We had a wonderful time! This beautiful home had plenty of room to accommodate my large group and made us all feel at home. The hostess was very responsive when I had any questions.
Breathtaking view. Amazing house and great amenities! We stayed this past weekend and enjoyed the rain from the screen porch. Wonderful atmosphere, absolute calm and tranquil. Perfect getaway. Thank you.
We enjoyed the properties rich history, giant bedrooms, social rooms, and the many porches. At night we used the fire pit and grill while enjoying the night sky far from any light pollution. The house was fully furnished, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare big group meals, and the women in our group loved the restrooms and showers. The owner was easy to get a hold of and very responsive to our requests. We will be rebooking soon.
this home had all the amenities we needed for our group. Rooms were very comfortable and host was very attentive to our needs. We will return for sure!
Myself and seven family members stayed for four nights at the Willis House. It was an amazing house. The neighborhood was very quiet, and there was more than enough room for all of us. We even had a few family members that couldn’t find their bedrooms or remember where their bedroom was at. Very nice layout and very comfortable. We will be booking again.
The Willis house was the perfect place to stay for the Miss North Florida pageant. There was plenty of room for girls, dresses, and grandparents who tag along to watch! The house is close to the Florida Caverns State park and a few other interesting spots. There is not much around so the peace and quiet are great for sleeping in and relaxing. The kitchen is nice, bedrooms are large, and there is a ton of common space.
I love everything about this property. Karen and her family were lovely. The rooms were so beautiful. The entire house was so functional. It was a perfect visit for myself and my family for my 50th birthday and I am so grateful to Karen and her family for making me and my family feel important. It is a special place. We will be back.
Everyone enjoy the spaciousness of the property...The Host was available at anytime that we needed anytime...Overall the house was very clean, but there were a few cobwebs and some incidents of insects; this is generally expected in an older house...
We really enjoyed our stay at the Willis House. Our only problem was not being there very much to really enjoy it! We were staying for my son’s wedding that was in Marianna, and it was so convenient to stay there. The house was very clean, and there was plenty of room to enjoy family that stayed with us, but also could get away from them for unwinding. The kitchen was well equipped with the things we needed, and large enough for large groups. I would definitely stay there again if I had to do it all over again. I thought this would also be a great venue for a small wedding.
Karen is a great person to work with and the house is awesome. I did my maternity photo shoot there and I would've chose no other place. I stayed at the property for my 50th birthday and I just knew that the next special occasion I would celebrate - I would be back here. Karen assisted me with finding a wonderful photographer AND a hair and makeup person. That would be the only thing that would be a negative of this place is that the city that surrounds it, is so small that it doesn't have some basic things that a large town does. However, it is also that small town feel that makes this place special. I love this place and I will be back.
The Willis house was the perfect size and layout for our large family, we were able to cook, eat together in the dining room, had enough bathrooms for everyone to get ready without long wait times. The host was very welcoming and provided a lot of information on the house and the area.

About the host
Hosted by Karen Kirkland
Karen is the 5th owner of this property since it was built in 1917. Karen purchased the home in 2022 and took a year an half to remodel for a whole house rental. Karen is not new to this home. Her parents were actually the second owners of this property. They purchased the home in 1972 from the original estate of Ma Lizzy and Dr. Robert Allen Willis. Karen grew up and lived in this home with her parents and two sisters. Making many wonderful memories in her elementary and middle school years Karen's love for the home started young. One of her favorite memories is the massive rope swing hanging from one of the tall oak trees, jumping from a 10 foot ladder to swing high and fast. Spend the night parties were epic and hide and seek went on for days. The soil had the best earthworms and watching the rain fall from the porch created a peace she's only experienced there. Little did Karen know how special this time would be for her future investment. Karen's parents sold the home in 1987 and it sold one more time in 2014. Karen purchased it in 2022 at the perfect time. God had the last 49 years planned out perfectly. Karen had the full support of her parents and sisters to purchase the house and bring it back to the majestic beauty it could be. Hurricane Michael hit the Florida gulf coast in October of 2018 and left the property damaged, over grown and many items in disrepair. Karen was determined to complete the remodel for her 50th birthday in October of 2023. With NO time to spare she and her parents pulled it off and the Willis House Grand Opening was an event to attend. Over 500 guests walked through the property and Karen knew others in the community and the surrounding area loved the house too. Karen is very excited to share this special property with others. Its her hope and prayer you will receive a supernatural peace while staying at the home.
Why they chose this property
Karen's love for the home and the idea of purchasing her childhood home was a dream she didn't realize she had. Now that she has opened it for others to enjoy she realizes the dream was always in her and she longs to stay and soak in the presence of the property. Its so unique.
What makes this property unique
The benefit of this property is it will quinch the desire to get away from anything busy and demanding. Give your life an abrupt change in scenery and force yourself to slow down and relax. Giving the guests opportunity to explore the property and view the historic pre civil war structures on property. Squirls and birds are bountiful in the trees and very active early in the mornings. Horses are in nearby fields and sometimes come close enough to feed treats. Deer are on property and surrounding fields and can sometimes be seen at dusk.
