West Chicago Creek runs through the entire property with many waterfalls and feeds a natural pool filled with pan sized rainbow and brook trout. The creek is literally just a few feet from your door, and can be seen and heard from your cabin.
Secluded yet convenient, rustic with modern comforts, only 40 minutes to downtown Denver and less than one hour from DIA. Just 6 miles to the nearby historic mountain town of Idaho Springs, and yet so far away.
Vintage 1950's cabin is ideally suited for a romantic getaway. There is NO television, telephone, internet or stress!
Fully furnished, well equipped, and tastefully decorated in a rustic cabin theme, our cabin features 1 bedroom and 1 bath, exterior log siding, full knotty pine interior, and hardwood floors throughout.

Situated on a quiet, well-maintained county road with easy year round access. Just five hundred yards off the Mount Evans Scenic Byway and halfway between Idaho Springs and Echo Lake. Drive the highest paved road in the Northern Hemisphere which leads you to The Call of the Canyon.
This is where the Colorado Gold Rush began in 1859! You can still explore working mines and pan for gold and gemstones or discover abandoned ghost towns nearby. The cabin is located on an historic gold and mineral mining claim. There were never any actual mines on the property, but you might get lucky panning for gold in the creek!
FOUR 14,00+ foot peaks to explore nearby: Mt. Evans, Mt. Bierstadt, Gray's & Torrey's Peaks. World Class skiing at more than 6 major ski areas, all within 20 minutes to less than an hour away! Colorado's newest ski area, Echo Mountain Park, is only 12 miles from your cabin and offers night skiing. Enjoy shopping and dining in the nearby mountain towns of Idaho Springs, Georgetown and Evergreen.
For serious adventure seekers, take a whitewater rafting trip on one of the steepest raftable waterways in the nation, moments away and still one of Colorado's best kept secrets. Or try one of several new Zip Lines close by. Miles of wilderness trails surround the cabin. Fish, Hike, Bike, Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe right from your door!
After a day of exploring the abundance of activities nearby, come home to the comfort of your cozy mountain cabin. Stoke up a crackling fire in the big stone fireplace, a feature you're sure to enjoy year round at this altitude! Later, the warmth of your log feather bed, made up with cozy flannel linens awaits. Let the sounds of the babbling creek just outside your window lull you into a deep and restful slumber. Wake up refreshed and enjoy your morning coffee creek side while catching a glimpse of the many species of birds and wildlife who make this beautiful setting home. Cross the wooden footbridge to the secluded island and read or nap from the hammock while listening to the waterfall. Enjoy a glass of wine from one of the many creek side seating areas while watching an incredible red sky sunset reflecting from the canyon wall. Peaceful and beautiful setting! Wonderful time, home was cozy and warm.
Thank you for a wonderful cabin! We enjoyed it very much!
Mary is a great host and the cabin was perfectly set in a beautiful canyon not too far from civilization. I will return!
Better than anticipated.
The cabin is well maintained and very nicely decorated. The location was perfect (apx 8 miles from town). Very peaceful setting, rushing creek in front, hammock, sauna, lots of hummingbirds. Could not ask for more. The owner was inviting and helpful. Would recommend staying here to anyone looking to disconnect from the rush of everyday life.
Setting was great but owner seems completely over it and lives on the property. Prior to booking she stated there was wifi and cell service "if you step outside" and in reality its an 11 minute drive to Idaho Springs. She disclosed after check in "rules sheet" that no unregistered guests were allowed on premises without prior consent, so Sat morning we asked if we could have 2 (very adult both Docs who live in Boulder) stop by for a quick tour of our cabin. She refused. She also said she didn't whack the weeks by river to due rain...but it was sunny the 3 days we were there and there was no weed whacking going on. Just left overgrown river banks that could have otherwise been a nice sitting area. I'm introverted and don't need a lot of attention when I travel, but this owner was just restrictive and unpleasant, at best.
Our cabin is clearly advertised as a place to unwind and escape technology. As an 'introvert who doesn't require a lot of attention when you travel', you requested a "get acquainted" phone call after booking the property. It was explained that internet service would be spotty and if you required extensive internet, there were several places in the nearby town that provide that service. As I recall, you checked your cell phone immediately upon arrival and had cell phone service in your cabin. You did not have to drive 11 minutes to get cell phone or internet service! And no, you did not "ask" for an exception to our 'no unregistered guests' policy, rather you informed me that you would be having a "few friends over to see the cabin" shortly before their arrival. We don't see the need for guests to be conducting public tours of our property. Weed whacking and other disruptive maintenance isn't performed while the property is occupied out of consideration for our guests. How unfortunate the natural growth by the riverbank ruined your stay. Your partner left a glowing review in our guest book. It's disappointing that because you were unwilling to follow our policies and wanted to make your own rules, you felt the need to leave a negative review on VRBO. Property owners beware.
More than expected!
From the kindness of the owner to the beautiful views we will never forget this stay!
Relaxation at its finest!
The cabin and surrounding area was everything we had hoped for and more! I thought I would die without cell/internet/tv, but I actually dreaded going into town and my phone beeping with messages. If I had not left children back at home, I may not have turned it on at all. The cabin is beautiful, the amenities are perfect, sitting out by the creek, or laying in the hammock. I recommend it to anyone who just needs to get away from it all. It was a perfect location, so many things to do within a few short miles.
