Be snug as a bug in this cozy home located in the hive of activity that is downtown Bar Harbor. The Honeybee house was built in the 1920’s in a year round residential cul de sac and was fully renovated in 2007 opening up the downstairs floor plan to a more functional and modern family style. In 2013 we updated the home with new furniture, new linens, and fresh paint colors.
This fully renovated downtown home features an exceptional location in the heart of Bar Harbor within walking distance to all downtown restaurants, shops, supermarket and amenities including the main hub of the island wide free bus system allowing for a car free vacation. Walk to the local bike shop to rent bikes and ride directly into Acadia National Park. Pack a lunch and walk straight to the dock where your whale watching excursion boat departs. Grab the kids and walk downtown for an ice cream. Or enjoy that special dinner with family and friends with out the hassle of squeezing everyone into a car and finding parking.

About Jennifer Wales
Adam and Jen have a deep love and understanding of the natural beauty surrounding the Acadia/Mount Desert Island area. Jen grew up summers on Long Pond and Adam on a 110-acre farm in Western Maine adjoining the Appalachian Trail. They met here in Bar Harbor working as sea kayak guides in the summer of 1993. Over the years, they have hiked, biked, paddled, and sailed every conceivable route on and around Mount Desert. Adam completed his goal of hiking every trail on the Island in the summer of 1994 and Jen authored The Sea Kayaker's Guide to Mount Desert Island published by Down East Books in 1997. Together they paddled the Maine Island Trail, a 175-mile 28-day kayaking trip from Portland to Machias, up the entire Maine coastline. In the summer of 2000, Jen and Adam started Mountain Sea Properties with a single house, Eagle Cliff, where they were married that same summer. The owner had approached them expressing her frustration renting the home through larger rental operations on the island. She complained that her house was one of hundreds represented so the service she received was minimal. She also stated that those who rented the house were not as well informed as they could be. The tenants were also one of hundreds and the service they received was minimal. Adam and Jen offered to represent the house committing to providing top quality service to both owners and tenants by representing a limited number of houses and providing personalized vacation services. Since then, Mountain Sea Properties has grown along with the Wales family. As year-round members of the Island’s community, Adam and Jen are dedicated to the vitality of the people of Mount Desert Island. Thus, each year they donate a portion of their proceeds to local organizations devoted to sustaining the beauty and well-being of the Mount Desert Island area.

Great home, great location with all the extras
It was like walking into your own home. It had plenty of soap, shampoo, and paper products. A great location to walk to downtown Bar Harbor, supermarket a 100 yards away and in a quite neighborhood. We spent the week hiking in Acadia less than a five minute drive. This home is what homeaway should be.
Awesome homebase for Acadia adventures
This house is perfectly located to enjoy all that Bar Harbor and Acadia have to offer. We loved being able to walk everywhere in town, especially having a grocery store so close. The house was simple and clean, so no complaints. Jen was available and responsive to a couple of little things we needed, so she took great care of us. We enjoyed being in a quiet neighborhood and sitting on the porch in the yard after a day of fun... was a great way to relax!
Great location; clean and well equipped home.
The home is located in a quiet neighborhood and is well equipped. Our group of 3 adults and 5 children were very comfortable. You can walk into the town of Bar Harbor or bike to the carriage trails. The property was clean and the owner was very responsive. I would choose this property again for a future visit. Make sure the bedding arrangement of 3 queens and 1 king works for your family. We love to hike and the trails in Akadia are among the most beautiful in the country.
Outstanding rental home
We stayed 5 days and had a lovely vacation. The home was clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. The location is ideal -- walking distance from Main street and literally behind the Hannaford and A&B Natural Market. Bar Harbor is a beautiful little town and the Acadia National Park is stunning. Jen, the owner, is great. She was easy to reach, helpful, and made sure that we had a wonderful holiday.
This home has plenty of room. The pictures are accurate. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything needed, including seasoning, towels, flour, detergents, and sugar. The house was very clean. The couches in the living room are very comfortable. The house is nearly 100 years old and retains its charm even with the renovations. The neighborhood is very quiet, even though the homes are very close together. It is a 1 block walk to the grocery store and a few blocks to town. It is a short two block walk to the start of the Bar trail. The three bedrooms and one bath are upstairs. The second bathroom is on the ground floor just off the kitchen. The laundry is in the basement. We were very pleased with this rental and would stay here again. The owner quickly responded to a minor need on the first day, and after that we had no issues or problems. We were very pleased here.
Well, Davids description pretty much sums up the Honeybee House! Historically charming while modern and comfortable and close to everything in Bar Harbor.
Excellent place to stay if you want to be in town of Bar Harbor
House well appointed - all appliances updated and updated bathrooms and kitchen. Can walk to some park trails. Easy walk to grocery store and health food store. Owner very helpful when contacted. Would stay there again. Overall very comfortable and convenient. We were two couples; no children.
