About Steven Sheft
My wife and I have owned the property for about 25 years. Our family has certainly enjoyed our summers of boating, swimming and hiking and entertaining. Come make your own memories.
Steven Sheft purchased this Farmhouse in 1988
Why Steven Sheft chose Owls Head
Indian Lake, Mountain View (Franklin County, near Malone) is a hidden jewel in the Northern Adirondacks. This lake is a quiet sanctuary with many camps scattered around the perimeter of the lake but not a lot of outside boat traffic. You are 1 hour from Lake Placid, 2 hours from Burlington VT and Montreal , If you are a golf enthusiast the famed 36 hole Malone Golf Club is just 15 minutes away. In additional there are many hiking trails, including hiking up Owls Head Mountain or into High Fall, which is a 3/4 mile hike on a marked trail that leads to a number of waterfalls as the Salmon River cascades it's way through the mountains. You can be as active as you want or just chill on the deck located directly on the water above the boat house or the all seasons porch. Either way you will find relaxation and enjoyment with your family. Come and make your own memories.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
This camp is located on a private access road with only two other properties. You are located 50 feet from the water and have a 75' lake front. At night there is a fire pit for making smores. If you enjoy fishing, a metal row boat and fishing equipment is all here. If you own your own motor boat bring it and dock it right next to the boathouse. Enjoy, hiking, boating, biking and relaxing. You will find the camp to be tastefully decorated in an Adirondack decor and all the comforts of home.

Charming and peaceful setting.
The property was very clean and suited our family needs perfectly.
camp was great, the views and peaceful lake and the loons!
We had a great time. Our family came with the grandkids and they just loved it too. The only thing I would recommend to other renters is bring firewood. We live only 90 minutes away, so our kids brought enough for the week. The house is well equipped with everything. We highly recommend this place.
Glad you had a great time. As stated in the "Camp Mountain Shadows Info" booklet there is firewood stored in the basement. I'm sorry that you didn't call me to clarify that. Thanks for the review.

Pleasant Adirondack lakeside experience. Comforts of home but still a camp getaway.
We enjoyed our stay during the July 4th holiday. Great location on the lake for relaxing and watching the sunrise or sunset. We were able to bring our boat and use the boathouse. A perfect spot for kayaking. Also for watching the annual fireworks display. Accommodations were clean, comfortable and welcoming. All correspondence with the owner was timely and helpful. Will definitely consider renting again.
Center for Relaxation
By day 2, we were forced into the wonderful world of relaxation! The deck over the lake was awesome and the beauty was unending, even had a seaplane come in next to us! Eagles, hummingbirds, blue jays, loons galore. House well appointed and stocked, cozy sitting rooms and built awesome fires in the fireplace, s'mores! We enjoyed kayaking and have friends there with a pontoon boat so really able to enjoy and explore the lake. A tip for dinner, check out sugar loaf cottages around other side of lake for their homemade artisan pizzas, just call and see if they're making them that night, neat place and great food, place is a gem. A few small glitches, since Windows need to be opened, esp warm days, cobwebs and bug debris (a lot old) was creepy, house is very clean so surprised this was overlooked. Overall though, great house to rent, esp with just 3 of us, definitely room for lots more!
Wonderful stay at this charming lake house!
We had a wonderful week staying at this 'hidden gem' in the Adirondaks! We escaped the Phila mid-Summer Heat, temps at the lake barely hit 80! But it was sunny and perfect every day. The house has a lot of old Adirondak character and came complete with everything we needed. We spent most of our time on the deck above the boathouse, you just can't beat the view! We had 5 additional family members with us for 4 days and there was plenty of room. We all took turns using the kayaks and floats and my nephew spent a lot of time fishing from the row boat, although he did not catch anything. We LOVED seeing the loon family every day, and we also saw a Bald Eagle and many ducklings. We ended up not needing to use the Luv Shak, but I have to mention that it is adorable! Nice touch for a family or group of friends that needs a 5th bedroom! Thanks for a great week!
I am so glad you enjoyed your week at the lake. It certainly is a magical place. Thanks for the great review and thanks for choosing my rental property.
Excellent family vacation
The owners were great to work with. The house is amazing, spacious, and very homey. The house was the most well stocked house I have ever rented. It has everything you need! Seriously! The yard is fairly private seeing that there are houses on both sides. The deck on the lake is by far the best feature. Great views of the lake and mountains. Owners even allowed my two small dogs to come along and they loved it. Kids loved it! My parents loved it! Dad spent lots of time exploring ATV trails in the area and checking out the wildlife. The kids fished and took kayak rides everyday....although we caught nothing. Would definitely recommend!!!
Thanks for the great review. The property speaks for itself. It is certainly a "hidden jewel in the Adirondacks."
