Beautiful home in a great spot
Norman and Oksana were wonderful. They made me feel really welcome and were very kind. The house was perfect for my stay. The location offered a quiet serenity with immediate access to shopping (the Berkeley Bowl is nearby), town, the marina, and freeways. I was in the house for two months and fell in love with it. Thank you Norman and Oksana!
They hit it out of the park.
The quaint cottage was exactly what I was looking for my son and his significant other had their privacy yet we were together. I will gladly mention Oksana and Norm
Quaint, quiet and convenient
Very cute little place right in the middle of Berkeley. Minutes walk to dozens of dining options and downtown too.
Kitchen has about everything you could need. The living room is comfy and bright with a great collection of books and info on the area and it's history that we found quite helpful and informative. Plenty of closet and bureau space to get your clothes out of your suitcases in the downstairs bedroom. We did not use the washer/dryer in the basement but that's a great convenience if you do have a need for them. The backyard is small..but this is a city after all so that's often what you get. A grille would be a nice addition for those who like to cook in at night, if Norm and Oksana are looking for suggestions.
This is a great home base for exploring the bay area, only about 30 mins from OAK, the airport we used. Also an easy drive into Marin county, Muir Woods, and Sausalito, Santa Cruz is a great place to spend a day as well with a simple and often scenic two hour drive to get there...we saw surfers, sea otters, and dolphins all at the same time from Lighthouse Field there...just fantastic.
The neighborhood is very quiet, with parents walking kids to school and locals commuting on bikes (this is Berkeley after all) in the mornings, really giving a family neighborhood feel. Parking was never an issue but be aware that if you rent anything bigger than a compact car you'll have to park on the street due to the little sized old school driveway/carport whatever you call it. Not a deal breaker by any means though, and again that's just how city life is most of the time. We managed just fine even on the once a month street cleaning days we were thankfully warned about in the house info provided.
This style of Spanish influenced Craftsman is pretty much non-existent where we're from so it was interesting to see the original design details throughout.
Overall this is a nice rental and we'd recommend it if you're looking to explore the area.
Very charming home
Thank you. We stayed more then a month and were happy there. Very charming home.
Nice home in Quiet Neighborhood!
The house is EXACTLY like the photos. It's a nice two story home with everything you need to feel at home. The bedrooms were small but functional with plenty of storage. The heat was a great especially since the temps drop every night to the mid/low 50's even in July. The basement where the laundry was great but watch out with kids because it's also used as storage for construction and house supplies.
The owners were responsive to our messages and let us use the driveway for our rental which was great. There is also street parking so never an issue. The neighbors were friendly and quiet.
I would definitely recommend the house for anyone traveling with kids who don't mind sharing a bed or couples traveling in groups. The location is about 35 - 40 mins. by car from downtown San Francisco and there are plenty of markets (Trader Joe's etc.) and restaurants in the area.
We really enjoyed this house!
The house was very clean and in a nice neighborhood. The owners were very helpful and offered to help in any way they could. Just a short walk to the BART station, this was great way to see San Francisco without the high priced SF hotels.
