About this property

Located on our Private Fishing Pond

Cabin 5 is a 1-bedroom loft cabin by the pond. The bedroom is upstairs in the loft. The staircase to the loft is somewhat steep and made of wood. In the loft there is 1 queen bed, and downstairs in the living room there is a Queen size sofa bed. This cabin will accommodate a maximum of 4 people including children. On the main floor is the living room with a wood burning stove, full kitchen and bathroom with a shower. Cabin 5 has a partially covered porch that faces our privately stocked pond. It’s so close to the water you could fish from the porch! This cabin is pet friendly for an additional fee and is non-smoking.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Winter wonderland

Absolutely beautiful winter getaway, warm, cozy, quiet with all necessary amenities, as well as close to just about everything you need around town. This may just be our winter tradition for many years to come.

Weekend get away

This was exactly what we were expecting but even better. The staff is super friendly. They had firewood provided. The kitchen could have more variety if utinsils and pans but overall I would go again. I am so grateful they allow pets. The grounds are beautiful. We would absolutely book again.

only 2 things that could be fixed was the deadbolt did not work and the shower grout needs replaced(discolored). otherwise I loved the property by the fishing pond where we were able to feed the deer and watch the river otter. He was most entertaining!

Welcome! My name is Brian Waltz, and my wife Tawnya and I have been the managers for the Rio Colorado Cabins for the past 18 years and counting. We also have 2 sons Joshua and Zachary. Our goal for the last 18 years has been to provide exceptional customer care and to re-establish the Rio Colorado Cabins as a premier lodging facility in Red River, New Mexico. During our time as managers we’ve remodeled almost all of our cabins and have completed many other projects vital to the property. Another goal has been to continue to build our customer base, and we are so happy so many of our guests return year after year.
We know we may not be the perfect fit for every vacationer, but we believe we are the best at what we do, providing a memorable experience a 5 star resort simply can’t offer. We offer the opportunity to connect to the things that matter most, with friends and family instead of expensive amenities that lack the character and rustic charm our cabins bring.
