About Andy Breen
Our house is a weekend family home we use as a get away from NYC. We built it so that one could experience the open spaces and appreciate our natural surroundings. This modern home won the 2010 AIA award for design. This tree top canopy home will make you feel like you just stepped into an issue of Dwell or Metropolis magazine!
Andy Breen purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2009
Why Andy Breen chose Kingston
We found ourselves regularly coming to the Woodstock area in all 4 seasons. This area is full of natural, arts and cultural benefits and has such a great balance of sophistication without pretense. From the Woodstock art, movie and music festivals to the wonders of skiing or hiking in the Catskill Mountains to the HITS shows in Saugerties to the many NYC quality restaurants there is simply not another place like this.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
We built this house with a passion to realize our vision of an escape in a beautiful wooded setting while being responsible and respectful to the impact that new construction has on the environment. We used sustainable materials and systems that include solar, geo-thermal, triple pane glass and recycled timbers. We wanted light and great views so we built a huge wall of windows in the main room 30 feet up into the tree canopy. We love to cook and entertain and you'll find the kitchen to be top end and very convenient. The open plan main room allows us to be with our family and friends as we prepare those great meals. Extensive out door areas as well allow you to be one with nature at all hours of the day. We even screened in an outside eating/solarium area. We're located on 7 plus acres and your neighbors will be the wild life all around you.

Amazing experience in the Catskills
Rain or shine (literally), this weekend among two families with 3yos was perfect in relaxation and activities. The house is exceptional, akin to a Manhattan loft transposed in the trees.
Can’t wait to be back !
Gorgeous! Felt like we were IN the woods!
A beautiful house, calm and serene setting IN the woods, we saw deer everyday by the creek below drinking water. This house was perfect for a fall weekend in the Hudson Valley with extended family. The house accommodated our two families very well, with plenty of space for being together and also privacy when desired! The rooms are bright, clean, with modern finishes and plenty of sunlight! LOVED the main room/kitchen/living room, the kids could play while the adults cooked/chatted. It is spacious and bright, rooms have high ceilings, comfortable beds, bathrooms are new and nicely done. House has all modern conveniences and then some! We visited Woodstock, Rhinebeck, went apple picking, etc… all close by. A wonderful long weekend location!
House in the Trees
We have been here several times, in both winter and summer, and have always cherished our time spent at this house in the trees. With its elevation and sweeping common area windows, the house has a panoramic view of the encircling treetops that evokes a sense of being in a refuge-like aerie: a treehouse for grownups (and their families). This "treehouse" does have all modern conveniences, including a first-rate kitchen, clean and modern bathrooms, and parking. The open concept living area makes it easy for family and friends to play together, while the gracious bedrooms and balconies enable quiet solitude. Last but certainly not least, the unique environmental design and sustainability adds an extra sense of well-being that is definitely palpable. The home is a tasteful combination of old-time quiet comfort, and modern convenient design. The owners are friendly, helpful, and reasonable, and go out of their way to make guests feel good. We can't wait to return.
We're located a few minutes from everything. You can get off at Exit 19 on the NYS Thruway (Kingston). We're only about 5 miles from the exit but it'll feel like a world away. From here one can easily explore Woodstock, Saugerties, Rhinebeck, Hudson, Kingston and all the mighty Catskill Mountains have to offer. You'll find endless trails to hike or mountain bike. We're very close to world class parks like Minnewaska and Mohonk. During the summer and fall we're very close to HITS events as well. The fall colors here will blow your mind as will the views from our trail peaks.
No pets and no smoking inside or out of the house.
There are security cameras in the house. They are used to confirm your arrival but are not used during your stay except in case of emergency.
