Why The Owner chose Mountain Rest

This is a very unique home that was designed by my father. The home began as a A-frame with a loft bedroom at the top! Through the years, it has gradually been expanded on the back and sides to become a spacious home with a rustic and comfortable feel. It has a very unique stained glass window in the center peak of the home which may be recognizable to some music lovers!

excellent accommodations

  • 5 of 5

We were staying here for a weekend get together with family. This home is beautiful and spacious. Everything needed for a stay is here including plenty of water/lake toys and board games. There were 5 children in our group and not once did we hear them say they were bored. Even though we were here in mid February, the kids swam in the lake and did some canoeing.

Fine place

  • 3 of 5

The house and lake was good. The house keeping needs improvement. Cleaning products sitting out and the showers need better cleaning. The oven didn't work. I also wish the outside was better taken care of. The mailbox with the house number was on the ground, so we couldn't find the house at first.

Annual Memorial Day Family Trip

  • 5 of 5

Every year my family does a trip for Memorial Day, we usually go camping but we decided to do something different this year and picked this house. It worked out great! Upon arrival we felt as if we made the right choice, we quickly unloaded the vehicles and were out back enjoying the lake. We were able to fish from the bank, dock or the canoes! The kids all had a blast playing in the water even if it was a little on the cold side. The house was more than big enough for all of us to sleep. This is definitely a great place to relax! The owner was more than accommodating with all of our needs and that made the trip that much better, the locals are also very nice!

Clean / Comfortable / Nice View

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay. The home was clean and comfortable. The full kitchen was great for making meals. The fire pit was perfect for s'mores and the living room was super for a movie night. We went rafting and zip lining at Wild Adventures, which was a blast. We also enjoyed some fishing off the dock and a canoe ride around the lake. The view of the lake from the home was beautiful.

Just the right size!

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect for a family or a small group. We use this for a girls getaway a few times each year, and the size works very well. We have a beautiful view of the lake from the all glass living room, and the master has a lovely porch with a lake view. The house next door is a little junky but you can't see that from inside. You are off the beaten path enough that it feels like you're deep in the woods, but you're less than 30 minutes from a town big enough for plenty of shopping. We will absolutely be back.
