About gaylynea frank

My wife, I and our oldest son left the city life in 1992 to move to the beautiful Upper Peninsula of MI... over 20 years and two more children later and we still enjoy all the UP has to offer.

Our children were able to grow up enjoying hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, swimming, 4-wheeling and anything else they could find to do in the great outdoors...

We truly thank God for allowing us to live in an area where we can enjoy His creation to the fullest.

On behalf of myself, my wife and our children, we look forward to being of service to our guests and ensure that their stay at The North Lodge is unforgettable!

The Franks,

Michael & Gaylynea

Richard & Cara (& Haleigh)

Why gaylynea frank chose Michigan

My wife and I always dreamed of building our own log lodge. After 3-1/2 years of hard work and 2 semi-truck loads of raw logs that dream finally came true.

As a builder, I enjoy being original in concept, design, function and quality coupled with our love for the outdoors we were inspired to bring the outdoors in! This was accomplished by utilizing the natural wood tones of nine wood species and the rugged look of stone resulting in a unique custom-designed, handcrafted, log lodge. The serene wooded setting of the Upper Peninsula forest only adds to the calm tranquility you experience with each stay.

If you want to enjoy the many activities the water offers, the lodge is located only moments away from many in-land lakes, public beaches & boat launches or maybe you'd prefer the scenic drive to one of Michigan's beautiful Great Lakes.

What makes this lodge unique

We personally have enjoyed friendships, family and quality time that is shared in the comfortable environment of the lodge. As an avid outdoorsman, the get-away experience in the woods (or nearby on the water) have always given great peace and relaxation. The North Lodge offers that same peace and relaxation, whether sitting under the covered porch, around the fire-pit or in the comfort of the lodge itself. We personally receive great satisfaction from the experiences of our guests; their enjoyment and pleasure at the lodge makes our attention to detail worth every effort.

Amazing Experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I invited my sister and her husband out for a little grown up get away and this was our first time renting from this site. Mark was amazing and so helpful through the entire experience. He made me feel very comfortable with doing this for the first time. We truly did enjoy our time at this beautiful cabin. It was everything we were looking for and more. The cabin was so clean, neat and totally equip for everyday living, so we needed nothing except food. We were close enough to the Dells but far enough to have all the privacy we wanted. We are really looking forward to returning and we are spreading the word. Thanks Mark for everything and you will heard from us very soon.

Absolutely fantastic

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I planned a very last minute getaway to the lodge this past weekend. We were highly impressed with the Frank's response back to us on such a short notice. We loved that the lodge had literally everything we needed for our trip...cookware, bedding, utensils, flashlights , towels -- you name it, they had it! The lodge was very well kept, clean and tidy and super spacious! We loved having the place for just the two of us, but it is also definitely a place for bigger groups to getaway too! We both agreed that we would rent and recommend the lodge again and again and again. The ONLY thing that would top it off would be a hot tub ;) Great place, thanks again for our stay!

Perfect home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect destination for our trip to the U.P. The only thing I would change is adding more time onto our trip. The cabin was lovely, clean, and everything we expected plus more. The towels and blankets that was provided was a nice bonus! I would book this place again in a heartbeat!

One of the Best places we have Stayed at for a Vacation.

  • 5 of 5

Went up for Vacation and the fall Color change so What can I say about our stay at the log Cottage is what the kids were calling it. First when we arrived we fell in love with it we could not get out of the car fast enough to go inside to look around and soak it all in. The kids had fun figuring out what bed they wanted to sleep in and checking out all the stuff inside also going outside to look around too.Every morning the resident chipmunks which was 2 of them would come and visit out by the fire pit and come up on the porch the kids would look for them every morning also my daughter also had a frog hop over her foot to while walking around the house and For a family of 6 we now have to get two hotel rooms and this was better we brought our own food and drinks so saved on money. One thing we had to get use to was no wifi, no land line and limmited cell but the cell probally had to do with we had att we got one bar in the loft area and if you walked down the street a bit you could get a 4 bar but it was fine we had no problems and sometimes you needed the down time. It was also in a great location for us for all the stuff we wanted to do. We went to 9 Water Falls and 2 light houses most of them were in Munising we also went to Grand Sable Dunes and Kitch-iti-kipi springs we would leave at 10am and get back at 9pm and we had fun also in Munising our favorite place to eat was Johnny Dogs but did not find that out til the last day but when back up there we will be stoping by to eat. So to sum it all up we would stay there again if we go back up for vacation and go back up for the fall colors change too it was Beautiful and the weather was great also. the owner keep this place up and looking great for their guest so Thank you for the great memory and vacation stay Gaylynea frank.

Wonderful experience

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful property, well cared for. The lodge is lovely, well decorated and very clean. Centrally located, an hour to Pictured Rocks or an hour to Tahquamenon. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Watch that microwave shelf.. It bites. Even when you're aware and cautious. ;)

Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: I am so glad y'all enjoyed your stay and were able to visit some of the beautiful sites the U.P. has to offer. Yes, you surely need to learn to manuever the microwave shelf... for me, not so bad since I am "vertically challenged" :) I hope y'all will consider coming back... Please let me know what we can do to earn your 5-Star rating!
