Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at The Chocolate Moose! It was a treat to wake up and snuggle on the porch swing drinking our coffee. It is very close to the Murray Cove where we put out boat in. Our kids loved the bunk beds and it was such a fun and whimsical place. You have done a great job and we appreciate you being so accomodating :) Hope to be back soon!

Place was great until minor problem left us feeling annoyed

  • 3 of 5

My boyfriend and I met at Chocolate Mousse to celebrate 3 yrs together. We were high school sweethearts, and reconnected over 35 yrs later. He lives in NC and I live in GA, so we met there for a quick weekend hoping to see some fall colors. We found the place very unique, quaint and comfortable. No complaints! However, the second 1/2 of our stay wasn't quite so comfortable. After spending a nice day shopping, hiking, and enjoying Tallulah Falls, our original plan was to have dinner at the house enjoying crab legs we had purchased in Atlanta. I was looking forward to another hot shower (the night before the shower felt so good after the drive- Hot water with great pressure) and while my boyfriend was washing his hands he said there wasn't any hot water. He got a flashlight to go check things out and found the propane tank completely empty. So no hot shower, and no cooking dinner (stove/oven were gas) and not even toast for breakfast the next morning as we could never find a toaster. I knew there was no one arriving the next day to rent the house so when my boyfriend emailed her to tell her about the gas I suggested he ask if we could check out at noon instead of 11 am. We realize it wasn't the owner's fault since the gas company should have been on top of the situation, but I felt like perhaps she should have done something to compensate for this since we had no way of cooking and taking ice cold showers wasn't an option. She did tell us to stay as long as we wanted the following day after he asked so maybe she thought that made up for our unfortunate experience. Not really since the extra time we stayed was about the same amount of time it took him to figure out the problem scouting around in the dark with a flashlight. We enjoyed our time together, and found the place delightful, just an unfortunate situation.

Cozy little cabin tucked away in a lake community

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for two nights and the location was convenient to surrounding towns and communities to explore for day trips. It is just autumn and the leaves are staring to change and fall so the scenery was superb for a getaway. Very quite. More than ample space for 2 adults. All of the comfort of home and very clean. For those looking to see the lake, you cannot from the cabin itself, just a short drive and you can see beautiful Lake Burton. For the main living areas I would suggest some time of drapes or blinds for a bit more privacy at night. There are brackets up, so I am guessing that is to come soon. The neighbors on either side can watch you in the main living area from their living areas and porches. (Only reason we gave 4 stars). We chose not to cook while we were here so cannot comment on that but the programmable coffee pot was a nice luxury. Loved the front porch with swing, tranquil place to curl up with a book and cup of coffee. Or to relax at night and listen to nature but be away from the bugs with the lovely screened in porch. Too many great little things about this little cabin to list. It's a must is you are looking for a place to stay in this area. We would definitely come back to spend a longer amount of time and may bring the kids to check out the charming bunks. This was just a quick getaway and recharge for us. Thanks to the owners for creating a eclectic, pristine rental property without worries or hassles.

Cozy, Inviting and Absolutely Adorable!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent the weekend at the Chocolate Mousse and absolutely loved it! It's a small, cozy and inviting little cabin at a great location. The decorations are so fun, the cabin and all linens are very clean. Our only small negative was the humidity level in the cabin and the closeness of the neighbors - let me specify that the neighbors are not disturbing at all, there's just a lot of open windows! But that did not interfere with our enjoyment in the least. The kitchen had everything we needed including a gas stove and iron skillets to my husbands excitement. There's a washer, dryer, table, games, and even TV and internet if you fill the need. Saving the best for last was the amazing screened in porch - I could have just stayed there forever! Just so cozy!

Of course we did get out some too! Just 2 miles from the cabin is the marina on Lake Burton where we rented paddle boards and ate dinner. We also visited Clayton (about a 30 minute drive) which is a cute, little, historic downtown with different shops, galleries and restaurants.

Fortify Pi is a pizza place downtown that we loved! (It's sister restaurant is next door serving a more traditional menu - I've heard great things about it as well.) Saturday afternoon we enjoyed a wine tasting at Stonewall Creek Vineyard which was delightful and refreshing.

So if it wasn't obvious - we definitely plan to visit Chocolate Mousse and the surrounding area again soon!

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Chocolate Moose is a great getaway nestled among peaceful sounds and scenery. A great place to relax but also very convenient and conducive to outdoor activities or venturing to nearby towns. The decor is unique and very appealing with a great selection of colorful artwork and other features. Our favorite was the screened porch with the swing bed. That has inspired us to have one built for our porch! The pictures show window coverings which look so nice but the windows did not have anything on them which was a disadvantage because of a greater lack of privacy on each side of the cabin where there are neighbors. This would be my main suggestion as far as any changes and also maybe a more efficient coffee maker. I still rate the property as excellent and would stay again.
