This enchanting lodge is located just 4 miles north of Durango Mountain Resort. Be at resort activities in minutes, while feeling away from it all in a quiet and secluded, wooded paradise. The location of the home is also convenient for trips to the mining town of Silverton, one of the beauties of the four corners. As you arrive at the property you will find beautiful mountain and pond views from the deck. A large gazebo covers the large private hot tub. The large kitchen is a cook's dream with plenty of space and updated appliances. The family can gather around the large island with bar seating or sit at one of the 2 dining tables with seating for 12. There is a lovely sitting area with a large wood fireplace, perfect for curling up and watching the snow fall. Downstairs you will find theater room with 3 couches and an 80" flat panel TV. One of the couches is a sofa sleeper for additional sleeping options. There is a large laundry and utility room with washer and dryer on this floor as well. Upstairs on the top floor you will find 3 bedrooms. The master suite has a king bed with private bath and private balcony overlooking the mountains. The second bedroom features 2 queen beds. A full bath can also be found on this floor. The third bedroom is great for the kids featuring 2 queen beds plus a sleeping loft with 2 twin mattresses. This room also has a private bath. Step outside to enjoy a soak in the large, private hot tub or take in the beauty of the ponds and surrounding mountains. Please note due to the remote location this home does not have internet access. Cell phone service is typically good enough to use your hot spot to connect.

We booked this cabin for a 4 day ski/snowboarding trip up to Purgatory Resort. Arrival was simple: directions were accurate and the short, private road off of the 505 was nicely plowed. The cabin was nothing short of fantastic, so much so that a couple of friends that bailed at the last minute ended up coming up a day later. I didn't catch that WiFi/Internet wasn't provided but it didn't matter much. Between the fire in the living room, theater room with TV, the surrounding winter wonderland and the hot tub we actually enjoyed being in more or less internet seclusion (Note: T-Mobile and Sprint didn't seem to have any coverage, Verizon had full LTE and voice).
The cabin was fully stocked for those prepared to make their own food in the wonderful kitchen. Every bathroom had a nice assortment of advil to tooth paste and the washer and dryer down stairs was rather handy at quickly turning our clothes to be ready for more snow the next day.
Pay attention as local food choices are a bit limited past 7 PM leaving you with the Sow's Ear (a bit higner end, reservations required) or a local Pizza Joint called the Olde Schoolhouse Cafe which cares not for hospitality but right up the alley if you're in the mood for decent pizza and a few beers at a local dive. Stop in Durango to stock up before heading up to the cabin to save yourself 40 or so miles and remember that Needles Country Store is a nearby shop for quick essentials.
For the 4 of us that crashed at this cabin we couldn't be happier. I've stayed in Durango and Purgatory Resort a few times and this was hands down the best for a group of people. The only downside is that you have to take your shoes off when entering, but honestly... the charm and easy access to mud rooms at each entrance made this a breeze. Just bring some slippers as the stairs are a bit slick!
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here for our anniversary weekend and we could not have been more thrilled. The views were stunning and the home is amazing in every way. We certainly did not want to leave! The kitchen is a dream to cook in and I could not stop staring out the windows at the mountains. The hot tub was great to soak in at night under the stars. The media room was lots of fun and we got to enjoy some playoff baseball on the big screen. Our kids (6 and 8) joined us for one night and we had a blast together. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a secluded retreat that will take your breath away. We are locals and will definitely be back to stay at this home again!
We were so excited to stay at this house but when we actually arrived our excitement disappeared pretty fast. The garage is too small for a full size SUV so we had to leave our car outside. It was 5F when we arrived. The fridge smelled so bad we didn't want to use it at all. It was hot on the main floor but it was freezing on the second floor where all of the bedrooms are located. We had a 4 year old with us so we had to use all the blankets we had plus the once we have brought with us. We rented this house for 4 nights but left after 3 because of how cold this house was. There is no cell phone connection at all. Oh and in case you have to get up in the middle of the night you will wake the whole house up because of the squicking floors. They said there will be coffee filters but we didn't find any. The only good thing about this property is the location and the views outside , they were gorgeous. We were dissatisfied with our stay and the amount of money we paid for this place.
Cindy jester, 116 rendezvous, Amarillo Texas. We give the lodge a five star! When we drove up we knew we had hit a home run, beautiful place, everything you could think of for comfort in a mountain setting. The home was spotless, all the modern conveniences in a spectacular cabin atmosphere. The views were breathtaking and easy access to any activity Durango and silverton has to offer. Our bucket list adventures included Atv at silverton, train and ziplining . We will recommend this place to everyone and can't wait to come back. The whole process was easy with the property managers. Thank you for our stay.
The pictures on line really attracted us to this property, but to be there was amazing! From the beautiful views out of every window and deck to the spacious living space and kitchen area was way better than imagined. This place has everything! We usually go camping and pack half of the kitchen and house so it was so nice to walk in to a completely furnished kitchen and cabinets. We had 11 people staying - 3 couples - five in our room with the loft, another had 4 with the two queens and sofa sleeper, and the other was a couple without kids so they had the master suite. They had family staying at a resort nearby, so a couple of evenings the 3 of them came for dinner. The kitchen was the perfect size to accommodate everyone eating, laughing and talking! The hot tub was a huge hit for the 5 kids ages 9-22. One night we roasted hotdogs and s'mores and enjoyed the meteor shower later that evening on the deck. The movie room downstairs is a great feature but where we come from its over 100 degrees in August so we wanted to spend as much time in the cool mountain air as possible. Because we were so close to everything and Colorado offers so many outdoor activities we spent a lot of time away from the cabin. We rented jeeps in Silverton and drove to Engineer Pass and the Alpine Loop, rode the train from Durango to Silverton, hiked in Ouray, played at the Purgatory Village, horseback riding and shopping. Wished we had had more time to relax, but we did enjoy breakfast and coffee out on the deck every morning. It's my daughters senior year so I took advantage of the beautiful mountain scene off the deck and the meadow with pond to capture some wonderful pictures to use for graduation! Thank you for helping make our week perfect - We definitely recommend staying at this cabin!
Driving up to the Lodge we all cheered!! It was way bigger and more beautiful than the pictures had shown. The Lodge was amazing inside and out. All the comforts of home and more. It fit all 15 of us comfortably! We loved cooking in the big kitchen, the kids loved the huge media room and spent alot of time in the Jacuzzi, which looked out onto the mountains. We felt like we were out in the middle of the forest and loved it!!! We hope to be back sooner than later.
