About Susanne

Never enough time to spend in Maine!

Susanne purchased this cottage in 1995

Why Susanne chose Mid-Coast & Islands

There is so much to do or you can do nothing at all but just enjoy the air, the view. No internet, no wifi, limited cell phone reception, no tv.

What makes this cottage unique

We love this area of Maine, it's the real Maine. Not too touristy, but enough to keep you busy on a rainy day. It’s a place that you can be as busy as you want or just hang out on the deck and watch the boats, or kayak and explore the islands. It’s a short day trip to Mohegan or Arcadia.

Simplicity, rest, and peace are what we feel when we are here. There is nothing like a night’s sleep in Maine and that first cup of coffee the next morning on the deck. The sunrises and the sunsets are spectacular! Yachts and Lobster Boats, Osprey and seals, all in the same view!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We’re just back in Vermont after a really wonderful stay in your little cottage. It could not have been more perfect! 7 days of perfect weather didn’t hurt – but the place and setting were exactly what we were hoping for. Your pictures and information all set our expectations right where they should be – not always the case.

Thanks again for sharing your sweet little place with us!

Notes:
*Waterman's Beach lobster shack is closed and at the moment does not have any plans of reopening. But they are planning on opening a micro brewery but I do not know when. According to the paper they are planning on being open 3 days a week, offering tastings only, and not serving food. *There are two cottages on Sea St. We own both and do not rent the other one because it is not finished. If we come up we stay there.

Wonderful escape!

  • 5 of 5

This is a terrific little gem; I was just delighted the first moment I laid eyes on it. It was my first solo vacation and this is a perfect place for a getaway. Loved listening to the waves lapping the shore at night and sitting out on the deck even at night to read. Well equipped kitchen; lovely bedroom and I just could not get enough of the view. McLoons Lobster Shack was my favorite; right around the corner but I know they close the end of September. And Susanne was so responsive to every email with terrific recommendations for restaurants and many other places to see. You will love every minute here but I would recommend finding it in the daylight. A little tough to find at night but maybe that was just me and my Google Map app. I will be back!

We had an absolutely wonderful time!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage itself is very small and quaint, but it had everything we needed. The location is perfect, being right on the beach and still very close to all that midcoast has to offer. We kayaked almost every day, ate breakfast on the deck and star gazed at night by the fire. It's been a long time since we have seen the Milky Way, and the sunrises were amazing as well! Don't hesitate to book this one.

A Great Getaway offering a chance to unwind and enjoy the beautiful Maine scenery.

  • 4 of 5

We so enjoyed the peace and quiet of the cottage. The view was tremendous & we never tired of watching the light change on the water throughout the day. It was a restful getaway, which was exactly what we'd hoped to find.

This is a beautiful spot.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week at this cozy little cottage. The location is fantastic. The owners were gracious and accommodating. It has a feeling of remoteness, but it's a short drive away from downtown Rockland, which has great shopping and dining. We plan to return. 😊

Too beautiful for words

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was very comfortable for three adults. Nicely decorated and well furnished for everyday living. Most days spent on the porch or the small, rocky beach steps further. Artsy towns of Rockland, Rockport and Camden just a short drive away. Stop in for a fish sandwich at the Keag (gig) store and corned beef breakfast in Spruce Head. Don't bring too many books. The view eats up all your reading time! One complaint - broken ice cube tray.
