The space
You have private access to the cabin, expansive decks, parking area, pool and hot tub. The cabin has 2 large bedrooms. Bedroom 1 features cal king bed and a pull-out sofa. If your idea of nightlife includes the distant howl of coyotes and views of the Milky Way this place is for you. If you are expecting an urban experience and like to be close to town then you may want to look elsewhere.

Location
The cabin features incredible solitude on a hilltop in an isolated rural area 9 miles from the highway. The road in front of the property is gravel. Once you arrive at the ranch, the cabin is located atop a half-mile paved driveway that features multiple hair-pin turns.

Groceries
For the best experience, shop for groceries before arrival or plan to order from Instacart once you are here. There is a mini-mart 15 minutes away for essentials. Mariposa town is 20 minutes away featuring Pioneer Market with most grocery brands. Also in Mariposa, High Country Health Foods has most Whole Foods type brands. Major grocery chains Vons/Raleys are 30 minutes away in Oakhurst.

Yosemite
Access is via scenic hwy 140 into the valley or hwy 41 to reach Mariposa Grove and Glacier Point. Either park entrance is just over 1hr away and expect a 90 minute drive to valley floor traffic permitting. During busy summer months, you will need to depart from the ranch before 5:30AM in order to avoid traffic and find parking once in the valley.

Pool & Spa
The pool and spa are available for your use year-round, but only the spa is heated. The pool & spa fee, included in the price of your booking, is $50 per stay. If the Pool and Spa are unusable for any reason including mechanical breakdown, wind-driven debris, or chemical imbalance, you may be entitled to a $50 refund.

Wildlife & Environment
All areas surrounding Yosemite National Park, including more urbanized parts, provide opportunities for captivating wildlife encounters. Guests may spot a variety of creatures, from the graceful deer, turkeys, squirrels, and majestic hawks to rarer sightings such as elusive coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, raccoons, feral pigs, skunks, rattlesnakes, tarantulas, and scorpions, all contributing to the region's distinctive and diverse ecosystem. Moreover, one should be mindful of the presence of poison oak in the local flora.

To fully appreciate and safely engage with the surrounding nature, it's essential to demonstrate respect for the local environment and possess knowledge about potential risks. By doing so, you can enhance your experience and simultaneously minimize any associated hazards.

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin is perfectly located on top of a mountain. The drive isn’t bad at all. if you’re into nature and just want some peaceful time away from the city noise, this is the place for you. A nice size pool and a hot tub is a bonus. We watched the sunset and it was absolutely phenomenal. The host is super friendly and attentive. In addition, he gave us useful tips so we can enjoy our stay and be safe. Thank you Chad! My roots trace back to the nearby city of Merced, CA, where I was born and raised. During my formative years, I had the privilege of spending countless cherished holidays with family friends just a few miles from the Ranch. Those memories were etched in my heart, creating a deep connection to this idyllic place. When I reached a point in life where I sought respite from the frenetic pace of city living, it was Mariposa that beckoned me back, and it was here that I rediscovered my passion for this remarkable locale.

It was during this homecoming that I stumbled upon the captivating Indian Peak Ranch, a place that would soon capture my heart. Nestled in the picturesque hills of Mariposa, this hidden gem offered the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Here, I found solace in the tranquil embrace of nature, embarking on hikes that unveiled breathtaking vistas and engaging in leisurely sightseeing excursions in the Yosemite Valley and the surrounding gold rush-era towns. The allure of these landscapes, rich with history and natural beauty, was impossible to resist.

In these hills, I felt as though I had struck a metaphorical goldmine, not in the form of precious minerals, but in the form of an enriched life experience. The opportunity to connect with the land, embrace the heritage of the region, and share this unique journey with guests from around the world became my calling. Hosting visitors at Indian Peak Ranch allows me to extend the warmth and charm of Mariposa to others, providing them with an opportunity to create their own unforgettable memories amidst the beauty of the Sierra Nevada foothills. It's a privilege and a pleasure to be a part of their exploration and discovery, as they too fall in love with this extraordinary place I now call home.

Why they chose this property

My affection for the town of Mariposa is boundless, as it has managed to preserve its character for over a century and a half. Walking through its streets feels like stepping back in time, with the original courthouse still in operation and not a single stoplight to interrupt the timeless ambiance. Mariposa is a place where authenticity thrives, offering a glimpse of a bygone era that is increasingly elusive in our cookie-cutter world.

One of the town's most enchanting attributes is its local shops and restaurants, each of which exudes a unique character and warmth. These establishments are not just places to shop and dine; they are living, breathing embodiments of Mariposa's rich history and spirit. Whether you're perusing the shelves of an antique store, savoring a meal at a local eatery, or chatting with artisans who have honed their craft for generations, you can't help but appreciate the heartfelt dedication that permeates every corner of Mariposa.

However, what truly sets Mariposa apart is its people. The residents of this charming town are as warm and welcoming as they come. With smiles that feel like a ray of sunshine and a genuine sense of community, they extend open arms to newcomers and visitors alike. Conversations with the locals are imbued with the wisdom of generations and a shared appreciation for the town's heritage. Their friendliness is a testament to the enduring spirit of Mariposa and its tight-knit, welcoming community.

Mariposa is more than just a town; it's a living memory of the past, a place where the original courthouse still stands, where the absence of stoplights preserves its timeless allure. Its local shops and restaurants offer a rare authenticity that transports you to another era, and its people are the embodiment of warmth and community. Mariposa is a treasure trove of history, character, and genuine hospitality—a place that leaves an indelible mark on the heart of anyone fortunate enough to experience its magic.

What makes this property unique

We hold a deep affection for the ranch. It's a place where serene tranquility envelops you, offering a respite from everyday life. The allure lies in several remarkable features that make the ranch an extraordinary retreat.

First and foremost, it's the quiet solitude that beckons us to this remote sanctuary. Nestled far away from the hustle and bustle of urban life, the ranch exists in a realm of serene stillness. It's a place where you can truly hear yourself think and reconnect with the innermost recesses of your mind.

Moreover, the ranch is a sanctuary for abundant wildlife. The landscape teems with a diverse array of creatures, from deer grazing in the meadows to the chorus of birds at dawn. Witnessing these creatures in their natural habitat provides a rare and humbling opportunity to appreciate the wonders of the animal kingdom.

Then there's the enchanting nightscape. When darkness blankets the ranch, it unveils a celestial spectacle that is nothing short of awe-inspiring. The brilliance of the constellations and the twinkle of distant stars remind us of the vastness of the universe. Stargazing here is an experience that leaves an indelible mark on the soul, an invitation to contemplate the mysteries of the cosmos.

The nearest neighbor is miles away, and this remoteness bestows a profound sense of solitude and freedom. Standing atop the hill, surveying the sweeping vistas, you feel an immediate sense of relaxation. It's a moment when you can exhale, leaving behind the stresses and responsibilities of daily life.

The ranch is a haven for those seeking solace, connection with nature, and a glimpse of the cosmic wonders above. Its quiet solitude, abundant wildlife, and the spellbinding nighttime display of stars are all part of a profound experience that must be witnessed firsthand to be fully appreciated. This hidden gem offers a precious opportunity to escape, unwind, and rediscover the beauty and tranquility that the natural world has to offer.
