About Angel and Mabel Rivera

We are hardworking professionals who enjoy the city life and enjoy escaping to the mountains as much as we can. We enjoy riding our motorcycle, ballroom dancing, and traveling. We have 3 dogs; a beagle and 2 miniature schnauzers.

Angel and Mabel Rivera purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Angel and Mabel Rivera chose East

We have enjoyed coming to the Smokies for over 17 years and worked hard to finally purchase Storyteller. We remember the realtor taking us around town to see cabins but the minute we walked into Storyteller, we were hooked. The gazebo is what gave us the idea to call the cabin Storyteller. Our families were used to gathering for hours on end and telling stories about life, funny moments, and stories they wanted us to remember and pass on.

What makes this cabin unique

When staying at Stroyteller, we enjoy the scenery of the mountains, rafting, shopping, but most of all doing nothing at all; just kicking it back and relaxing.

Amazing Views

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed the cozy cabin. We couldn't wait to use the fire pit; however, we never used it once! We were always too tired in the evening from all of the things to do in the area. The fireplace inside was awesome for early morning coffee and late night television.

The property is very well maintained and spacious. We really enjoyed the cabin this time and cooked every night. We enjoyed the rafting, but more so the eclipse. This was by far our best vacation in Tennessee.

Nice but needs a few pickups

  • 4 of 5

The dryer did not work!! Tried to do laundry but after 5 times drying on high at 120 minutes each time and they were still wet we decided to give up 😁 Found a scorpion in the bedroom right by the bed! And the driveway is VERY narrow and scary lol! Other than that it was a great stay. My family and I had a wonderful time... ohh and definitely should accommodate a group staying a week a lot more with garbage

Owner's Response: Thank you guys for taking the time to submit a review! We appreciate it. We recently replaced the dryer on May 8, 2017 just 3 months ago. Although the dryer is extra large, it is best to wash small loads during your stay instead of 1 extra large load towards the end of the stay. We had our housekeeping check it and it worked just fine. Since you mentioned 120 minutes...could it be you were setting wrinkle control instead of the knob with dryer time? The 120 minute setting is on the wrinkle control knob and this does not heat up at the "high" heat level since items are supposed to already be dry. Maybe this was the issue? Yes, you will come across critters in the mountains! :) We have Arrow Pest service our cabin monthly to spray. The Smoky Mountains has all sorts of bugs and you will see these and many other critters. We surely have seen them but they either dead or groggy. Not sure I understand why the driveway would seem narrow as we have a very wide and paved driveway as seen in our property pictures on page. We have 2 full size garbage cans in metal cage. We don"t have county garbage pickup or public dumpsters for private cabins. We let guests know upfront about this and let you know where you can take any excess garbage during your stay. Our housekeeping can also come out to haul your garbage at anytime for a fee if you prefer to have it picked up at your convenience. Thank you for staying with us!!

Great cabin

We had a wonderful time in this cabin with our family. Loved that we could have our dog (who is family) with us. Very impressed that there was even a yard for him to play in. Beautiful cabin. Thank you for letting us enjoy it.

Great property

  • 5 of 5

The house was more than wonderful for our family of six. The kids loved the pool table, the jacuzzi and the fire pit. We loved the chairs on the balcony. The view was obstructed by some trees (a couple dead), but it was a great view of the mountains. The cabin was clean and everything we needed was there. We were planning to do laundry at the cabin, but after the dryer took three hours for one load we decided to wait until we got home. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining table is gorgeous. Furniture was comfortable and fit in with the cabin feel. We look forward to visiting again!

Beautiful and Very Cozy

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at your cabin. Unfortunately we tried to cram too many activities into our short stay. Didn't spend much time in the cabin, but it was very beautiful and away from everything. Thank you for making our trip memorable.
