Paul was amazing and accommodating. Couldn't have dreamed of a better venue for our wedding.

  • 5 of 5

This property is beautifully kept and provided the ultimate wedding venue for our August 4th wedding. Paul was wonderful to deal with and we available to answer all our questions we had over the week. Thanks for making our wedding week fabulous!

Severe disappointment as wedding venue: needs thorough cleaning & repairs

  • 2 of 5

Spending 2 months on the road at 8 rentals, this was the dirtiest rental. Since we were using the site as a wedding venue, the large cleaning fee reassured me that the venue would be ready to use. On booking house last October, we requested removal of as many animals/birds/pelts as possible. On arrival, finding nothing removed, we were told we could remove and store whatever we liked. Great except this place has no storage. A large Xmas tree in laundry closet pushed all mops & brooms to entry closet. Four large metal cots fill master/guest closets so to use closets cots have to sit out. Finally had to store animals in dining room and cover glass doors. Kitchen cupboards full of party remnants of previous events. Bathroom cupboards contain many partial bottles of shampoo, etc.

Contract states have to sort garbage/recycling, put used linens in laundry room & start dishwasher. So large cleaning fee covered clean linens, clean bathrooms, clean kitchen counters & clean fridge. Two hours walking around inside our feet were coal black and had to be washed before bed every night. Almost every drawer contained discarded papers and personal items from previous guests as well as food wrappers on master closet floor. Thick layer of food crumbs under sofa cushions. I had to clean windows and dust after removing animals. Outside eaves were so clogged with needles that dirty water dripped on serving tables 24 hours after rain.

Most large leather furniture needs new padding or springs. My 120 lb mom fell through outside chair repaired with packing tape. Bought coffee beans before discovered grinder broken. Iron has piece falling off.

Cheapest thing was that all hangers were from dry cleaners or store discards. Had to buy hangers for wedding clothes. Funniest thing was toilet paper in all bathrooms was too large so sat on top of holders. Even though we'd been left with enough for 6 days, had to buy proper paper for event. Also like to note that Paul uses detached garage for his business so trucks/people coming at different times including when we were trying to take wedding photos. Finally, although the pics show a peaceful setting, I was surprised how close the house was to the highway and amount of road noise.

My biggest regret from this experience was not videotaping the entire place on arrival. Under full disclosure, my wedding guests broke 2 outside lights which wiped out my damage deposit.

In spite of the conditions, we had a great wedding.

Simply Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The property is stunning. The photos simply don't do it justice. The outside space is incredible and the local wildlife (including Ted the dog) was a great escape from "real life". Paul the owner was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It's a shame we spent so much time away from the house exploring all that Nova Scotia had to offer which includes friendly people, great food and drink and breathtaking scenery. If you're planning a stay in the area, don't look anywhere other than here. I doubt it can be bettered.

A trip of a lifetime. We will be back one day.

Beautiful and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful week away at this stunning venue. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing spot. We enjoyed endless walks of the property, enjoying the gardens and watching the ducks. Sitting next to a peaceful evening fire with the sound of bull frogs in the pond was the perfect way to end a day. We loved it and are booked again!

Could not have asked for a better week. Our wedding day was perfect and the venue was a popular subject of conversation amongst guests throughout our stay. To make things even better, Paul was on hand to answer any questions we had and even lend his tools to assist with some of the wedding set up. We were sad to leave and are already looking for another reason for us to rent the property again in the future.
