Overview

About the property

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 1 Bath, (Endless Waterheater)

Listen to the creek, watch the wildlife and be only a mile from town. This new home has Australian Cypress hardwood floors, indoor grill, heated by a Tulikivi (A soapstone fireplace from Finland), and cooled by canyon breezes. We lived here for several years and never felt the need for air conditioning. The home was designed to let the cool breezes cool it. However,we also have AC so that no one would feel any discomfort. No detail was left out on this unique layout with beautiful natural wood to create a lodge setting in a compact space. On the main floor there is one master bedroom with a king sized bed. There are two loft bedrooms accessed by a shipman’s ladder each with a queen sized bed and an additional single trundle bed. There is another raised sleeping area behind Japanese Shoji doors that houses a two twin mattresses as well as a carpeted play area. Sleeping for 10 can be easily accommodated in this unique layout. Jacuzzi tub and a home office make this a place to come home and relax after a good day skiing, hiking or biking. The kitchen is fully equipped and the home includes a washer and dryer. Bring a DVD and use our 110 inch Projection screen with surround sound. The canyon road goes for 4-5 more miles and then ends in wilderness area. With the Logan to Jackson bike race and the Top of Utah Marathon both in the valley, this home is passed everyday by athletes who are training in a beautiful setting.

Outside the house is a deluxe private playground with sand box, playhouse, swings slides and an adjustable basketball hoop for any kids who want to join you. There are 10 acres of land to take a walk across the bridges along the creek. We have seen deer (almost every day), raccoons, moose, fox, rabbits, pheasants, owls, and other wildlife that live in harmony with this home. Yet we are one mile from the post office and McDonalds. We have the benefit of quiet seclusion and still close to town. It is like our own private oasis.

We have just opened this house up as a vacation rental and wish to share a dream that we created in a beautiful setting.

For weekends, we require a two night stay unless the weekend is seven or less days away.

About The Owner

We have our home across the creek and are available for your needs.

The Owner purchased this chalet in 2001

Why The Owner chose Smithfield

It has great privacy and seclusion but within a few minutes of anything the valley has to offer. It is a very unique and open layout that is one of a kind.

What makes this chalet unique

Peace and quiet and being part of nature. But the warmth of the wood inside and the all natural materials such as slate and soapstone, make this very inviting. We even have a hammock swing inside to play on.

Our wedding was perfect because we found this cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our families, and I wanted to celebrate our marriage with a small, intimate ceremony and reception. We're all from out of town, so we wanted to find somewhere that would sleep all of us and that was pretty enough to have our wedding there. This was the perfect place! The property is absolutely beautiful, with a playground for the children and a small trail behind the cabin for the adventurers. The cabin slept 10 people with plenty of space. It's close to grocery stores, restaurants, and antique shops, and a short drive away from downtown Logan. We felt secluded but never too far from town.

The property was perfect for our wedding. Tom was kind and accommodating, letting us use the lawn next door for the ceremony and reception. His help and kindness made our wedding go so smoothly and it was incredibly enjoyable! We loved staying here so much that it's on the top of our list for future family gatherings.

Thank you Tom for providing us with such a beautiful and cozy place to celebrate our marriage with the people we love most!

Breathtaking beauty, peaceful seclusion

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved everything about this home. The location is convenient to everything you need, yet the large wooded property makes you feel like you're worlds away. The Tulikivi fireplace is a fun centerpiece to the home and we enjoyed building gorgeous fires in it, which made the home warm and cozy. The view from the master bedroom windows and the kitchen windows is all trees and sky. Try taking a walk downstream from the house across the bridge. The babble of the stream and the beauty of the trail as you cross the bridge will make the rest of the world melt away. The home's architectural design offered lots of possibilities for groups large or small. We had everything we needed for a great stay, from a well stocked kitchen to great entertainment equipment, including a large DVD collection. It was hard to leave! We would love to stay here again and would recommend this home to anyone.

It was wonderful!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the Prancing Pony and it was wonderful. The fireplace worked wonderfully to keep the place warm. There were plenty of beds and corners for everyone. The property was beautiful to walk around. This was a perfect property to stay in for the fall. I would have liked to see a bit more details "rental manual". For instance we could never figure out how to turn on the fans.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

This was our first VRBO experience and we are more than satisfied. This house was amazing. So cozy and inviting with an amazing open floor plan. The owner Tom is so nice and great at communicating! It was very clean and had everything we needed, including coffee, laundry soap, and even a crib for our baby. We will definitely stay here again!

This is a great place to stay for a family with young children.

Our family loved the Prancing Pony! Our three grandchildren loved the play area, the outside activities, the inside swing and sleeping in the little areas off the play room. The whole experience was great!
