NEIGHBORHOOD:
This quiet and beautiful apartment is on the edge of the medieval town of Lagos with pretty streets and excellent bars and restaurants. The modern, friendly and relaxed Coffee and Restaurant Maria Gulosa is located in the same complex and offers a large menu of fresh and quality food, good coffee and drinks for a reasonable price. The fish market is an interesting place to visit as you walk the few minutes to the town centre. The avenida along the estuary has been modernised to a very high standard and offers upmarket and modern dining.

Coast/Beach: You will find a variety of different beaches in Lagos; several small protected Beaches with limestone cliffs around a 5 min walk along the beautiful avenida. The 7km long sandy beach of Meia Preia is around a 8 min walk across the bridge and past the marina. There is lots of free car parking for those who would prefer to drive. There are lovely beach bars selling cocktails and snacks that will complete your beach day.

There are a number of supermarkets within easy walking distance and they all offer a huge range of local foods and fresh fruit and veg as well as the basics and necessities that you will need during your stay. There are numerous banks with ATM machines. There are many leisure companies on the marina offering trips to see the wild dolphins and to visit the beautiful caves and grottos around the coast at Ponta da Piedade. You can also hire boats for fishing trips for varying lengths of time. There is a small train that takes sightseers around the coast to Ponta da Piedade for a small cost. A recommended trip is the jeep safari that takes you through the Cork Tree Forest and into the Monchique mountains and offers a wealth of information on the people of the Algarve.

GETTING AROUND
Car: NOT NECESSARY. Closely situated to the train station (5min walking distance), bus terminal (2min walking distance) and all other amenities: coffees, restaurants, shops, boutiques, supermarkets, beaches, banks with ATM machines, the Promenade, the Marina and Golf clubs.

Faro airport is around 50 mins drive (highway). You can rent a car in the airport. If you wish to take a taxi, we recommend you to book in advance a professional and serious taxi driver by Yellowfish Transfers.

Other transport options are:
Train Faro-Lagos (7,50€, 1 hour 50 minutes).
Bus Faro airport-Lagos (2 hours 10 minutes).

BEACHES IN LAGOS:
+ Meia Praia: the most popular tourist beach, consisting of soft, white sand, Meia Praia is one of the largest open bays in Europe, resulting in calm seas, permitting conditions for many nautical sports, while cliffs provide sheltered coves from strong windy conditions.
+ Praia da Batata: a small beach tucked between two small cliffs (where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean), it is known for the small music festivals that take place there during summer.
+ Praia da Dona Ana: its areal is slightly thicker than the beaches in the surrounding area and it is surrounded by striking rock formations. At high tide the beach is split by the geomorphology of the cliffs.
+ Praia da Luz: located in the parish of Luz, the beach is bounded in the east by Rocha Negra (English: Black Rock), providing summer vactioners with a popular escape during the summer.
