Pineplace Lights is a uniquely designed elegant architectural lighthouse designed by architect Mark Ruhle. It was his vision that each space be unique. Therefore you will find each room a comfortable delight eliciting different senses and feelings.
Pineplace Lights is nestled in the deep pine woods of Orrs Island Maine overlooking historic Lowell's Cove. Come experience the essence of Maine which inspired artists such as Andrew Wyeth and Windslow Homer as well as the children's book 'The Whale in Lowell's Cove.' Walk to the nearby beach to lounge in the sun and to enjoy the salty air. Afterwards enjoy a fun evening of dining and relaxing at various local restaurants or just stay in and cook your own meal in our carefully equipped kitchen. At night you will sleep deeply and soundly in our comfortable beds, the sounds of the cove a lullaby.
You can share many happy hours with your family and friends while sitting on our wide deck which catches the sun of the day and the breeze off Lowell's Cove. Almost every room in the house has a spectacular Cove view. There are 6 bedrooms and seven decks. There is a large backyard which includes an acre of Pine Forest. There is a small secluded studio in the woods. Kids can use it for a hang out. Adults can paint, write, read or just meditate.
Choose to spend your vacation at Pineplace Lights and you will never regret a moment. It is an experience which will give you memories that will last a lifetime.

Our family came to Orrs Island for the first time in 1980 to visit friends. We fell in love and have returned over and over again. Eventually we needed our own space. Mark Rhule architect helped up design a house that would support family and personal development retreats.
What I love most about Orrs Island is the deep rest and rejuvenation I experience when I am here.
My extended family stayed here for vacation in summer 2016. The home is in great condition, is tastefully decorated, and is fully stocked with kitchen utensils, cookware, and small appliances that you'll need for the week. There is a charcoal grill for use, a dishwasher and washer/dryer! There is a ramp to get into the house and one of the bedrooms and full bathrooms are on the first floor so it is accessible and met our needs. You do need to drive to almost everywhere, but the property is located on a quiet, residential street great for walks. There is a grocery store and a Walmart (about 15 minutes drive) in Brunswick if needed. We had a wonderful and relaxing vacation and the property manager was available via text or phone if we had any questions.
My extended family stayed here together for a mini family reunion in summer 2016. Overall we had a wonderful and relaxing time together. There is a ramp to get into the house and one bedroom/full bathroom on the first floor so it was accessible and met our needs. The house is in great condition, is tastefully decorated, and comes fully stocked with kitchen utensils and small appliances you'll need for your vacation. There is a dishwasher and washer/dryer which is awesome! You do need to drive to get to mostly everything and there are big box stores (Walmart, grocery store, etc.) in Brunswick which is about 15 minutes drive. There is a charcoal grill for use. There are only 6 bedrooms, not 6 bedrooms + bunk as the title states so we had to have one person sleep in the living room on the futon. That is fine, but be aware that living room has the only TV in the house so that person may not have much privacy as a result. We really enjoyed our stay and the property manager was readily available if we had any questions.
Some old college friends and I stayed here for a long weekend as a mini-reunion: 3 couples with 4 kids between us.
The house was spacious and immaculate, both inside and out. The cleanest and nicest vacation rental I've ever stayed in. There were 10 of us, and we had plenty of room to cook, hang out, or find space to be alone. It was very thoughtfully appointed -- lots of towels, and blankets, kitchenware, an ipod stereo, and even toys and books. The manager left lots of helpful notes (how to access wifi etc) and was very prompt about answering emails during the booking process.
The area is very quiet and residential. We were content to take walks and just hang out, but note we had to drive for food and the beach. Also note - we didn't get cell reception in the house, but there's a landline and wifi.
Our second year at Pinelights was so much fun! With three chlildren ages 3-5, parents, and grandparents we enjoyed endless meals on the decks and at the comfortable table, beachcombing, hermit crabbing, swimming, and cycling. There's ample bedrooms and decks, with both a sunny front porch and another with a shaded wooland view for getting out of the sun. The backyard has plenty of room for games and the little beach is a short walk away. The house is easy to use with internet access, grill, excellent appliances, cookware, towels, linens, etc.
