Very relaxing beach cottage. Two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. One and one half baths. Fully equipped kitchen. Free wi-fi. Front and back decks. Very difficult to maintain stress here. Lovely beach location. Once you have stayed here, you will return.

Three generations of our family enjoy our time at Dillon Beach. We love the long walks on the beach. Surfing, skim boarding, walks on the beach, fishing, crabing and claming. It's all here.
Richard Bortolazzo purchased this cottage in 2001
We have been coming to Dillon Beach for over thirty years. We always returned to vacation here. So we decided to buy the 'Sea Captain.' And, now it's a family treasure. We come much more often, and stay longer.
When we stay at the 'Sea Captain,' we walk all the way down the beach to Lawson's Landing and have coffee with some of the locals. Great exercise and fresh air. Staying in the 'village,' as the locals call it, is like a throwback to previous times. It's kind of like being removed from the rest of the world.
Had a wonderful week at this lovely little beach house. We have two large dogs and it was perfect for them. Property Manager, Carolyn was super easy to work with and her whole family made us feel very welcome. House was clean and had everything we needed for a great week's vacation. We hopefully will be returning this year.
This was our third stay at the Sea Captain. The house is very dog friendly, with old hardwood floors and a few area rugs. Everything is very clean. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking: there are literally dozens of sharp knives, many skillets and pots and pans, and all of the standard large and small appliances. The house does not have a dishwasher, but neither does our own home. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner here without a problem. There is both a deck with chairs out front, up half a flight of stairs, as well as a private deck out back. Both have short fences; the back one is also gated. There is no internet at the house, and my AT&T cell didn't get any reception there, but that is solved by walking up to the 1st few houses on the road to the beach (literally facing the beach) -- reception kicks in there. The best part of the house (besides the cleanliness, decks, and quiet location) is that it is literally only a few minutes on foot from the beach. If you're renting a house in Dillon Beach, you want to be in the village, NOT way up the hill, which requires driving to the beach and paying a daily fee. We will be returning for Christmas 2015 and also plan to return a few times in 2016.
Wonderful week spent here. Very clean and had pots, pans, everything you needed to cook your meals. The only thing I would suggest is getting a different mattress for the hide a bed or getting one of those foam mattress toppers as it was almost unbearable to sleep on. Ended up just sleeping on couch. Very peaceful area. Saw a lot of wildlife etc. Only drawback was the weather. Cloudy and foggy all week. Of course you can't control that but we went to Sonoma area for wine tasting and the Korbel tour was awesome. Drove to Point Reyes and took a short hike. Beautiful. North of Bodega Bay was gorgeous as well. Fishitarium restaurant in Bodega Bay was delicious. Check in and out was seamless. The Sunday $5 fish and chip special at the restaurant in Dillon Beach was awesome.
We were pleasantly surprised that this was nicer than the pictures show. It was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only PROBLEM was that the pull-out bed was AWFUL! The springs were poking up and there is a bar going across the bottom that hurts your back. This rental is misrepresented as sleeping 6...It actually sleeps 4 comfortably. A 5th person could sleep on the couch if they aren't too tall. We had to cram 3 people into one bed. Also, there was no dial tone on the land-line and only Verizon works out there, so be prepared. The ladies that handle the rental are kind and laid back, which I appreciated. Other than that, the view was nice and we had a relaxing weekend. We enjoyed walking down to the beach everyday!
We loved this vacation rental. It is very clean and well-furnished, and it is right in the heart of the village of Dillon Beach. It is very well suited to people with dogs since it has dog-friendly floors and furniture. The interior of the house has recently been re-painted; it’s quite lovely and has nice artwork on the walls. The kitchen had everything you need to make meals (great pots and pans, sharp knives, etc.). The kitchen table seats 4. The living room is equipped with a large, comfortable leather sofa (seating 3-4) and 2 wooden chairs (so, that room seats 5-6). The house has both a front and back deck. The front deck has a pretty good ocean view which is also visible in the house with its huge front windows. (Some homes in the village part of Dillon Beach don’t have a view at all, so we appreciated the view.) The back of the house has a much larger furnished deck with a fence that is about 3.5 feet tall. We had large dogs with us, so we kept them on leashes: they’d easily go over a short fence (one jumped it immediately). A very small (Chihuahua-sized) dog could escape through the gated picket-fence area. However, for us, it was just fine with the leashes. The two other DB homes we’ve rented didn’t have a back yard at all, so we were genuinely happy to have the space and privacy. It is a plus and one more thing we liked about the house.
Since the house is in the village, it is a very short walk to the beach (unlike homes way up on the hill, which generally require a car drive down plus an $8 gate fee to get on the beach). The house is a short walk from the convenience store and a cafe, too. Having stayed at Dillon Beach for the past 4 Thanksgivings (and having camped at Lawson's for many decades before that), I would definitely recommend homes in the village for convenience.
For those who haven't been to Dillon Beach, it is a wonderful destination. Well-behaved dogs can go off-leash at the beach. If you stay at this or any house in the village, you can pop over to the beach several times a day. We like to walk through the beach to the marina and walk back through the campground.
We rent homes quite often and would definitely recommend this home to small parties (2 couples or a family of 5). Again, it is well-suited for people with dogs/kids, and that made it a great fit for us – and it will again in 2015. Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us.
This was the perfect spot for some of my coworkers and myself to escape for some much needed r&r. The house was just as pictured upon arrival. The first thing we all agreed on was that we are definitely going to make this a yearly trip that we take and that we will definitely be choosing this lovely home again as long as our group doesn't end up getting any bigger. The views of the ocean were breathtaking and serene and we even saw 4 deer trotting down the street. The home was fully stocked with amenities and we couldn't have asked for a better, more relaxing place.
This was also the first time that I had ever booked a rental home for a trip and the property manager Carolyn made it a breeze and such a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this home for a peaceful get away.
Short walk to Dillon Beach. Very large walkable beach with no steep drop off
