Wonderful out of town getaway within Saguaro National park.

  • 5 of 5

The Bunkhouse is a perfect desert home away from the city. The location is ideal for hiking the Tucson Mountain range, the Saguaro National parks, and for sight seeing. Lou and Ozzie make the stay comfortable in every way. For those wanting complete privacy Lou and Ozzie make sure you are not disturbed...but for those wanting a more social experience Lou and Ozzie are great to hang out with for conversation or hiking or gathering recommendations. The Bunkhouse is well equipped , comfortable and clean. There is more than enough storage and closet space. The office area is a great space for anyone who needs to stay connected for business. The landscaping is a relaxing oasis. Orange and grapefruit trees stand right outside your door. And a huge front porch awaits you for morning coffee...quiet dinners...sunsets...or just kicking back. The internet worked well for our business and pleasure requirements.

We would highly recommend The Bunkhouse for a Tucson home away experience. We plan to return.

"Stop searching! You have found "perfect."

  • 5 of 5

Apr 26-May 5. As soon as we stepped inside the Bunkhouse I knew this was going to be a cozy, comfortable home away from home. I think the first words out of my mouth were "oh my God, how cute!" Yes, everything you need is there, including a corkscrew and a blender (a BLENDER!), and a library's-worth of information on the area (museums, birds, where to have breakfast ... you name it) including maps. Lou and Ozzie have thought of everything. [And if you have back/spinal problems, you will find the mattress quite comfortable. Just firm enough to make everyone happy. Big issue for me after two back surgeries.] Storage space out the wahzoo! And then there's the front porch. I think we spent the first two days just "decompressing" on the best porch ever! One would never think there would be so many different birds in the desert. Anyway, suffice it to say, the Bunkhouse is a perfect place to stay if you are looking for serene surroundings, breathtaking natural beauty (I'm talkin' a huge, blooming Saguaro cactus outside the kitchen window!) and, for convenience, two dollar stores (best ever!) a beer/wine store, literally "just down the road," and the Walmart SuperCenter and all things "Mall," i.e., Kolh's, about 10 minutes away, and downtown Tucson maybe 15-20 minutes away, look no further! This is a beautiful, peaceful (do I have to go back home?), NO HUMIDITY, location where you can unwind, sight-see, explore, hike, or just watch the owls (baby Peepers) to your heart's content. Brilliant place to spend your well-deserved vacation time. We will return to this perfect place. Thank you to Lou & Ozzie.

Completely wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We came to the area to see the beauty that SaguaroNP had to offer and found we barely needed to leave the property. Lots of wildlife right outside - hummingbirds, roadrunners, a bevy of quail, great horned owls....wonderful! The landscaping of the property was so professional and yet very natural at the same time. Accommodations were perfect for us and we did not want for a thing. And though it was 102 degrees when we were there we knew we were just steps away from a refreshening dip in the pool -my favorite part, well, that and having fresh grapefruit for breakfast picked right off the tree outside our door. Our hosts, Ozzie and Lou, were kind and gracious and beyond helpful. Would never stay anywhere else . Loved the Bunkhouse experience.

Desert Retreat Near Tucson

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit at the Bunkhouse and we absolutely love it there. Ozzie and Lou are fantastic hosts and fun to spend time with! The Bunkhouse is in a quiet location and surrounded by beautiful natural desert landscaping. Grapefruit and orange trees are on the property and loaded with delicious ripe fruits. We spent many relaxing hours on the large porch reading, relaxing, watching the birds and rabbits and the beautiful desert sunset. The Bunkhouse is close to Saguaro National Park and the Tucson Mountain Park which both have lots of hiking trails if that's your thing. The Desert Museum is close by also. A pleasant drive thru the desert and over a mountain pass will take you to grocery stores and restaurants. If you're looking for a quiet affordable retreat in the desert, we highly recommend the Bunkhouse.

We loved the Bunkhouse. Quiet, peaceful. Nice backyard with hammock and charcoal grill for cooking. The front deck was a perfect place to watch some gorgeous sunsets and the hummingbirds. The pool was a great place to relax and cool off. The landscaping was beautiful. You really are out of town and get a desert experience. The bunkhouse is comfortable and cozy and has everything you need. Lou and Ozzie are great hosts. Very helpful and friendly. We definitely want to return and would stay longer.
