Fred is a retired National Park Ranger having worked at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Marcia is a retired teacher. Both enjoy active vacations and have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Caribbean, Europe and parts of Canada. Our interests include hiking, kayaking, canoeing, photography, and wildflowers. Fred is an organic gardner, makes twig furniture, and designs silver and turquoise jewelry. Marcia enjoys going to the gym and repurposing old furniture. We are Yooper transplants coming from New Jersey and Minnesota. We met on Isle Royale National Park working there during our college summer vacations. We currently live in Woody Run Cottage which is next door to Tree Tops Cottage.

Well kept homey cabin with beautiful views. Great sunset viewing from the fire pit or porch. Walkable to Munising falls through a short hillside trail. Lots of adventures a short drive away. Enjoyable vacation home!
Absolutely wonderful place to stay.
Fred & Marcia were very quick to respond to any questions that we had. The house was wonderfully decorated and stocked with everything that we needed. Very clean and comfortable. Only regret we have is that the gardens around the house we're not in bloom. I'm sure they are spectacular in the summer.. Joe W.
I would definitely stay here again. Had a great view of the sunset
Fun times even in the rain
Delightful Stay, Delightful Home
The pictures are true. The views of Munising Bay / Lake Superior from the deck are just as wonderful in person as they are on the website. And Fred’s care of the flowers planted on the deck, and elsewhere on the property, enhances the natural beauty. Being able to walk to Munising Falls was a bonus. We had sunny weather. Yet, if it had been raining, the sliding glass doors would have allowed us most of the same views from the comfort of the living room. With three bedrooms and a bath upstairs, and one bedroom and bath and a second living room area in the basement (which opens out onto the back yard below the deck), there was plenty of room for six adults. The kitchen was well equipped. The dining area fits six, but snugly. So, we usually chose to take our plates out onto the deck to enjoy more of the beautiful views. The basement area was humid which required the dehumidifier to run most of the time. But it became “white noise” that did significantly detract from our overall enjoyment of the place. Fred stopped by to greet us after we arrived and before we left – a perfect balance of letting us have our space while also being available to us for answering questions about the house and the Munising / Pictured Rocks area.
Home sweet home with stunning views!
The location was perfect. Close to town & all the nature parks. My children really enjoyed the trails leading down to Munising Falls. The gorgeous deck with panoramic views was breathtaking. Fred & Marcia were great host & Fred is a retired park ranger who had awesome advice for us. We will definitely be back!
So peaceful; beautiful!!
My family and I spent a long weekend; the accommodations were perfect!
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is right at our doorstep. Tree Tops Cottage is adjacent to the national lakeshore. Munising Falls is a few minutes walk and Sand Point Beach, which was named one of five nationally rated beaches, is two miles down the road. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore extends 40 miles along Lake
Superior from Munising to Grand Marais offering numerous waterfalls, hiking trails, beach combing, white birch forests, lighthouses, swim beaches and more. The Chapel loop hiking trail is one of the most spectacular in the area.....another must see is Miners Castle.
