Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 7)
Grace's Place is a real Maine cottage , with pine floors and a working stone fireplace. Walk down the path to a sand and stone beach, read a book on the inside porch or outside deck with a great view of Harpswell Sound, Bailey's and Orr's Islands and the open ocean beyond, while the kids play in the yard. This is a very quiet location, just right for that get away have you been looking for, with enough room inside and out to avoid that 'cabin fever' feeling.
That said, Grace's Place is close to Brunswick with its music festival and music theater, Bowdoin College and great restaurants; Freeport, with LL Bean; Portland, with the Sea Dogs baseball team and great waterfront shopping and dining.
A deep water mooring is available for your boat, or a captain and 30' sailboat are nearby for charter.

We had a delightful time in Grace's cottage. Our five children loved it as well. We had breakfast on the deck every morning. Thanks so much! We certainly hope to return.
Lovely House in a Beautiful Spot
We had a wonderful vacation in this house. The house is very comfortable with distant views of the ocean. The house is clean, spacious, and the kitchen is well-equipped. Mary and Jack are really nice people and made us feel at home. We had a wonderful, restful time and we would definately stay here again. Thank you!
Graces Place Cottage
The cottage is very cute and quaint. We stayed for three weeks. Jack and Mary were very nice people. The day we arrived, there was a heat wave. They provided additional fans to make our stay more comfortable. While Jack and Mary were great, the house needs TLC and was not comfortable for us. Our first night, we were invaded by bugs coming in through the sun room windows. Jack was able to tape around the windows but we continued to have bug issues the remainder of our stay, including waking up in the morning to find that we had been bitten by bugs during sleep. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. We went out and bought additional pillows to try and make sleeping bearable. Wifi works ok. There were problems when all three homes were trying to use devices all at once. The kitchen needs help. Two of the stove burners had to be lit with a lighter to make them work. The appliances are old and need to be updated. No blender or toaster. There was a toaster oven but it did not work well. We ventured down to the "beach" only a couple of times. The "rock and sand beach" is mostly rock and wet with a lot of flies. It is tidal, only exposed when the tide goes out. Not a typical sand beach. While Graces Place is a cute and quaint Maine cottage, we did not feel that the value was there with all of the issues we encountered, having paid almost $3,500 for three weeks of dealing with many issues and for a miserable stay. We truly feel that we should have been given a partial refund with everything we had to deal with. The cottage needs to have updated ammenities. It can still be a Maine Cottage with some updated comforts of home to ensure that it is comfortable. It was a lot of money for what we dealt with then and continue to deal with after departure.
Hi, Monica. As you know, we made every effort to correct the issues you pointed out to us during your stay at Grace 's Place. I wish I had been informed of all the problems listed in your published review. Let me respond.
"Bugs" -as you described them-"little gnats and mosquitoes ". With seven people coming and going, this kind of insect is to be expected. Your review seems to suggest a much worse type of bug. This is profoundly inaccurate.
Perhaps you are unfamiliar with gas stoves. The stove has a pilot light, which probably blew out when the door to the deck was opened. We would gladly have fixed this. The stove is old, but has reportedly worked fine.
There is a blender in the bottom kitchen cabinet.
The refrigerator , including ice maker, is about two years old.
We have checked the toaster oven and found that the closure seems to be broken. We will replace it.
There has never been an issue with uncomfortable mattresses. Perhaps your family prefers a different firmness.
Our listing describes the beach as tidal and consisting of sand and rocks. Yes, there are bugs outside and on the beach.
The cost seems fair for a cottage that sleeps seven with cooking facilities, washer and dryer, porch, deck and sun room, four bedrooms and other comforts.
Wi-Fi might be expected to be slow with five or more users in one house. We have increased the speed of the modem and speed of use should improve.
What an amazing stay we had in Graces Place!
Our experience here was amazing! With 6 of us it was very comfortable and love the views from this amazing Maine Cottage! Jack and Mary was very nice.. Made us feel like family. We didn't want to leave this place. Highly recommend Graces place if you want to experience the Maine Coast and LL Bean is right up the road. There is even a little store 2 miles away that have great pizza or you can pick from many places for fresh lobster and clams! We will definitely be back for another visit here!
Great property, great location, very comfortable
We (a family of 5) stayed in this cottage for a week and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was very comfortable, had everything you need there, and a great view. Jack and Mary were very accommodating ... even gave advice on what we can do in area since we've never been to Maine. Its Magical! I would recommend this cottage...would definitely come back!
Great for families. Enough room for three generations or two families. No traffic. If you are looking to relax either as a family or as a couple, but still be close to Portland, Boothbay, and the other attractions mid coast Maine has to offer, this is the place.
