You will see touches of my French collection of art, antiques, garden ornaments and fountains throughout my property which I continue to enhance on my travels. My large collection upstairs and downstairs of books includes an impressive selection of books on the historical influences found in gardens around the world. I also have a large selection of poetry books that may be of some interest to some of our visitors.

I am not always here to greet you but you will sense my welcome to you when you arrive in my uniquely appointed home and gardens. Merci for considering staying with us. We look forward to your visit.

MICHELLE LEBLANC purchased this house in 2007

Why MICHELLE LEBLANC chose New Orleans

There is no more vibrant, personable, and walkable section of New Orleans then Riverbend where the myriad of 19th century houses and its people have such character. Since I write and lecture on the historical gardens I have found a great resource from my strolls through the glorious neighborhoods that surround my home and gardens.

What makes this house unique

Experience the charm of an authentic 19th century New Orleans home with its upscale comforts yet historical references. The 12 ft. ceilings, exquisite furnishings, and large rooms are one of the first thing some guest note on their arrival. Others enjoy exploring the rooms to view the fine art and antiques that they discover on their stay. However, one of the most wonderful experience is the warm and gracious setting one feels in the kitchen for breakfast or dinner where fond memories are made through good food and conversation. You will want to cook in this kitchen and then slip outside to the outside dinning area to enjoy the twinkling lights strung along the 7 foot stucco walled garden wall all year long. The favorite spot most of my guests enjoy gathering is the verdant expanse of the pool area with its numerous seating areas The sound of the fountains flowing makes for a romantic candle lite night. In the warmer months most of my guest have chosen to sip cocktails by the pool while they take a refreshing dip after a day of sightseeing. There are many places to have private conversations on the grounds that has several gardens enclosed behind stucco walls and antique gates. My favorite is star gazing on the upstairs terrace on a clear night.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We loved our stay at the absolutely beautiful Oulala House. The owner's profession as a garden ornament consultant could be seen everywhere from the front door 19thc urns to the antique olive jars in the pool and garden area. We were delighted at how many goodies the owner had put out to welcome us upon our arrival. Wine, milk, bacon, eggs, coffee, orange juice, cookies, chips, nuts and her signature chocolate kisses throughout the house in bowls. Fresh flowers on tables and in hallways made us feel like we were at arriving at a special party just for us. The house is gorgeous and makes you feel like you are in Old New Orleans, but has all the modern conveniences that we would want. The wonderful patio gazebo and pool was our favorite gathering spots where string lights and candles set a great mood for the night. We want to come back next year, as this was a memorable experience. You will love your vacation here!

The Oulala House in the Garden District of New Orleans is absolutely magnificent. Michelle, the host, was equally great. We were greeted by her upon our arrival and given a tour of the historic house, which was beautiful and spotlessly clean. We had 12 travelers on our trip and everyone stayed comfortably. There are plenty of bathrooms and beds to be able to sleep a large number of people. The backyard is incredibly well kept with beautiful landscaping and the pool was clean and inviting. It was a great relief from the humidity and nice to come home to each day. Michelle has provided several binders with a great amount of information on local restaurants, bars and attractions in the city, which made it easy to figure out exactly where we wanted to eat and find interesting places in the city to check out. The house is very conveniently located, right by the trolley tracks. For around $1, you can take a 30 minute trolley ride to Canal Street, which puts you near all of the big attractions and famous restaurants in the city.

As a born and raised New Orleanian who moved away 35 years ago, when I come home, I want to be somewhere that makes me feel at home, not some boring hotel. The Oulala House checks all the boxes and and then some. Beautiful, comfortable, and the location was PERFECT!! The house was stocked with goodies and special touches everywhere were evident of the care and love the owner has for her home. I went with 8 family members and it was just incredible. We will be back...

First time to NOLA and we are so glad that we decided to stay in a house than a hotel. I feel like my group and I were able to get the real NOLA experience by staying in the Garden District. This house is absolutely incredible! You must book to stay at this place! It is gorgeous and so elegant. We felt comfortable and safe here. Michelle and her sister were so sweet and accommodating 24/7. My only problem was that I didn't stay longer! I will definitely book again and would recommend staying here to everyone! Clean, beautiful, safe, comfortable, and easy accessible to everything in NOLA. It made our stay 100% awesome! Book Now! :)

From start to finish, our entire trip to New Orleans was fantastic. We were greeted by Lisa upon our arrival and she gave us a tour of the property and what restaurants and attractions are around the neighborhood. The neighborhood is very quiet with some awesome places that are walking distance. (Cooter Browns, Amelia's, Daiquiri place...etc) The pool was amazing and especially pretty at night. Michelle also had some bread & wine upon our arrival and eggs waiting in the fridge! The French Quarter was a 15 minute uber ride away which was very convenient. We will definitely be back!

The house was perfect for our family. Very spacious and well laid out. The courtyard and pool provided hours of fun for everyone. We used the BBQ grill a few times as well. The kitchen equipment was great quality and put to good use. We enjoyed dinner at Vincent's and breakfast at the Camilla Grill... both were excellent! The daiquiri stand around the corner kicked off our afternoon cocktail hour daily. I look forward to staying here again and recommend it highly for anyone looking to come to NOLA and enjoy the best of the city without the hassle of driving around the quarter. We used the St Charles line to get around almost everywhere.

Owner's Response: It was a joy having such a delightful , fun-loving family stay in my Oulala House/ Pool & Gardens. My staff is always so thrilled each time we get another 5 star review as they pour their hearts to make everything inviting for our guests. Our goal is to give our guests a classic real New Orleans experience while they stay in my historic home appointed with my collection of fine art and antiques. . I am so glad that you experienced some of the many famous restaurants only a block away ( Vincent's is voted the best Neighborhood restaurant in the city every year and Camilla Grill is so popular that visitors take the streetcar from the French Quarter to stand in line for breakfast here in the morning). As you discovered by staying in this great area of the city, there are so many award winning restaurants and hip music venues in walking distance of the house. . And just as the locals do ,, you used the streetcar and its magical scenic ride along St. Charles Avenue as your means of transportation to and from the French Quarter. I hope you come back as you said you would like to as there is so much more to explore in this vibrant neighborhood and beyond. . Thank you for your wonderful 5 star review which my staff celebrates each time we get another one. Our goal is to get 50 by the fall and you just added our 43rd consecutive one to our list of posted reviews. Y'all, Come back soon !

Owner's Response: What a beautiful loving family with so much joy to share. Having such wonderful guests as you always reminds me of why I love sharing my historic home with delightful people such as your multi-generational family who want to " live like a local" in New Orleans. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your time being truly together which is best experienced when you can rent a whole home, with lots of places to spread out and gather for conversation during your vacation. For future guests, my observation is that our guests do so much during the day and then return at night to just hang out together, grandparents to grandchildren, enjoying the twinkling lights of our lush tropical gardens, swimming, grilling and sharing lots of laughter by the pool's flowing wall fountain. And, if some in the group want to step out, great restaurants and night venues are in walking distance of the house. Thank you for being such lovely guests. Please come back again soon!
