Why Owner chose Mountain Rest
This is a very unique home that was designed by my father. The home began as a A-frame with a loft bedroom at the top! Through the years, it has gradually been expanded on the back and sides to become a spacious home with a rustic and comfortable feel. It has a very unique stained glass window in the center peak of the home which may be recognizable to some music lovers!

needs more maintenance
We have used this property several times, but it seems like each year there are more repairs that need to be made. It is a lovely spacious home, but needs some TLC
We were staying here for a weekend get together with family. This home is beautiful and spacious. Everything needed for a stay is here including plenty of water/lake toys and board games. There were 5 children in our group and not once did we hear them say they were bored. Even though we were here in mid February, the kids swam in the lake and did some canoeing.
It was amazing never before seen experience for us.
The stay was very comforting, spectacular, and everything was as stated and it was more than expected and we will definitely be back soon.
The house and lake was good. The house keeping needs improvement. Cleaning products sitting out and the showers need better cleaning. The oven didn't work. I also wish the outside was better taken care of. The mailbox with the house number was on the ground, so we couldn't find the house at first.
Annual Memorial Day Family Trip
Every year my family does a trip for Memorial Day, we usually go camping but we decided to do something different this year and picked this house. It worked out great! Upon arrival we felt as if we made the right choice, we quickly unloaded the vehicles and were out back enjoying the lake. We were able to fish from the bank, dock or the canoes! The kids all had a blast playing in the water even if it was a little on the cold side. The house was more than big enough for all of us to sleep. This is definitely a great place to relax! The owner was more than accommodating with all of our needs and that made the trip that much better, the locals are also very nice!
Clean / Comfortable / Nice View
Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay. The home was clean and comfortable. The full kitchen was great for making meals. The fire pit was perfect for s'mores and the living room was super for a movie night. We went rafting and zip lining at Wild Adventures, which was a blast. We also enjoyed some fishing off the dock and a canoe ride around the lake. The view of the lake from the home was beautiful.
This area is perfect for scenic drives, waterfalls, beautiful lakes, whitewater rafting, golfing, antique shopping, snow skiing, fishing, and relaxing.
There are 11 scenic waterfalls within a 8 mile radius, as well as other scenic lakes such as Lake Jocassee, Lake Keowee, and Lake Hartwell. You can enjoy White Water Rafting on the Chatooga River during the Summer or Snow Skiing at Sapphire, NC in the Winter. Golfers can enjoy the course in Cashiers, NC
or drive to Asheville, NC, where it is home to the famous Biltmore Estate and Winery.
You can also drive to Atlanta to visit the Aquarium, Stone Mountain Park, or Six Flags Theme Park.
