Kingston House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 6

Like the museum it is named for, 'Whitney in the Woods' appears simple and unassuming on the outside. But inside it features original artwork, hand-crafted furniture and unique accents to delight and inspire you ~ all set within the context of a deep still forest. The colors of the forest are reflected in the interior wall colors, and oversized windows and sliding glass doors bring the outside in. The open floor plan allows the living, dining, kitchen and work spaces to flow together ~ and outside, through sliding glass doors that open onto a two-level deck overlooking a private in-ground pool. A vaulted stairway leads to three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a master with a king-size bed and largei tub under a skylight with a separate glassed-in shower. Relax in the peace and beauty of nature without sacrificing luxury or culture. You can have it all at 'Whitney in the Woods'! Well-behaved dogs are welcome. The area is magical and culture is everywhere don't forget a camera.

Oh yes, sking is near by with a choice of places

Our area hosts many music venues, live theatres and festivals such as the Jazz Festival, Garlic Festival, and the Woodstock Film Festival each autumn. Antique and art lovers will find treasures galore. A variety of restaurants, farm stands and farmers' markets will satisfy any appetite. Horse lovers note - we are close to H.I.T.S. Fleas markets and tag sales are weekend treats. Ski Hunter Mountain for winter sports.

About Charlotte Tusch will help you reserve this property.

I'm an artist in all ways. Reflected in the interior of the home and the grounds. The light, the style, the furnishings and of course the art.

Why Charlotte Tusch will help you reserve this property. chose Hudson Valley

This property captured my heart. Private, beautiful landscape, quiet and peaceful. Sitting on approx 5 acres of land with wildlife and rock out croppings each view is magnificent. The pool and the amenities in the house also added to my luxurious comfort needs.

What makes this house unique

Private but so close to everything I need.

RESTFUL STAY AT WHITNEY

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time with my family beating the heat in the pool and central air that the house had at our disposal. Great morning sun to bathe in and a bookshelf full of new works and classics to read on the deck or one of the cozy couches. The open floor plan was excellent for socializing during any period of the day. The grounds are well maintained, and the trees bring you the privacy that is desired. tall trees between you and the nearest neighbor makes for good relations. The drawback to the tall trees is that it blocks the afternoon sun from the pool area. the proximity to the food, liquor, gas and tourist stores are conveniently close. Had the most restful vacation in a long time. I plan to take the house again next year if no one beats me to the punch. For those with an eye for art, there are a number of pieces to enjoy, including the stallion and the mare trotting towards each other in the master bedroom. Nice touch.

Beautiful, fun, and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Whitney is a beautiful home - impeccably decorated, neat, clean, and comfortable. There were six adults and a one-year-old in our party, and we had plenty of room. The kitchen and dining area afforded lots of space for cooking and eating, and the Woodstock area offered many restaurant choices (Including vegan and gluten-free options) when we didn't feel like cooking. The grounds and neighborhood are very private and quiet. We loved the pool, and used it and the many pool toys every day we were there. The Jacuzzi in the master bathroom was also a big hit after an evening swim. There are lots of nearby activities, including hiking and kayaking, and several cute little towns to explore. The manager was very helpful and available for any questions we might have. We had a great time!

Owner's Response: This is exactly the intention of Whitney in the Woods to provide a wonderful place to retreat to in luxury and peace. I'm so happy to hear wonderful things from families, couples or individuals that come to stay and find the magic here. Smiling is important and that's what I'm doing... rental manager: Charlotte Tusch (Scherer)

Great Family Home

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house in August w/ our 2 small children and had the best time. The pool and deck were great and it's on a quiet block, very peaceful and rural. The art in the home was beautiful (we moved a lot of it out of toddler reach, but we loved the way the house looks). The only thing that needed a little updating was the kitchen - the cabinets / ovens etc. But we did cook a lot of breakfast and lunch and it was really fine. Also, the home is 5 mins from "downtown" woodstock, and the restaurants were awesome. The manager was attentive, nice and helpful. We'd definitely rent this home again.

Perfect summer rental

  • 5 of 5

We've happily rented homes in many places, but weren't prepared for this one; the photos don't do it justice! Beautifully furnished with fine art and crafts in every room; luxurious beds and linens; well-stocked kitchen; and air conditioning throughout (a welcome relief, since we hit a heat wave!). The pool area was a perfect escape, too--well equipped with lounge chairs, pool rafts, and grill. Location couldn't have been better for proximity to Woodstock and other Catskill destinations. Owner was very gracious when we met her upon arrival; she even left some beverages and food for us in the refrigerator. Though kitchen cabinets can use some repair and upgrade, and the water has a (harmless) sulfa aroma, everything was spotless upon our arrival. Would definitely go back.
