Overview

About the property

Studio, Kitchenette, 1 full bath, outdoor shower, sleeps 2

Nestled in the quite fishing town of Hau’ula on the windward side of O'ahu, this rental is the perfect getaway for a couple. This ocean front studio with its own yard has everything you need. It’s a 5 minute drive to the Polynesian Culture Center which I highly recommend you visit, and a 20 minute drive to the heart of North Shore where the big waves are.

But in front our our place is all reef where you can paddle around on our (1)single person kayak or our (1) double person kayak,or snorkel and count the many colorful fish that live directly in front of the property.

.

This is the side of the island for sunrises, and surf. Chances are you can take a beach walk in the morning and only see a soul or two. There are a few local trails to hike in the area that range from beginner, to advanced. But whatever trail you decide the views are breathtaking.

.

We are local kamaaina. We are not investors from outside the islands. We can give you lots of local tips and help you plan a wonderful vacation. Find out where the best beaches are, spectacular hiking trails to waterfalls, local art and crafts shows, nearest farmer's market to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, the best restaurants where the locals eat.

There’s lots of local farms nearby selling fresh organic fruits and vegetables, Tiki carvers on the road selling their craft and a world renowned golf course (Turtle Bay Resort) only minutes away.

Any stay in Hawaii is Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 5 nights in November at this studio. Overall my wife and I were pleased with the property. It is small and unfortunately not a beach view from inside, but we spent such minimal time inside that it didn't bother us at all. Walk right outside and there is the beach which at this time Nov '17 does not have a beach to go enjoy. But as I learned the ocean is always moving and could have a beach by the time you visit the property. The BBQ grill was great to have to grill out on a few nights. The bed is comfortable and the ref works great. It's a little larger than a apartment size unit. The outdoor area was nice as well, but if I would recommend to the owners that it does need cleaned up a bit, just looks a little rough. But again not a deal breaker. The maintenance man was nice and helpful, and although he stays on sight was out of the way. Laundry facilities were good to have. My wife and I would definitely stay here again.

Disappointed.

  • 2 of 5

The place was really small. Which was ok as my daughter and I are usually on the go and don’t spend a lot of time in our rooms - but this was small. What was most upsetting was the fact that even tho the discription says ocean front, you really are not. This is a studio carved out of a home which is ocean front. But there is another room, studio, something, that is in front of the studio that blocks out all sight of the ocean. There is absolutely nothing that opens to the ocean. You can’t see it from your room, there is no door that opens to the back yard, there are no windows that you can open and hear it from your room. Really disappointing. To enjoy the ocean you go out the side door, walk past your room, plus the room connected to the rest of the house, and into the back yard. Even tho we are gone for the day, my daughter and I like to sit and have coffee and look at the water in the morning, and sit to relax before turning in for the night. It was just awkward. The other thing that made us uncomfortable were the two windows it did have. Two little actual porthole windows in the wall - right over the bed. These did not open. Nor did they have any type of window covering! I went outside and looked in, thinking maybe there was some type of coating that you couldn’t see in. But you could. Granted, they were at the side, and there was a fence between the houses - but the houses are really close and the fence was not high enough to cover the windows. In a room as small as this was, there was no where to go to not be in front of the window, except the tiny bathroom and shut the door. We made make shift coverings out of extra towels every night. If anyone asked for recommendation on this rental I would point out the above two points. This is not a place I would choose again.

Very peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to relax after a 7 day cruise around the islands and this was the place to do it. It was very peaceful and beautiful. To be right on the ocean front was a wonderful treat for us. It did not matter what time of the day it was the ocean views were breathtaking. We especially loved the morning walk on the beach. The studio was very clean, nicely decorated and stock with what you expect to have when renting a vacation place. We would rent it again if we return to Oahu.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our visit to Hawaii consisted of three rentals, one near Pearl Harbor, which we loved, a Waikiki Hotel on our last night and an apartment in a private home near Sunset Beach. We arrived at our Sunset Beach rental and after a couple of hours, knew it wasn't for us. I got back on VRBO and started looking at this part of the island, which we loved from our drive from Aiea to the North Shore. I had considered this Bungalo prior to our trip and was amazed to find it available for an immediate 3 day rental.

We had a budget for under $200 a night, private and personal vs a resort or condo. Pictures can be deceiving and after our disappointment with the North Shore rental, we didn't want to get our hopes up. However, it was everything we hoped it would be.

Yall, the room is TINY. That said, it was extremely comfortable and PERFECT for this older but young at heart couple, celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary in Oahu.

Reiko responded to our reservation request almost immediately and we were given directions and instructions. The key was accessed via code and we settled in with no issues.

The best description I can give is it reminded us of a Cruise Ship balcony cabin with a very small sleeping/dining area (though the kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed the outside propane grill and palm leaf covered table and outdoor shower! ) small but adequate bath/shower area and a MOST WONDERFUL "balcony" (actually our backyard!) overlooking the Pacific. We spent the majority of our time outside, enjoying the waves washing over our shared but private beach area. The morning after we checked in we met the property manager, Kamuko, over the fence and he made sure all was well and offered to get the kayak out for a morning kayak ride!

Keep in mind, we were paying double...the rental for 4 nights where we only stayed one night and this 3 night Bungalo rental. We even tried to rent here another night and would have cancelled the hotel but it wasn't available.

This IS the Windward side and it rains quite a bit here but no worries! Plenty of sunshine and we had such fun watching the Black Crabs on the sea wall and the waves splashing in our little piece of heaven.

Mahalo, Reiko and Komuko, we will always have wonderful memories of our time here!

Not as advertised

  • 2 of 5

The place was clean, good location, and had a beautiful view. The issue I had with this place is that it was not as advertised. The posting lists amenities that you don't have access to and the pictures need to be updated. The posting lists that you will have laundry access, but there is a padlock on the entrance to the laundry room, meaning you do not have laundry access on site. The kayaks the post lists you will be able to use are in the owners yard, which makes you feel uncomfortable using them because you aren't really sure if you're allowed to. Overall not a terrible place, small, but I was expecting that, but the bed was comfortable and there was A/C. I just would never have booked this place if I knew the amenities listed would not be available.

Owner's Response: Dear Kately We appreciate you taking time review our property. We are slightly confused on your description of our amenities outdated. We always have and continue to provide amenities such as kayaks, snorkel gears, BBQ grill, hammock, and washer & dryer. All amenities are available for our guests to use all time. In the instance of the washer and dryer, I emailed you prior to your arrival in which I asked clearly to give us notice when you intend to use the machines. So that we can make sure it is available and the door is unlocked. For safety reason, kayaks are located in unlocked fenced area. Most of the time our property manager, Kamoku helps to unload kayaks to the ocean. He ensures our guest is safe and have a fun in the ocean. He also accountable for who and when someone is in the ocean. Of course, he can not be there all the time. That is why the door is unlocked, that way we don't limit our guest to use kayaks. We treat our guests as Ohana (family). Being a Ohana, we take good care and communicate each other. We wish you would reach out to us while you were here. Aloha Reiko, Masa, and Kamoku
