About the property

Located in Lemont, home of the famous Cog Hill Golf Course, this home, circa 1868, with over

4200 SF is now available to rent. The history of this home includes the Singer Family (Inventors of the Singer Sewing Machine). The Singer Mansion was recently featured in the popular 'Chicago Magazine' Real Estate Blog by Dennis Rodkin. It's deep rooted history has it's story told in the local Lemont History Museum and local log books. The stage is the late 1800's but with the modern convenience's of 2017.

The Conservatory is meant to be enjoyed year round and is perfect for your first cup of coffee in the morning, or a glass of wine in the evening and bird watching all day long. The fireplaces are original to the home and the marble mantles were imported from Italy. The Cherub chandeliers are from France You can feel the history all around you and the charm is captivating.

There is a gazebo in the back yard for lots of photo opportunities.

All of the comfy bedrooms has it's own special and unique 4-poster bed(s).

The very large 2nd floor family room can easily support additional sleeping options and there are two twin beds available.

Whether you are a family or a group traveling together we can accommodate unique dining table and sleeping arrangements.

The Singer Mansion is a step back in time (for those who appreciate the workmanship of long ago), a place to rest at the end of a long day spent exploring our wonderful attractions in Downtown Chicago and/or a place for you to host your corporate event away from home.

About Cynthia Busse

As a Licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois for over 28 years, I have seen a lot of homes,

but this one is truly unique, and we have found that owning this home has been such a gift.

The history is so unique and the character is so abundant. We are in a place where we are lucky enough to be able to share our experience with others and have chosen to do so. We hope that when you come here to visit you will be taken back in time and your visit here will become a fun adventure in itself. The surroundings are beautiful the experience unique. In our years of travel we have seen many B&B's, private homes and Inns and would hope that this would live up to all of your expectations.

Cynthia Busse purchased this house in 2006

Why Cynthia Busse chose Lemont

Of course, the beautiful city of Chicago is a short distance away and the attractions there are endless.

We are also minutes away from the world famous Cog Hill Golf Course where the BMW Golf Championship Tournament is played.

Water Fall Glen, 5 minutes away, is excellent for hiking and biking! The historic and quaint "downtown" area of Lemont is a sweet place to walk around and explore. If the yard isn't enough, there are two parks that are walking distance from this home so the little ones can have fun and get some fresh air!

What makes this house unique

Our Atrium is a beautiful place to sit and relax. The squirrels and the birds are right outside all the windows and no mosquitoes!

Our Library with it's French Chandelier is another place to get lost for a day, and read a book, or play a game of checkers.

After a long day, coming home and having this fully equipped kitchen to prepare a meal in, can be a nice trade off to a restaurant meal.

A great space for family to connect

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful and historic property had great spaces for our family's visit to The Chicago area. It accommodated the oldest and youngest of our group with room to spare. The big, breezy porch was my Dad's favorite spot, while the openness of the kitchen dining area made it possible to cook and visit at the same time. The upstairs rec/play room was great for morning yoga and movie night. Thanks for sharing this home with us.

Wow what a great place to call home on a holiday

  • 5 of 5

BBQ'd on the patio, watched the fireflys on the porch in the evening, enjoyed morning coffee in the sunroom and relaxed in the library. After a busy day in the city this place is heaven!!! Restaurants are some of the best anywhere and only minutes away. What a great home and can not say enough about the owners, such amazing people.

Amazing Experience for the Whole Family

  • 5 of 5

What a stroke of luck that we found this amazing home to stay in. Cynthia was on top of things from start to finish. My mom and dad were celebrating their 80th birthdays and we pulled the six siblings together for a time of peace, laughter, relaxation and total comfort. Three of the siblings live in the Chicago area and the other three live in other states (Minnesota, Florida and Texas)

We can not put into words how charming the mansion is. We all repeatedly said, "You could stay here a week and still never see everything". Charm, culture, history, and beauty are among just a few words to describe the mansion. And then there is comfort, wonderful hospitality and everything you could possibly need to feel right at home. Mother nature even arranged 6 inches of powder snow for us to just sit in the big glass aviary and enjoy. That was a special treat.

We are all hikers and walkers and walking in this neighborhood was delightful with the hills and beautiful, well established homes.

I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves to relax, read about history, enjoy sitting and experiencing multiple rooms full of charm and culture. And even the chef can feel right at home in the kitchen.

We all left with peace and harmony in our hearts.

Thank you again and again -- We would love to come back!

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

Our stay included my 92 year old mother, my adult nephew and his wife, my husband and me. We use to live in the area and our long weekend had many family and friends stopping by to say hello, (and see the great house). Room for everyone and everything we needed was there. The upstairs bedrooms are large and oh so comfortable. The sun porch was an instant favorite and we used the dining room for a game room. Lots of card playing. All who stopped by were impressed, very impressed. It was like staying with a beloved relative in their wonderful home. The upstairs family room had games and toys for the little ones and room for the guys to watch the Bears game. From downstairs you can't hear any thing from upstairs, including your cell phone so carry it with you, or get yelled at like me from my sister!!!! The train to Chicago was close but we opted to drive downtown and it's an easy drive straight down I55, not fast getting home but straight! I can't imagine a better home to stay in and Cynthia is accommodating and helpful. Her restaurant recommendation, Illinois Bar and Grill, was spot on. I would recommend The Singer Mansion to the most particular. Cleanliness was exceptional.
