you don't need to go down to the sand unless you want to. Driftwood is our newest favorite restaurant. linda was great to work with. she phone a couple of times to make sure we didn't need anything. will gladly stay here again
I would like to Thank Linda and Vic for all their hospitality from the very start. We arrived to a wonderful clean and spacious unit. Linda was in town and made it very easy to check in and get settled in. If there was a problem, it was fixed immediately. The location was spectacular and was literally ocean front. The kitchen has everything we needed to cook entire meals and the ice maker was a plus for myself. The washer and dryer made it easy to keep all the laundry done so that way there wan not much to take home dirty. Linda and Vic also have their balconies screened in, which left no worries with two toddlers on the eighth floor. That is a very nice addition. The resort is making several upgrades and we can not wait to return. I will use this condo each time I return to the beach from now on.
We could not have asked for a CLEANER place! We were all very impressed. Linda and Vic were absolutely wonderful to deal with as far as planning and getting things together before our trip; so very friendly and extremely helpful! We stayed in the 3-bedrom condo and there was more than enough room for us (5 adults and 2 children). The condo was very close to activities and restaurants, so this was convenient, especially with kids along. We would definitely recommend renting from Linda and Vic to anyone and we certainly plan to go back in the future!
My family and I have been vacationing at Watersedge Resort for over 25 years. We've stayed in many units and have dealt with many owners. Our overall experience this year was one of the best that we have ever had. The owners of this condo, Linda and Vic were two of the nicest people you'll ever meet and very pleasant to deal with. The condo was absolutely beautiful and very clean. They provided all the linens and towels and the kitchen had everything we could ever need. We had children with us so we were very happy to see they had left a whole tote of beach toys so we didn't have to go out and buy some like we do every other year. Watersedge itself has done a lot of work to the building and grounds since we were there last year. It looks beautiful and we already looking forward to next year.
After doing the same old thing in Orlando for several years, we decided to try my childhood vacation area of Garden City, SC. I have used VRBO for our last 3 vacations and have not been disappointed. This time was no exception. Dealing with Denise was like talking to an old friend. I had initial reservations in booking due to the fact that she did not require a contract or security deposit. These reservations were not needed. Our family of five had a wonderfully comfortable stay at WatersEdge. While the building itself seems a bit dated, the condo itself was not. Denise has done a supurb job of decorating and assuring that (outside of towels) all of your vacation rental needs were met. Our 3 children ages 12, 11 and 9 were more than pleased with the condo, building and all amenities. The rental itself was a great value for the area! (Myrtle Beach has become quite expensive for rentals which is why we have opted for Orlando in the past.) Should we decide on Garden City for next year, this will be our rental of choice!!!
We are only a short walk from the Garden City Pier. The pier offers the perfect place for kids or teens to spend time when you don't want them going too far--video games, go karts, & much more. For the adults there's karaoke, fine dining, or one of Sam's famous foot long hot dogs. There are multiple grocery stores, a Walmart, pharmacies, and any other type of store you may need. Myrtle Beach is just a short 9 miles away. Vacationing in Garden City allows you to not only spend time at a family oriented beach , but also enables you to visit nearby Mrytle Beach without staying amidst all the hustle and bustle. The 'Seafood Capital of South Carolina,' historical Murrells Inlet, is only 3 miles away. It features many restaurants along the beautiful marsh walk. Here you can see abundant wildlife, deep sea fishing boats returning with their catches, and much more while enjoying live music and happy hour at one of the inlets many restaurants. Drunken Jacks, Dead Dogs, and the Wicked Tuna are just a few of our favorites. In Garden City Beach you will enjoy the Gulfstream Cafe--voted number 1 for its beautiful sunsets. Here you will enjoy fine dining for $11.95 during its early bird specials--including fillet mignon and delicious seafood platters. Marinas are nearby, including Wacca Wache where you can hop aboard the tour boat, Waccamaw Lady. On this narrated tour, the narrator will share the history, legends, and mysteries of the many Rice Plantations that once stood along the river. If you are more adventurous, see river birds, alligators, and other wildlife on the Waccamaw Cooter--an 8 passenger Air Boat.
