About Marcia Wagner
We live just outside Washington, DC in Bethesda and have three grown daughters who were raised here. My husband and I met in Vermont and after moving for school and work settled here where we have lived on the same street for 27 years. You could say we love our neighborhood!
Marcia Wagner purchased this Condo in 2010
Why Marcia Wagner chose Estate Salt River
After renting at Gentle Winds for many years we purchased I-8 and did a complete renovation which took a while but it was well worth it. We love to play golf which is what attracted us to the island in the first place and we also enjoy the beach, sailing and hiking.
What makes this Condo unique
The setting at Gentle Winds is unique. When you arrive you just exhale because it is so relaxing and beautiful to look at. We chose to be in the I Building because it is closest to the water and has the best views. The beach and the pool are just a stones throw away and the soothing rhythm of the ocean finds you whether you are inside or out.

Don't look any further
Great location, easy access to Christiansted and Frederiksted. This condo has everything you need for a great vacation. The grounds are well kept. There isn't enough nice things to say about this condo. If you stay anywhere else, you will be disappointed.
Spacious unit, beautiful views, quiet, secluded property and central to everything.
We spent 15 days at Gentle Winds that went much too fast. We have been coming to St. Croix for over 30 years and usually stayed closer to Christiansted, but that is changing. We had heard good things about Gentle Winds but as creatures of habit, we never checked it out.
Most of our time is spent on the North Shore. Golf at Carambola, our beach bar/restaurants, and snorkeling sites, etc. are all within a short distance of Gentle Winds. The first week we were on our own, and friends arrived on Friday for the second week. Having never been to St. Croix before, we were anxious for them to discover what we've enjoyed for years. The condo offered two of the three bedrooms with sea views, so we all got to drift off to sleep with the sound of waves breaking near the shore, and wake up to sunny waters. When we weren't out exploring, we enjoyed laying out at the pool or at the beach. The beach hut (it's bigger than that) Sandy Toes was a hit. We were able to get cold drinks and have lunch if we didn't want to venture out.
The unit is located in the building closest to the water. It had all we needed for our stay. Washer and dryer (very quiet), three full baths, large refrigerator, coolers for our trip to Sandy Point, plenty of beach towels and everything you'd need to cook a meal if you chose to do so. It was very comfortable in the unit with soothing breezes and ceiling fans (very quiet) in every room. No need to use the AC. Everyone slept well.
The grounds are meticulously maintained, and if you are a golfer, there are areas with small greens to help you work on your short game. The pool is large, clean and very refreshing. LED lighting that changes colors adds a nice touch.
If you are looking for a quiet condo resort with all the things you'd look for on a tropical island, and a condo that lets you live as if you were home, Gentle Winds is your place. This may sound like a promotional piece, but I assure you we were impressed enough to make this our new base of operations when we come to St. Croix. We are all ready to book ourselves back next year, and hopefully, many years to come.
The secret is out!
Great Family Getaway
Overall, my family had a great time in St Croix, and we are very glad we stayed at this property.
+ Beautiful view of north shore of St Croix from 2 bedrooms and living room area. The screened balcony is where we spent most of our time.
+ Nicely maintained and stocked with reading material, games, movies and local info/recommendations
+ Kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans, etc so we could eat in when we wanted to
+ New washer/dryer in unit was great, stocked with detergent
+ Great cross-breeze and sound of crashing waves makes you feel like you are on the beach
Gentle Winds Complex:
+ Great community with friendly people
+ Very short walk to the pool and beach. Great for quick trips to the beach/pool with the kids.
+ We felt safe at Gentle Winds with on-site guard at single point of entry to the complex.
+ Located in close proximity to a great selection of beaches with great snorkeling and diving options.
+ Good selection of restaurants on the north shore of St Croix. Rowdy Joe's and Waves at Cane Bay were our favorites.
+ Far enough away from the city to be quiet, but a quick drive to gas and grocery stores.
Thank you for capturing the essence of Gentle Winds and St. Croix. We always appreciate the feed back from guests either way, but yours was especially on point. We hope you will plan a return visit.
This property was phenomenal- perfect location, well appointed, lovely decor.
We had the distinct pleasure of staying in this condo over the Thanksgiving holiday. We were three couples traveling together looking forward to a relaxing vacation. We were hoping the condo had the basics - as we planned on being "out and about" most of the day. When we walked through the door of this condo, our plans quickly changed. It was beautiful and far exceeded our expectations! The kitchen had everything you needed, the balcony with the table and chairs with a view of the beautiful beach, was perfect for morning coffees and afternoon cocktails! What was most impressive was that all three bedrooms had king sized beds, lots of closet space, and en suite bathrooms! It was apparent that our hosts thought of everything to make their home an oasis for their guests. Although we did tour other parts of the island, we found we spent more time at Gentle Winds - the beach was breathtaking and the accommodations were fantastic. A very sincere thank you to the Wagners for sharing their lovely home. We will be back!!
Great beach and views
The setting for this condo is beautiful. We appreciated having king beds and private bathes for each couple. Having beach bags to use and plenty of beach towels was great. The pool, bar and beach with the cabanas for shade was awesome. We were there during an unseasonably warm spell so using the air conditioner was a must for us. We liked how the location was kind of central to the island and it was a simple drive to all the attractions we wanted to visit. The best dining we found was on the shore to the west of the condo, Rowdy Joe's was our favorite dinner spot. Bobby, the on island manager, was very helpful getting us from the airport to the condo.
The only negative thing that happened was after we left the condo the management did not feel we had treated their property with respect even tho we followed all the guidelines and warned me of a bad review and possible loss of my damage deposit. If you are the kind of person who does not want to sweep up sand on your vacation and you are expecting housekeeping to take care of that you might want to consider a different rental.
I have had many renters over the years at Gentle Winds and My housekeeper reports to me after each rental if something is amiss. The sand was a minor thing. I know it is a beach location but most people make an effort to clean the sand off their shoes at the front door when they come in not in the bedrooms. My main complaint was that the next guests arrived the same day and the condo reeked of cigarette smoke and had to be aired out extensively. Although smoking in the condo was denied, I have a hard time believing that since cigarette butts were found under the couch, not just in the trash. This is the first time this has been clearly violated.
