Our elegant, 6 bedroom Vacation House is located on a 300-acre, active cattle ranch. The 1000 foot tall mountain behind the house sits on 45,000 acres of BLM land. The main view is a 180-degree view of the 7,500 foot-tall, west-face of the Big Horn Mountains (a 3,500 foot rise above the valley and only 4 miles away). 10,000 foot tall peaks can be seen behind the front ridge. The house is surrounded by a working cattle ranch with a barn, fields, cattle, and another home (400 yards away, occupied by a family so you don't feel totally alone.) The house is fabulous for family gatherings and small retreats.

The house is arranged to accommodate both families and groups of unrelated individuals. The second floor offers a sitting room and three bedrooms (one with King-size bed and private bath; the other two bedrooms offer twin beds, 2 in each, and a shared bath). The basement provides a large Bedroom with 2 Queen-size beds with a bathroom suite (separated shower, toilet, and sink areas) and a second bedroom with 2 Twin-sized beds and bath. Stow-away beds in each of the bedrooms with King-size beds provide separate beds for non-related adults. The house sleeps a maximum of 14 people. Down comforters, Pendleton blankets, and soft sheets envelop visitors in luxury.

A Conference/Game room (8-seat poker table) is available on the lower level. About Karen & John Humeniuk

John, a dermatologist and Karen, a real estate property manager, who live in South Carolina, first visited Wyoming on the suggestion of family members who had visited the Big Horn Mountains. Not surprisingly - to anyone who has visited the Big Horns, they were stunned by the natural beauty of the mountains. They were also taken aback by the sublime beauty and serene quiet of the western foothills and bench-lands. So much so, that at after two more visits, they bought a ranch and made it their own home away.

Karen & John Humeniuk purchased this house in 2006

Why Karen & John Humeniuk chose Greybull

As a Southerner (Karen) and a former mid-western Canadian (John), we weren't known for being big outdoors folk. Yet, on a whim, we decided to try our hand at horseback riding and picked Shell Valley based on recommendations from people who visited the area decades earlier. That first vacation led to a second, and before long, the beauty and quiet of Shell Valley, nestled against the rocky western face of the mountains, had grabbed our hearts and wouldn't let go. Now, it's our pleasure to share it with you.

What makes this house unique

The quiet and solitude of the ranch grabs your soul while the 180-degree view of the Big Horn Mountains revives your spirit. A day spent with friends hiking, hunting, fishing, or traveling to Yellowstone nourishes friendships while the friendly and down-to-earth community of Shell welcomes you. Cares wander downstream with the cold, clear water of Beaver Creek while the chirping of birds and the lowing of cattle drowns out worry. Come, discover how 'quiet' feels.
