Welcome to the Elk River Cabin!

This is just what you are looking for in a year around, 4- seasonal, mountain getaway retreat!

The Elk River Cabin is an authentic log cabin that was originally built in the 1800's in Marion, NC. It was dismantled, with all the logs being numbered, and re-constructed at its current location.

It has been renovated to retain it's timeless and rustic charm. The many special features include Twig exterior & interior railings, oak hardwood peg flooring on main level, full masonry stone fireplace in the living room and fully renovated baths.

Upper Level: Master Bedroom, Guest Bedroom, One Bathroom

Main Level: Kitchen, Dining room, Living Room, Sun Porch and One Bathroom

Lower Level: 2nd Master Bedroom, Bunk Beds, Bathroom and Laundry

The cabin is located only about half a mile from the stoplight in downtown Banner Elk. Close to restaurants, shopping and festivities, but far enough away for peace and quiet.

The cabin is located only ½ mile from downtown Banner Elk and within ¼ mile to Lees McRae College.

Sugar Mountain...... 4 miles

Beech Mountain...... 5miles

Beautiful cabin in a beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 3 nights in October with a total of 3 couples. It was a perfect gathering place. The cabin is beautiful, not far from town, but it seems like you're in the middle of nowhere with gorgeous views of the mountains, the sounds of the rushing river down below and no other houses in sight. It's a great size for 3 couples, although we could have fit even more people, but would have then sacrificed a little privacy. There are 3 bedrooms, one of which has 2 double beds, then there is an open area in the lowest level of the 3 stories that has bunk beds, perfect for kids. I highly recommend staying here. Also, Marsha was a pleasure to work with. Even though we went back and forth on whether to bring dogs with us, I received a refund of our pet fee along with the security deposit promptly after our stay, since we decided not to bring them.

We enjoyed our long weekend stay at The Elk River Cabin! Beautiful view from every room! Enjoyed the hot tub, porch and the kids loved the bunk room with ping pong table and corn hole outside! We will definitely go back again soon!

Wonderful well designed getaway property.

  • 4 of 5

The refurbished cabin was very well maintained and equipped with everything you need. It was very private yet close to downtown. Parking was tight but adequate. The property was spotless and tastefully furnished.

Beautiful and close to town.

  • 5 of 5

The property is very roomy and beautifully decorated. We had plenty of room for six people. Even though it is close to town it still has a view.

Great getaway! Beautiful views at this secluded retreat which is very close to town.

  • 5 of 5

The location was excellent and the themed decor was very cozy and appropriate. The cabin is clean, comfortable, and well stocked with needed supplies. We stayed three weeks. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of room and privacy when guests visited. My two concerns are very specific to our situation, but worth mentioning: 1) The lighting in kitchen is very poor and it made it difficult to cook, work at kitchen table, find light sockets, etc.in the evenings. On plus side, it is easy to get to restaurants in town. 2) My husband is 6'3 and his brother who visited is 6'7... the stairs were a little difficult to navigate for these big guys. If you are tall or have mobility issues, just know there is a price to pay for the coziness and authenticity of this cabin. But overall it was well worth it!
