Why Patricia Rahn chose Clear Lake

We chose this home after looking at properties all around the lake. We wanted to be able to tie our boat at our own dock and enjoy immediate access to the lake without going through channels to get there. We wanted no street between us and the water, and to feel like we were getting away rather than crammed next to a close neighbor.

What makes this house unique

The spacious patio sundeck overlooking the lake is party central with the barbeque, dining table with umbrella, lounge chairs, and is surrounded by plants flowers and potted palms. The unique position of this house allows us to see beautiful sunrises, enjoy shade in the afternoon, and sunsets from the dock. The vaulted ceiling in the great room give a feeling of space that most other homes we looked at did not have.

Magical!!

  • 5 of 5

We came here for a long weekend, and everything was perfect! The house was great, kids had a blast, and the fishing from the dock was fantastic! The property and views are STUNNING! We came into town, picked up a few groceries, and didn't leave the property the entire time we were there.

The owners were super accommodating, and an absolute joy to work with. One of my favorite VRBO experiences so far. I can't wait to go back with my family!

Jane and Family

  • 5 of 5

We have been renting at Clear Lake for the last 39 years and this home by far was the nicest. We were 6 adults, a baby and a beagle and I don't know who had more fun, probably the beagle. Seriously, a great house with all amenities, awesome location, quiet, quiet, quiet and an incredible patio. Patricia and Greg are easy and pleasant to work with and really seem to care that you have a great vacation experience. And we did!!! Thank you.

Upscale

  • 5 of 5

Originally what was for 8 people ended up for 5. I recommend using up the occupancy. The house is large enough to be better enjoyed with more people. The initial driveway is a little tricky and not paved, but the location was great for us and our truck. The house is in great condition, you must bring a propane tank for the fire pit, but it made for a good night fishing light source. One member of our group caught 3 spotted bass off the dock, it kept the rest of us fishing. My one recommendation is know what dates your going, changing dates in time still costs and doing last moment can forfeit what you have put into it. Patricia, was very polite and accommodating. Be sure to follow her recommendations closely to get the most out of your stay. If you like a upscale lake retreat with all the true comforts of a home, this is your place.

Wonderful and Relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

April 2017. Just returned from a week-long stay and had a very relaxing time! First time to Clearlake and wanted to offer our comments for future travelers.

Owner (Patricia) was very quick to respond to any of our questions, and extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations! She showed a genuine interest in ensuring we had a pleasant vacation.

House and property was very clean and tidy. The house was well equipped with everything you need to accommodate your stay (i.e. dishes, glasses, silverware, utensils, pots &pans, etc.). Outside landscaping was well kept and lots of furniture to lounge as desired. Dock/boat lift was very well maintained and very stable, making it easy for my 83-year old FIL to access and feel comfortable. Dock/boat lift was the perfect place for fishing making it easy to cast your line completely around the perimeter reaching both shallow and deeper water.

Although we’re not “Bird Watchers”, there was an abundance of different species and truly enjoyed seeing the variety of birds that can be observed while lounging in the backyard. We also saw a few deer on this trip.

We knew April was pretty early in the season, but wanted the get-away just the same. Fishing wasn’t that great, and only caught two largemouth bass during our entire stay. This might actually attest to my poor skills as a fisherman vs. the location. :) Had a huge fish on the line but got too anxious and ended up losing it. Other fishermen that came by in their boats mentioned the fishing was a little better at the northern part of the lake, but none were having that much luck. Very windy during our stay which made it uncomfortable to be out on the dock for any length of time.

House is very close to neighboring property and felt a little uncomfortable staring at and overhearing the neighboring tenant’s conversations, and knowing they were doing the same to us. Get the impression this is typical of Clearlake and if you look at a satellite map of the lake you see dock after dock next to each other.

The drive in, once you get off the main paved road and start down the dirt road, is not for the weak at heart. Not sure who is responsible for maintenance (county or owners co-op), but was in dire need of repairs caused by our recent rainy season. I’m assuming this will be better in the future.

All in all, we had a very relaxing visit and would provide a great recommendation to others for this property, along with a very sincere “Thank You” to Patricia!

As advertised

  • 3 of 5

The house is a little hard to find in the evening due to poor area lighting. Be aware that the dirt road leading from the main road to the house is a little difficult to drive on. The house was clean and organized though a bit dated. Cabinets are a bit worn. Pots and pans are at the end of their life but still usable enough. Furniture indoor and outdoor are functional but have seen much better days. Boat dock was old and pretty unstable. Pool table was almost falling apart where you couldn't lean on the table, and out of two pool sticks one was crooked with no cue and one was broken in half held together by tape. Another important thing is that the water smells terrible though still clean and safe, but bring your own drinking water. One last thing that really bothered me was the owner's cancellation policy. More than 60 days you get a refund minus 30% for "admin fees" and less than 60 days there are no refunds, at all.

Overall our stay was decent enough and this place has no shortage of sleeping area. If you need a big space for a family function, then this is a good enough choice otherwise I would look at other rentals. Amenities such as the television, internet, charcoal grill, gas fire pit, and cable television are its only saving grace.
